Pet Training: Bushido

I'm trying to train bushido on a fire beetle currently, and it is incredibly slow. Can anyone please give me some advice for training this skill on my pet?

After several days of training I have got the skill to 62.4, at this rate I can't imagine how many weeks/months it will take to get to 120. :(

Any advice will be appreciated.

Did you train Feint into your beetle to activate Bushido? I've found when it's the 'passive' bushido it is really slow to raise. I ended up going to the slimes in Underworld and just let it go crazy and it seems to raise pretty quickly. Once the skill goes up substantially, you can likely discord for more consistent gains.

I trained it via the slashing mastery.
I will try slimes in the underworld, thanks for the tip.

weird I haven't had any troubles with training it on my triton its in the 90s now. I've done like 4 scalis and 1 zippy push and that the extent of "training" besides a few random things I did just to see how his aoe build is working. The passive ninjitsu on him is even in like the 70s if I remember correctly. Maybe its just seems slow because ur constantly watching it expecting it to move? Try just doing a boss or roof or something and don't check the lore till after maybe it will more faster if ur not watching :p

Slashing
Trains the creature in the nerve strike, armor ignore, and disarm special moves. Also trains the creature in the Focused Eye & Onslaught mastery abilities.

Only the Nerve strike uses Bushido. Between normal hit and those 3 plus the masteries, you have a 1 in 6 chance of using Bushido. So it needs something like the slug pit.

Gregorio. He's immune to damage (unless you're on a specific quest) and he doesn't deal much damage, especially if you Disarm his Pitchfork. You can have a pet sit on him all day training as you watch something on another monitor. He's the best for training Anatomy/Poisoning and most Magic skills on. He even works for players to train LJ up to GM on.

But yeah, only the Nerve Strike is utilizing Bushido. Disarm can actually be pretty bad against some mobs, if you disarm Medusa or a Dread Pirate, they start doing a LOT more damage. Focused Eye sucks down Mana like a hog. I haven't seen any Slashing pet actually use Onslaught.

Thanks everyone for the advice. The skill is moving faster in the slug pit, but it's still slow. I think the problem is due to the fact that only one skill is using bushido and there is a small chance of the pet using that skill each time.

With training other magic skills in the past, I have had the luxury of being able to force the pet to be at range, and increase the chance of using the magic skill I was trying to train. But that is not possible with bushido, so I think I'll just have to make do with the slow gains I'm getting.

How do you make the pet to use rage?

Put typos in its name?
Seriously Rage is an interesting special on pets. I have seen Bakes come with it naturally. Do we add rage in special moves somehow, I know it is ? part of level 2-3 masteries for taming. Any more info on rage in pets?

Have you trained a pet? The choices are the same on all pets only changes are tail swipe, sticky skin etc based on body type.

Rage is on Tsuki wolves and bakes naturally. And it does not use an ability choice, so those can get builds like Tritons. They just don't have the points.

No. You can not add it.

I think if rage could go on a pet, we would certainly use it. If only for the cool noise they make.
