I just completed the lich puzzle on Catskills and was rewarded with .... a bag of normal gems? WTH? Where the rewards changed?

Since someone brought this up and the rewards for it up, I was told you can get the Archdemon statue from doing the puzzle. I have only seen this drop rarely at the Chaos Deamon spawn...
so which is it? or is it both?

UGH you've got to be kidding. I've done the puzzle countless times and have never gotten it. LAME REWARD!
Archdemon statue is a rare drop of the Abyssal champ spawn like the replicas
