No, sorry. Hedges come only from "peculiar" seeds that drop form certain monsters (see link)

Easiest sources for the hedge seeds are the Kappa (tall monster) for the tall hedge seeds at the lake west of the Isamu-Jima moongate, and the Ant Lions (short monster) in the Solen hive for the short hedges. About 1/4 to 1/3 of the peculiar seeds you get will be hedges.
If you want the poppie dust to I.D. the seed piles with, the best place for that is a cave by the Reaper/Troll area in Ilsh. Go in through the Spirituality Gate and go north to the road by the lake and follow it east until it ends. The cave is north of the road end. Go ready to fight, the spawn is heavy. Each seed that is for a poppie will produce 8 resouces with 8 uses each. 64 I.D's a plant.
Still working on all the peculiar plants in cross pollinating. But to start need to get the Catus plant. Catus and not the tribarrel / barrel / or prickly. Get theese from the bog creatures in basic blue red yellow and the useless plain. Farmed 104 seeds of bogs last night and after poppy dusting ended up with one red and a plain.
Pulled seeds off plants today and discovered that crossing a barrel and a tribarrel of certain colors can get Catus seeds. Seems crossing with tribarrels can get abnormal results. A tribarrel crossed with a water plant should produce prickly catus. Mine produced rushes that is on the other side of the stratics plant crossing table. Found even a few crossing of the same plant types but if different collors can give different plant types. Think it has to do with the none basic colors.
This is enjoyable to work even if it is a glitch so, LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE. It is deco and there is plenty to worry about in PVM and PVP.

The cactus bug has existed over a year and the last I heard isn't being fixed because the gardening community basically begged Sak to leave it.
