While I think it could have potential awesomeness being on each of the individual shards, Promathia has a point.
Also, I wouldn't mind having leaderboards and/or a ladder for it posted which would be reset monthly (or every 3 months or every 4 months) with *small* prizes given out to the top contestants for recognition of their achievements. For this though, some more tweaking would probably have to be done, but I don't see it as something that is impossible.
...It could also bring esports to UO, which would be awesome.
Edit: I want it to be known though, while I would like the idea I posted above to happen, I would like for it to somehow happen in a way that does not hurt the current pvp play style on live shards, just as something a little extra to do. Perhaps a tournament style setup would be in order (think how MLG does things; such as "pool play" before the brackets rather than a ladder or going by leaderboards)

i don't think it should remain up once arenas go live because it will result in less people using the arenas on their home shards.
i do however think it should be brought up for a monthly 'shard-wide pvp tournament'. trophies or prizes can be made and given to the players on their respected shard.

The thing is, the best part of Arenas is being able to fight people from other shards. I really do like Arenas, I just dont know how often they will be used on production shards

well, if they aren't used on production, they could re-open the test. why leave something in test if it's just going to fail in production? they should give the arenas all the chance to succeed on production first.
They won't be used at all on production shards. The people who avoid duels won't step foot in the arenas. At least if they remain on TC1 only the people who go there are the people who want to fight.
I agree with leaving TC Arena up for the accessibility.

With the current locations it might be used with EM events more so than just by players.
I do like the additional rule settings that were added though, enable/disable Pots & Field spells in duels was a great addition. I am impressed with the Arena system so far, eventually I'm hoping for it to become cross-shard usable =D

I saw a fair amount of people from Napa who would never step foot into a duel but sent a char to test for at least a night or more. My guild sent 1/3 of the people who fought daily and enjoyed it greatly. It was a bummer to see it drop but I suspect it's something like the dev team only has one extra server space or the like...

when people realize there's nothing to lose other than your dignity, they will use the arena more. it's really fun and a great way to learn pvp.
If they do it properly, it could be a way to showcase pvp skill in Ultima Online - and if they wish, they could turn it into an esport... which would not only be good for the game (insanely good actually) it would be great for pvpers.
Just as long as it doesn't become *THE PLACE TO BE FOR PVP*, seasonal tournaments would be great.
