One of the BEST analogies I have seen in a long time.you can do the events with all kind of char, some template just requires more time than others. That's not imbalance, it's just peculiarity

I think this poll has been a good one and some good answers as to why bigger, stronger, faster pets are not needed (does anyone else want to sing Harder, Better, Faster by Daft Punk looking at this topic?)

But honestly... when the dread mare and greater dragons were introduced it really made tamers overpowered. Thru other means, they have leveled out a bit, but lets not make that mistake again.

I don't know in pvp but in pvm now the tamer is the worst profession you can imagine of.
It just doesn't make sense to travel with a greater dragon that costs you 310 skill points (90 vet included for ressing) when you can do faster and better with 110 mystic and 110 focus/imbuing AND kill things you can't even dare to approach with a pet (slasher, stygian dragon, minions, champions - but barracoon, it has high hit dispel, necromobs - pack of spellcasters and so on).
So it has not been "leveled out a bit": the designers killed it, buried it and then happily peed on its tomb.
Of course we can say the same of many other professions (the pure warrior and the bomberman, just to name two very funny pvm chars of the past).
