Poll regarding PvP thread sticky.

Based on feedback we have received throughout the years, we decided to make a PvP thread available on all the shard forums.

Since Siege is the most active of the shard forums I wanted to allow the community to decide if this is something you want.

Pros:

1. All PvP/fighting related talk will be central to one thread
2. All screenshots and cool pvp videos will be central to one thread.
3. Loose moderation for "trolling" since you can't really call each other noobs without trolling. =)

Cons:

1. Loose moderation. Some people prefer all forums to be clean and respectful.
2. It will be another sticky @Victim of Siege =D
3. Sometimes people get over heated when they are "trolled" and personal attacks might commence.

I say no, as I don't want all that have a little to do with PvP moved to one thread.
Siege is one community, we are not split in 2 like on other shards.
When you see a PvM even and next a PvP/VvV event, many of the players will be the same.

It'd be a single thread where they'd be free to talk trash, everywhere else they're forced to behave. They can post in any thread they want anytime they want, let them have one where they can talk as they want and the rest of us can just ignore it. Sheesh.

quick reality check: has there been any relevant ammount of trashtalk amongst PvPers on the Siege forum in the last couple of years? no there hasn't!

Also why stickify trashtalk?? I am glad whenever a thread disappears over time after people talked trash. No need to keep such threads artificially permanently present.

*shrugs* Could be.I'm usually to busy gathering or trying to avoid being somethings lunch to pay attention to GC when I'm in game. Seems harmless though,and if it's unused, Giggles can always unsticky it and let it wander away down the forum list into history.

Should they be denied such a treat just because those of us who don't like such talk don't want to read such trash? All we'll have to do is leave the thread marked unwatched and scroll right past it. You want to draw a lot of trash talking kids to our forum? And all PvP players will be to be forces to post there, every time they dare to post about PvP insted of crafting and PvM. Do you want all crafting stuff to be in one messed up long thread or what about PvM?

Why would they be forced to post there? They can post in any thread they want as long as they limit the PvP trash talk to just the one thread.

I'm on the right shard Freja and don't fear what trash talk goes by in GC that I notice. If it manages to annoy me I just ignore the posters for a while.

A sticky PvP thread is just a waste of a thumb tack. Why lump every "event" into one thread? Each "PvP" moment is different and has some unique thing about it.

A stickied thread with content artificially funneled into will just get cumbersome. Eventually thread will only be read by a couple or three die hard ass wagons that are only concerned with one uping each other and seeing how far they can push the envelope.

No thanks is my vote. Let us deal with each PvP thread as it comes. Let's not create an artificial environment.

All very good points on both sides of the argument. And the vote seems to be tied currently. How about maybe instead of a PvP thread, add a PvP screenshots/video thread? So people can "passively" brag about kill shots or fight victories? It will also server as a Siege gallery that would end up being fun reflecting on in the future.

Only problem with this idea is sometimes I am sure someone would pipe in to comment, something like "YOU DIDN'T KILL ME FAIR! I WAS AFK WHEN YOU TOOK THAT SHOT!" Or something similar. But if the rules are placed as pictures and videos only, those types of things could be deleted, and/or moved to a normal discussion thread.

We only see this stuff when the Atlantic PvP'ers visite us and want to show how they own Siege. I don't feel Siege players do need to brag everytime they kill someone.
If we need a screen shot thread, I believe it should be for all kind of events pics, that be PvM, VvV, PvP, RP and EM events. Rules should be pics and a little story in a respectful tone.
Or we could make it a link thread, where each poster of pics could have a post where he link to pics from his/her event, that be Eaerendil having a list of links to his PvM event pics, Dragonlord having a list with link to VvV event pics or Mr Randum PK having a list of links to show pics of his victims.
People will easy see what link they want to see, a PvP'er may skip the PvM events and a PvM'er may skip the PvP links.
But it still keep Siege as one community

please just go through the posts of the last 2 years and you will see that there is simply no need for a special pvp thread. PvP happens (rarely) but obviously nobody feels the need to talk about it on here. The less sticky threads the better. Keep it simple!

The votes against this idea are outweighing those who wish to have it, so for now I'll just consider this as the final choice. There will be no PvP specific thread for Siege =)

I voted, but fail to see the need for this. Who asked for it ? The cringe factor is already high enough in regular threads.

No one asked for it for Siege specifically. Having pvp threads on shard forums was something that was discussed in general, and something some people have requested over time. The idea behind it is to have a place designed specifically for pvp talk on prodo shard forums, the forums that don't already have one. It might increase some activity, and reduce the random pvp smack talk threads that pop up all willy nilly. Like I said, some forums already have pvp threads stickyed that have thrived over the years with activity.

Siege is a different case. This forum is already active, the community is already engaged here, and the entire server is already fel based. That's why I wanted to ask and get feedback from you all before I added something like that here. And as expected, I don't think it will serve the same purpose or benefits here that it does on some prodo shard forums =).
