hi,
i decided to rebuild my formerly archer/swordsman to a pure archer paladin post aos:

120 Archery
110 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Healing
100 Resist
100 Chivalry
80 Focus
10 Magery

my decision to drop swords wasnt easy, but "best weapon skill" swords could be an option...10 magery are for teleporting from scrolls.

all the info on these boards are great, now maybe someone out there can help me out... i have a grandmaster archer who can hold his own against monsters but is having trouble with the PvP in the Fel Yew Moongate area. this is my template i am using... I am thinking about dropping fencing and move those points towards magery skills since i only use spell channeling bows.. i also will be using power scrolls in the near future.

100 FENCING>>>> DO I DROP COMLETELY???
105 ARCHERY>>>> might raise to 120 with scroll, 110 for sure
100 TACTICS>>>> up to 120
100 ANATOMY>>> > keeping as is.
80 HEALING
55 HIDING
70 RESIST
60 FOCUS
50 MAGERY

if anyone has some suggestions, message me or just reply to this post. ICQ is 58204688

thanks

I like Moby-Sick's template, but as a pure Archer Paladin wouldn't Meditation be better than Focus? We can wear Barbed leather since we are going to avoid being hit, and use passive med for double the mana regeneration. I've heard stanima can be an issue, but devine fury will replinish stanima if needed.

120 Archery
110 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Chivalry
100 Meditation
100 Healing

I'm intending to use this char for champ spawns.

100 archery
100 tactics
100 magery
100 med
100 eval
100 music
100 provoke

Seems like it has a lot of offensive power anyway.

Lil unsure what to put her as, maybe I should go back to GM magery after the small difference Elder skills seem to make now.

My archer pre-AoS:

110 Archery
100 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Healing
100 Resist
100 Magery
100 Eval Int

My archer post-AoS:

110 Archery
100 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Resist
100 Chivalry
100 Focus
100 Meditation

[edit] BTW, my post-AoS archer is exponentially more powerful (for a variety of reasons).

Sylen's Template...

Archery : 100
Tactics : 100
Anatomy : 100

Chivalry : 100
Focus : 100

Bowcrafting : 100
Lumberjacking : 100

I've been trying to figure out an exciting archer combo, and I think I've come up with it finally... this archer has been through about 5 different templates during his time, but I'm convinced this one will work... ::Grins:: just like I was on the last 5... but anyway, here it is..

Skillcap 715

120 Archery
110 Peace
110 Provo
GM Tactics
GM Music
90 Focus
85 Chivalry

The anatomy loss hopefully can be overshadowed by the Chivalry spells, and healing is also covered by this... between the peacing and the provo, it should work out so that he doesn't get hit much... and with a nice luck/high resist set of armor, he should be in good standing... one can hope...

For AoS I prefer the following archer template:

archery 100
chivalry 100
tactics 100
focus 100
anatomy 100
music 100
peace 100

Earlier I preferred sword as near distance fight skill and
magery for teleport and heal. Now I prefer peace to
support my archer and use chivalry for teleport and heal
and focus instead of meditation.

I havent played in a year and a half or so and this was never really meant as a pvp character for obvious reasons.

Archery - 100.3/105
E.I. - 93/100
Magery - 100/100
Med. - 100/100
Resist - 60.5/100
Tactics - 100/100
Bowcraft/Fletching - 100/100

He is a fun character to play but with 100 skill points used up in the art of making bows it makes him pretty weak for pvp unfortunatly, and dropping Bowcraft is not an option! /php-bin/shared/images/icons/tongue.gif

Changed my template, and so far, I'm having tons of fun.

Archery - 101/120
Med - 100/100 (will drop either this or focus once im done testing)
Focus - 100/100
Resist - 62/100(will put down to 60 and use jewelry for 90 total)
Tactics - 100/100 (will get 120 Scroll)
Anatomy - 100/100 (will get 120 Scroll)
Chiv - 80/100 (locked)
Bowcraft/Fletching - 100/100

Chiv rocks on an archer. So much fun!

those are my plans for next month when i get 24 months credited...man, i wish i didn't quit...(account started in 98 :p) i'd have 5 years right now! :p anyways, i think this is strictly for PvM since monsters are easy to run around with a mount and easy to run away from...PvP i think this guy would get rocked real quick like. i was doing hiding instead of chiv but i didn't have stealth so it was pretty much useless, mostly rely on moving shot and divine fury if he had to PvP i guess.

elder archer (done)

elder lore (98 currently)
gm anatomy (done)
gm tacics (done)

110 str 105 dex 10 int (13 int with ring so I can recall)

They gave me the skill rings to do this and I'm not complaining!!

Whatever's left in Focus (I'm too lazy to figure it out)
80 str, 50 dex, 100 int

I already have all the scrolls, if only I could get the damn gains! Thanks, OSI, for making it impossible to GM skills anymore without working on your char 8 hours a day for 6 months. Christ....

I use the best armor and equipment I can get as I find it (if I ever fill that lbod, I'll have a barbed runic on my hands too /php-bin/shared/images/icons/laugh.gif ), but the two things I basically always use are:
A ring with +13 archery (so I only actually have to train arch to 107, and the ring will bring it to 120), Fast Cast 1, 4% defense increase, 5% lower mana cost, and +6 str; and a composite bow with spell channelling, 20% swing speed increase, and 17% damage increase. Armor ignore on that is just evil.

I'm currently only at 77 archery, 73 tactics, and 81 anat (thx again, OSI, for the sweet gains) and armor ignore with that bow was doing like 33 damage, even to my friend with almost all 70's for resist. Also, I tested a combo on him, while he was wearing the 70's resist suit, and exp/armor ignore/MB had him so redlined it wasn't even funny. After the MB I fired another arrow instantly, but it missed because of my crappy skill. If that arrow had hit, it would have been a kill, against ub3r AoS armor, for ~65 mana, all in about 6 or 7 seconds. I can't wait to get this char done! All I can say is....pwnage!

She's currently my favorite char to play. She's finished except Archery is only at 109 and Tactics is still 104ish. She originally was a miner/archer for digging ore ele's. But I now have a swords/miner with a Zyronic Claw for that, so dropped mining on my archer. /php-bin/shared/images/icons/members/redpleased.gif

110 Archery

100 Chivalry
50 Focus

Peacing on an archer seems to so kick, because the creatures you peace don't re aggro when you attack with the bow /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif

This is a PvP Template???
I'm playing in Argentina y a very small shard, but this shard is too PvP.

My template is
Archery 120 (currently 103)
Anatomy 115 (currently 102)
Tactics 100 (GM)
Healing 100 (GM)
Chivalry 90 (90)
Focus 110 (achieved)
Magery 65 (actually 95)

Using an exceptional crossbow +40% to damage, casting consecrate weapon and selecting concussion blow (only this because we haven't the Enemy of One activated yet) I do a damage of 70 hp approximately to a player with 50 of ar.

I'll keep magery to mark and to cast night sight, because I don't like potions :p.

The most important thing is that you can attack with your bow and with chival at the same time (holy light), and can heal yourself with bandages & close wounds.

The stats:
Str 80
Dex 100
Int 45

Try this template, is real powa

Mine? Any more expansions or changes to UO it will prolly be changing again

110 Base archery (scrolled to 115 jewelry does the rest)
110 Base tact, It could be 350 tact still would prolly miss all the time
100 Bowyer You ever actually found people to repair your bows?
100 Base anat (scrolled +5)
100 Focus (scrolled +5/ Meditation sux)
80 Eval Int (enough to make spells effective, jewelry does more)
70ish Magery (Jewelery gets me to circle 8 spells)
Lumberjacking dropping fast. . now the big question keep improving Combat side or the spellcasting side?

80str
103dex (speed is life)
40ish Int

Here is what I have followed by what I am thinking...any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Archery 100
Anatomy 100
Tactics 100
Healing 100
Animal Taming 88.5
Animal Lore 100.1
Veterinary 94.5
Magery 34.8
Focus 4.8

110
95
40

I have used a +20 Stat Scroll, but still have my AOS gift to use. As you can see, I am getting low on Focus (good riddance) so I need to decide what I want my final template to be.

I am thinking of dropping Lore to 90 in order to keep Magery a little higher. I would like to be able to recall at 100% chance with Rune Book. Other than that I don't really use Magery. I would like to be able to Gate or Invis, but would be okay with losing that ability...so, should I drop Magery to 20 or NUT?

I am thinking of this template:
Archery 100
Anatomy 100
Tactics 100
Healing 100
Animal Taming 100
Animal Lore 100 or change to 90 to keep Magery at 35
Veterinary 100 or change to 95 to keep Magery at 35
Magery 20

How often will I fail to recall with runebook at 20?

I am thinking of lowering my Str to up my Int so that I can use special moves more. As a tamer, I am wondering if the special moves are such a great thing for my archer anyway. How low should I feel safe going with Str.

How high should I keep the Dex? How much faster do I shoot at different levels? Apparently with the latest update I can't vet my pet any faster above 40 Dex.

Lastly, how should I use my AOS gift? I am leaning toward bumping taming to 100 as soon as I hit 95, but am wondering if I should use it to bump my stats instead. Dang, I wish I would have got a +25 stat scroll instead of +20! Hmmm, what to do, what to do?

Any ideas? I think I am rambling...I better go to bed. lol

I have 2 archers, both in the works, both this is what I am shooting for, although I'm not sure how well the stealth archer is going to work out:

Stealth/Archer/Mage (needs fine tuning, but great at surprise attacks/avoiding attacks and can go anywhere. He usually has a summoned fire ele or daemon with him and uses spell channeling bows. ):
100 archery
100 hiding
75 stealth (using jewelry for 95)
100 magery
75 med
100 eval
50 tactics
50 anat
50 resist
85 str
80 int
60 dex

My other archer is a basic Paladin/Archer (excellent, and fun, warrior):
110 archery
100 tactics
100 anat
100 healing
100 chivalry
100 focus
90 resist
90 str
70 dex
65 int

As I said, they are both in the process of gaining skill, so these are not the definite final numbers.

I've only seen one other of these:

105 Archery
80+ chiv (Might stop at 80, might go on...)
110 Taming
100 Focus
100 Vet
100 Lore
100 Tacs

100/80/55 (It works out to more like 100/85/65 with items)

I can stand on my WW with a slayer bow and dish out another 50-100 damage every couple of seconds. I'm doing elder gazers currently with one mare and am dropping them as fast as I used to with a white wyrm. I do miss magery from time to time, but once your pets bond you hardly notice it.

This is what I am currently working on:

120 Archery
100 Musicianship
100 Peacemaking
100 Anatomy
100 Tactics
100 Bowcraft/Fletching
80 Chivalry

80 Strength
100 Dexterity
45 Intelligence

A lot of people may wonder why I chose a craft over another skill, I thought it would be nice to be able to make and repaire my own bows.

This one seems to be unique among the others posted here:

100 archery
90 swords
100 tactics
100 magery
50 chivalry
100 focus
80 poisoning
80 resist spells

This gives the best aspects of many fighting techniques. A lot of possibilities both near and far. I'm still working on archery and magery, but when it's all done it will be as close to perfect as I can possibly ask for in a PvM fighter.

This is one of my favorite templates... good for PvM as well as the occasional PvP situation I find myself in. Nothing that'll break the banks, but a good solid character nonetheless.

This is my actual current template so all of my skills are as noted above and so far it seems to be very effective both in PVM and PVP. I know archery isn't the greatest in pvp but when you can get off a para shot and then lethal poison, there's a good chance you might take down a low hp mage or a warrior who doesn't have any cures on hand. Someday I hope we can poison arrows, when that day comes I'm dropping fencing and going straight archer.

This worked out nicely for me... I am not a PvPer.

115 Archery
115 Fencing
115 Tactics
115 Anatomy
106 Healing (still raising.. to 110 when I hit 4th year)
80 Chivalry (locked)
29 Focus (locked with +11 focus bonus ring)
35 Magery (locked)

Stats: 100 STR 90 DEX 60 INT (consumed a +20 stat ps)

Need the magery to cast Teleport, Reactive Armor, Magic Reflection, and Gate Travel (using scroll and jewelry with magery bonuses)
Had GM Parrying but dropped it because the monsters that can kill me isn't gonna just bite my head off. This also allow me to use potions when I am fencing.
Had GM Magic Resistance but dropped because after the skill got nerf, being a PvMer, being para only buy me more time to bandage heal.

One might ask, "What's the point of having both Necromancy and Chivalry on the same character?" Yes, I understand that with Necromancy, the lower your karma the better, and with Chivalry, the higher is best. This template is really based around your Chivalry though. The point of having Necromancy is souly for Vampiric Embrace. I know what you're thinking - That form lowers your fire resistance by 25%! So what? Whats some fire resistance to all the added bonuses? When in Vampyre form, you gain a 20% Life Drain ability, your Stamina & Mana Regeneration is increased, and you're immune to Poison up to 4th level! One doesn't have to worry about the 25% extra damage from Silver Weapons when fighting monsters, because none actually use a Silver weapon. Also, since you have [100.0](GM) Magical Resistance, the lowest your Fire Resist can be is 15 - 20 while you have this one (which is better then nothing). Ontop of this, I don't think anyone is stupid enough (other then myself) to go out without wearing some type of armor, espcially since they're going to be fighting pretty strong monsters. Even the most basic of armor should make up for the Fire Resist lost using the Vampyre form. The Chivalry is used for everything else. Use Close Wounds to heal yourself ( 7 - 39 points, depending on your Karma ), Remove Curse to regain your skills when needed ( chance dependant on Karma ), Consecrate Weapon to deal extra damage ( 3 - 11 duration, depending on Karma ), and Enemy of One to deal 50% more damage to the enemy ( 1.5 - 3.5 minute duration, based on Karma ). With the Chivalry spell of Sacred Journy, you can easily get from one location to another, and Noble Sacrifice lets you resurrect your fallen friends. The Cleanse by Fire spell will allow you to cure your friends, but since you have Vampiric Embrace on, you won't be needing it. Since you're only using Necromancy for Vampiric Embrace, and you're fighting Dragons, your Karma will stay high enough to give you the best added bonuses with all of the Chivaly spells.

I know, I know - "Why not just drop the Necromancy and put in a different, more useful skill?" - Because with Necromancy, you have the option to use all the Death-Dealing spells that come with it. With the ability to cast Pain Spike (even though not effectively without Spirit Speak) you can deal off that last bit of damage to the enemy quickly, and then gain the Karma you lost back right after. If you had healing instead, you give the opponent (be it Dragon or Titan, Terethian or Gazer) an opportunity to deal a massive amount of damage in its last bit of health. I've watched people get their arse kicked by a Dragon with little more then 30 hp, while the fighter had full health. But seriously, who doesn't want the extra added bonus that Vampiric Embrace gives you?

Some people might argue that having Magery with Archery is best, but I beg to differ. With Magery, you have to buy a crap-load of Reagents ontop of your Arrows, and if you're simply using Magery as a means to heal and travel, you might as well give it up for Healing, or better yet, Chivalry. With Chivalry, you don't have to worry about 'regging up'. With the Tithing Points, they're constantly in your Chivalry Book, so you don't need to run to the Bank to get more Reagents!

I recommend taking Battle Focus instead of Meditation. With Meditation, according to Stratics, you've got to be wearing armor that allows you to use this skill to gain the maximum Mana Regeneration bonus. With Focus, though, you get a Mana Regeneration bonus (though not as good as Meditation) along with a Stamina Regeneration bonus. I'm sure if you're wearing the right type of armor, and can drag a Dragon off to fight it alone, Meditation would be the ideal skill to choose - but I have trouble getting them off alone, and its hard to find a nice suit of medable armor without being a Multi-Billioniare. Therefore, I suggest going with Battle Focus.

Like I said earlier, this template was designed to do battle with Dragons, and most of the time alone. If you can get a nice Dragon Slayer - do it. It'll help more then you think. With this template, using a Dragon Slayer Bow and the tactics said above ( Vampiric Embrace, Enemy of One, and Consecrate Weapon ) I can take a White Wyrm down in 3 - 4 shots. I suggest you not use Divine Fury - it may give you some pretty groovie (yes, groovie) pluses, but the flaw of taking more damage, in my opinion, isn't worth it.

Don't know what to do with your Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence? The only help I can offer to you there with this template is to balance them as best you can. I use 95 str, 85 dex, and 75 int. With these Stats, you have a nice amount of Mana to use on your Spells, a fairly nice amount of Health, and good enough Stamina to run around and attack quite fast. Though its not as good as someone who has 125 dex, or 125 strength, it works (espcially since it was designed to fight alone). Just do what you think will work best.

I'd love to see what people can do with the Necromancy skill in an Archer template. Come on people! Get creative! Use your imagination, and have some fun with the game - its not all about the money! I hope someone uses this template, or at least tries it out - I had a time typing all this up. =P Peace guys.

Here is the template i'm going for with my archer/mage/pally template

Skill Cap Currently is 710

110 Archery - currently 75
110 Magery - Currently 100
110 Eval - Currently 100
GM Med - Done
GM Focus - Currently 92
GM Anatomy - Currently 75
80 Chiv - Currently 50

Stats - Currently
STR - 80
DEX - 25
INT - 125

So far she's pretty wicked. When you equip a spell channeling archery weapon, she can kill with arrows and high level spells. Also being able to summon up some earthies doesn't hurt either.

Well in the last couple months I have totally reformatted my archer on siege.
I went from
gm archer/anat/tacs/swords/L J/50 mage/60 resist/80 anat.... i thought it was cool to be an archer who could cut his own trees and get the lj bonus with swords... but that went down in the last year and i was getting killed too much... still do, but at least now i have a good chance at least, and do killer in pvm soloing.
to
archery 110.2 (to 120)
anatomy 110
tactics 104.8 (to 110)
Focus 97.4 (to 110)
Healing 95.9 (to 110)
Chivalry 77.6 (to 110)
Resit 69 (to 100)
LumberJack 55 (to 0)

once i get run out of lumberjacking i think i will either point chiv down to 80 or 90 and maybe focus to 100 or healing.. not sure.. but i will try to keep my resist going up to 100 no matter what. i have a 4yr account so ill work out the final touches when i get my base skills to 720.
i love that they tweaked healing so it doesnt take 20 seconds to heal any more. i can heal at 6 seconds (with good dex), and then also do the chiv heal and this works out great against monsters, if i practiced it may do good against pvp.

my stats are
90 str. (97 with rings and braclet)
95 dex (99 w/ ring)
60 intell
thats with my +5 reward scroll, and a +15 scroll... on siege you cant bless so you only carry stuff you can stand losing, but with damage bonus items you can do some good work!
the only thing i miss is having enough magic to gate... since sacred journey and recalls dont work on siege = lots of running getting killed by groups of reds! lol, but siege rocks compared to regular shards, way more exciting, thrilling, exhilerating at times even. and you get a little used to being killed. hehe

Realized I'd never actually posted my template, so here it is....
<pre>Archery 107.6 // 115
Anatomy 110.0 // 110
Tactics 100.0 // 100
Magery 100.0 // 100
Med 100.0 // 100
Healing 90.0 // 100
Chivalry 80.0 // 95
Focus 32.4 // 0
100 Str 50 Int 80 Dex</pre>If I ever get a 120 Archery or Anatomy scroll, I'll drop Chiv back.

If Archery gets a bit of a boost, I'd consider trading Tactics for EvalInt. But thats a ways off.... maybe /php-bin/shared/images/icons/wink.gif
