I haven't played my tamer in ages (never even tamed a greater dragon), so what are the current quickest-killing pvm templates out there? I typically run discord with the following template:

120 vet
120 music
120 disco
120 magery
120 taming
120 lore

I'm assuming this is still fairly effective and could be used to solo certain bosses with a greater dragon (Navrey at least, maybe Medusa?).

I'll share one of the most fun and effective strategies I employed in years past with the above template (I never actually saw another tamer do this):

Tame 5 high-hp, high-str hell hounds, get them bonded, and train them up. Head to white wyrm territory...discord, all attack, loot. The following make kills take 3-4 seconds:

1) Pack instinct
2) 80% fire damage from hell hounds
3) Low fire resist on white wyrm

I tried this in Fel at one point when stocking up on barbed leather and realized I didn't have enough time to loot and collect leather by the time the next WW was spawned and dead. This was pretty effective against tougher creatures provided they don't 2-shot one of the hounds.

Thanks in advance; I'm looking for template and pet advice.

These are my strategies. Skills doesn't count - in the sense that you can choose what you like more - but you need 85-70-70-70-70(75) suite, a mage weapon, 6FCR, protection and as much mana regeneration as you can.

For navrey you need a greater dragon, a lot bandages and some time. It has no area damage and switches target very very rarely.

For medusa you have to hide-vet, heal (you) - vet (pet). You basically try to stay hidden as much as you can and there is no real problem. Takes a lot of bandages and some time. Kill the pet copy as fast as you can, of course.

For Rikktor you have to heal (pet) - vet (pet) running in and out from your drag to avoid area damage - that makes rikktor retarget. Takes a lot of bandage and a lot of time.

For Nehira you use greater heal as much as you can and jump in with vet-heal if necessary. Always get rid of the undeads when they spawn (with the greater dragon).

Semidar is like Rikktor but it is a bit more tricky because she has not a constant timing on her area damage, so there are good chance to die here and there.

Barracoon... well, you could do that with a cu-sidhe.

I can't do Mephitis.

For dark-father, you stay in a corner (there are two great places) and use the same hide-vet heal-vet as medusa. You cut the bones one or two times to get some low-level undead around (avoid lich lords at all cost) and you just stay there. Takes a lot of bandages and time.

I tried the slasher of veils. I died a lot of course and i barely scratched him but if you find a way to heal yourself effectively it might be doable because he lands sometimes a triple damage hit but not often enough to kill the pet if you vet-heal it.

Currently i run with spellweaving (110) because high-end spellcasters tend to heal very fast when they are almost dead and word of death helps getting the job done. With discordance you get the same effect - but during the whole fight.

My skills are:

120 taming
120 vet
120 lore
120 meditation
110 magery
110 spellweaving

I don't know if i'll stick with spellweaving because sometime i miss the mana regeneration bonus of focus.

Use a greater dragon with good resistances (physical and energy max if you can) and high wrestling. The rest doesn't matter much.

The fastest killing templates out there for pvm are sampire, spellweaving, and discord templates. Clearly if you are interested in a tamer, the sampire is out, but you can build some very strong pvm templates with spellweaving and/or discord. So you are definitely on the right track (the op I mean) with your template.

You will do very well with a good greater dragon and that template, although for a little more excitement, and a faster kill, I would suggest a really good rune beetle paired with a nightmare. You should be able to keep a good rune beetle healed under most circumstances with that template but you will need to have good mana regen in your suit, and either be human, or squeeze as much med as you possibly can into the template.

You could drop your vet to 80 (and use enhanced bandages), and your lore to 110 and gain 50 in med right off the bat, which would be good for any race.

Is there really any reason to have taming and lore over 110 other than better heals for vet with lore? You can 99% control a g dragon at 110 both, so that's where I left it to give me more med.

I myself just finished

110 taming
110 lore
110 magery
100 med
100 vet
95 music (120 with jewels)
95 discord (120 with jewels)

I just tried it out for the first time last night at grizzle, getting the keys was a breeze, discord really helped tear through the key holders fast, and grizzle was about 1/10 dead when I realized I didn't have as many bandages as I thought I did so I called it off.

Was working out swell though.

By far the hardest part was getting to the key table once i had the key.

I also have necro and ss set up in place of music and discord for spawns, but have yet to try it.

Umm..

I run
110 tame
110 lore
100 vet
120 sword
100 tact
99 necro
118 chiv
@ 3/6 45 dci 45 hci

I can take out greater dragons without a pet if i am careful!

Has to be one of the highest dps temps out there.

I have been running this for years. It has evolved many times and before the last chiv change I was running 60 parry! This temp not only takes out high end mobs but does great in PvP too!

Interesting template, not completely original but I find it interesting that you say it does good in pvp.

Honestly I dont PvP on this guy anymore. I get tired of everyone leaving all the time.....

I've got a sampire, but what are the mysticism templates (either tamer or non)? I've yet to try the skill.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I haven't run med on my tamer previously as vet was enough to keep pets up except in rare situations, and if I build my new suit correctly, I can have 40% LMC and quite a bit of MR.
