I am looking to sell a Pile of Snowballs Taken From Abominable Snowman. I obtained this item from sonoma tonight at the snowball war event. The EM said that there were 10 of them. it is currently on sonoma. I will be moving it to Great Lakes if it is not sold within a week or two. it is the buyers responsibility to pick up. Gold accepted on all shards.

You should tell the bidder to post his/her bid in thread so everyone knows its legit, 25 to 100 is rather large jump

Thank you all for the negative comments u scared my buyer away. since hes not responding at all to me the anonymous bidder was blueturtle. Thats y i hate stratics all the a$$*&les come out of the woodwork trying to ruin a sale and get a nice item super cheap. Just as bad as a scammer. and also blue turtles bid was before TOM_BUILDER's insulting bid of 20 mill. i would rather it sit in my house than sell it cheap to one of u rich a$$*(les. if u want it it will restart at 80 mill. i will take no less. if u don't want it DON'T POST.

Was not insulting. If you thought it was worth 80mil you would have stated a starting bid in your opening post. You either did not have anyone buying it for 100mil or got your hopes up from someone bidding off the charts. Also most people who have legit high bids don't post it in their thread. Someone might actually buy it from you for the price you are putting, but your attitude is not conductive.

I suggest you bring it to the Chesy rare's fest and see if you can sell it there. Often I put item on vendor for the price I like and they get bought up. I have one of these snowpile too and I like it a lot.

Unfortunately, this forum is a bit of a club of friends who do what they can to exclude others. My advice is, sell to brokers, idoc hunters and cross shard pvpers known to supply these types of goods. You usually will get paid more by them and they have the money and patience to sit on an item until proper offers are made.

It is unfortunate things turned out as they did, however people do get curious when they don't know the person and see huge jumps in the price. This is a natural reaction, especially to people they are unfamiliar with.

I would like to make a couple of recommendations to you for future posts.
1) ask that bids be make public.
2) start with a price closer to what you are comfortable with selling it for.
3) if someone offers you above and beyond your starting bid you might consider that as a potential buyout...especially if they do not post their bid.
4) don't take any of the negativity personally, this is as others mentioned a tight knit community...and due to some recent events they are often more cautious than they are careful of what they say.
5) if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask the locals. there are many here that will try to give you an honest answer, if they cannot they will often point you in the proper direction to find out what you need.

I am not shocked by this at all.

After seeing "anonymous" bids in auctions that I have run and also bid in, it is quite annoying and we ALL know the "usual suspects" that have been caught doing this...

At the end of the day, public bid requirements have become the "new standard" for running an auction on any forum...

Transparency is the key to higher sales, and also cause no reason for any suspicion from anyone, troll or not.

i understand that anonymous bidders do sound funny. I did reveal who it was even though hes not buying it. i appreciate all of the advice that has been given. as u can see i have very few posts so i am a little bit on foreign ground. But last i checked there wasn't ANY 1 in 10 items that were under 70 mill. if i am wrong pleas give me a list and how much they cost. so yes i do feel that 20 mill was and is an insult and an attempt to take advantage of a newer person. I know the price varies depending on how desirable it is, {wearable, effect, appearance, name, usefulness} but 20 mill come on. most 1 in 10 items go for 80 to 120 mill. they can even go up to 200 - 250 mill like the flavour of statue. it is a lesson learned i guess. i am here to buy and sell uo items not make friends. if the "click" wants to push me in the corner thats fine other people than the "click" shop here. If you like the item feel free to bid on the item. if u don't thats fine too.

Rarity does not always determine overall value. It does contribute, however often times this does not reflect whether or not the item will be 100+ mil. You have to take into account function, graphic, color, name, is it deco or wearable...ect. If you look at the recent history of goods, you will find that many 1 of 10 items have sold anywhere from 20-400 mil. All just depends on the item. :)

Not trying to troll or anything, just trying to provide useful insight. Again, if you ever have any questions, doubts, or thoughts...feel free to contact one of us regulars here on the forums directly and we will do our best to help out.

There is one thing you have to take into consideration and that is quantity over time. A year ago I would agree with you 1 of 10 on anything would start at 75-80 mil but throughout the year RC, myself, and few others have noticed that some of the 1 of 10 items can barely sell at 55-60. Take a look at Season 8 you'll notice that there have been over 500 different items released. Bottom line is, as a general rule of thumb, don't get upset and take your time to see what the experts will say before you make a final decision.

If its something everybody wants you can't keep the bids from coming but if its something nobody wants you can't give it away.

Frankie,

The main reason for keeping bidding visible is because when people see the price of an item jump from 20 mil to 70 mil in one post, and the post is made by the seller - describing a private message, it sparks an awful lot of speculation.

An unscrupulous seller, may gauge interest and drive the bids up themselves, without any way for anyone else interested to validate the bid. I also enjoy anonymity, however unsubstantiated private offers in a thread are typically the catalyst for speculation.

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Get what you are saying but its also comon to know the value of an item regardless the bids when the price comes to a competition i will adapt to your sense of dealing. Until then its my choice to just inspect and comment on posts that makes sense to a greed dealer vs a normal buyer/seller.

Ok, lots of good (and bad) points in this thread, but keep in mind this is an auction not a discussion. If you wish to discuss something start a discussion thread.

(A sticky is in the works regarding safe/fair auctions)
