are portable ballot boxes legal and if so how much do they go for? Just found one on Great Lakes

they are supposed to be considered legal from all ive seen and heard.
as to value on some shards 500k - 1.5m, on others 15-30m.

It was deemed that portable ballot boxes give no advantage in game so they are now legal. A portable forge however does give ingame advantage,

Except not really since a fire beetle is a portable forge of sorts... I guess the main advantage there is no pet control slot, but that's not that big of an advantage for the average crafter I wouldn't think.

Sure it does. If you aren't using any pet slots with your "portable forge" you can bring your pack beetle instead, and with the new BOS change that is a HUGE advantage over someone who can't.

Fair enough... but even with a fire beetle (3 slots), you still have room for two packhorses. The point is kinda moot, I guess - has anyone actually seen any portable forges recently? That has been listed as an illegal item since before I started playing in 99 and I've never once come across one...

portable forges were from the era when you could place small forges on boats (right when they introduced house item deeds to the game)
they were only around for a few weeks and then deemed illegal, and promptly deleted when found. If anyone still has one, I highly doubt it ever leaves a box or is mentioned to anyone.
