Currently, i think that you can only dye ethereal mounts (normal color or transparent) using a 12 vet reward

oh no im not refering to the normal/transparent colors. I'm refering to actually being able to dye them different colors or anything, not making them transparent but actually making them a color that they can't be right now in the game. I dunno if that makes sence? :p

If this is the case then wouldn't it potentially make any and all pets/animals that are already dyed a color that they aren't normally just a common pet that anyone can get, making the value of that pet/animal almost worthless? That's why im wondering if there will be "pet dyes" or a way to dye pets/animals later on, can anyone elaborate on this?

As for the special colours it depends what palette of colours they would allow.
Blaze I hope not, so Blaze CuSidhes would still be rare. Others would lose their 'rareness'. But then who really cares?

The impression I received was that the Developers would revisit it at a later date. At another point it was suggested popular tamables might begin to spawn in a wider range of hues.

Do you think this could possibly be "Years" down the road if they even consider to do something like this? I would much rather they make the adjustment to the already popular tameables to spawn in a much wider range of hues, for example the cu sidhes and hyrus (or hiryus however u spell it) rather then doing this to the majority of the tameables. Can anyone confirm though if this is right around the corner (next expansion or publish) or if its more then likely years down the road? I myself am not sure how many times this question has been asked over the years or how many years it's even been asked for lol.

I am not even sure the developers know what they will introduce in the next 6 months, but my crystal ball says no pet dyes or other coloured spawn will be introduced in the next 6 months

They have enough to do with a storyline ... if that continues and bugfixes (HS)

The general feedback they received from that survey was dislike (based on the examples of the dyes given) on how they would be implemented. The way the pets looked, was as if someone spilled paint all over them. It was a poor concept (similar to the air fresherers on TC). The pets lost detail and shading (or whatever the appropriate art term is). The developers decided to table the effort and revisit. I heard in another post that some players were approached during the game to discuss a similar topic: http://vboards.stratics.com/uhall/231464-devs-request-dragons-sea-serpents.html .

Looks like a big brush. Inf. uses. Backpack use. And on LS for some time I offered to exchange eth for eth, rehued. The tool also changes an eth back to normal. The tool has vannish out of the box of eths I kept it in at my keep.
So I no longer pick rewards untill things stop vannishing from the game. I did get the boura though, just no tool to try on it.

The way they reacted to the swampy armor coloring I would say no time in the future. This was another they have no clue.

Player dyes an item in the game that will break.

Player runs out of dyes

Player goes to Codes to buy more dyes.

I have to give the team props for keeping money out of EAs pocket with this.

The devs already said they scrapped this idea a while ago due to a large majority of people that put in their imput saying they were against it.

Ok firstly I am supposed to be quitting UO so I shouldn't even be here.

I started playing UO in late 2002, myself and my four kids.

I had been playing console games for a while before that so I was accustomed to playing solo, and after some false starts on shards with pretty names like Formosa and Oceana, I finally settled on Baja.

I played a female smith/miner pretty much solo for a year and a half, only talking to one or two people on Baja during that time.

I am not sure if it was because I was always out mining or if people were just stuck up back in 2003-2004.

Anyhow one day one of my daughters came and said Mom you can dye pets on test.

So I said cool let me go check it out.

I logged on to Test Sosaria and didn't leave test shard(s) for 2 years. It was way more fun than Baja, even though test back then we started with 1000 gp just like any newb char and got no freebies except char advancement gates in the EM hall, and if a dev happened a long and felt like giving us a free ethy.

Lined up in front of Brit bank on Test Sosaria was a row of pedestals with dye tubs locked down on top, courtesy of Speedman.

My first dyed pet was a dryad green horse.

My coolest was a pink psychedelic pack beetle (blue originally), dyed by Farmer, umm, Underhill, I think, pretty sure that is/was Leurocian, creator of paragons (and maybe a lot or all of Ilshenar as well).

Hanse, the UO designer who designed Malas, was on Test Sosaria a lot, he built a small house attached to the guard tower near Brit bank and set up 8 universal dye tubs for us.

He co-owned a couple of players who friended a few more and they dyed things for us.

Hanse was nice enough to stop in every day and redye the tubs, since one tub could dye over another, and sometimes someone would dye over a tub and we'd have two or more the same color. Once a saboteur was let in and he dyed all the tubs the color of mud.

:<

The universal tubs could dye anything except our underwear, sewing kits, and glass potion bottles. I think that's all we could NOT dye.

I personally love color and think pet dyes done correctly would add a lot to the game in terms of players being able to create more unique characters.

There may be 100 Bobs on Atlantic for example, but only one of those got lucky enough to get a black horse with a green eye, which was one of the colors of someone's pet on Test that had been dyed by a Dev. Hue number: 1198

I am all for pet dyes in reasonable colors, the current pet 'freshner' dyes on test are NOT reasonable since the entire pet is dyed one color.

I'd probably prefer pet dyes be offered in game via a menu as a reward for solving an abyss puzzle rather than something in a bottle that could be duped, since I despise gold sellers and can already see their greedy little eyes lighting up at the thought of another way to profit off UO.

Say yes to pet dyes!

Incorrect. The majority(not by much) were for the idea but a very vocal minority mounted an effective opposition campaign against it and the team folded on the idea.

Colors make people cry. This will not go in.

As far as pet dyes are concerned I'm not against them so long as we don't have blaze, that atomic blue, or gods forbid the abyssal color running about. I'm not even into the paragon gold or any of that.

I would be fine with a crimson red, black/deep gray, hunter green, forest green, royal blue, midnight blue, Chocolate brown, tan, beige, dark voilet, pink(deep dull pink not super bright), silver gray, and maybe a golden color.

I do not want to see pastel colors like the boat paints and I'm still wishing they would add some deeper colors to boat paint. I want more of a forest green or hunter green not pastel green.... puke me, and a deep blue like midnight blue.

And as a FINAL point I don't want anything that just dumps the entire color over the animals washing out all details and shading. I want it done RIGHT. Which I personally do not believe that this current art team is capable of so.... that said I would prefer that it never happened at all and remained only on Test until they hire an art team capable of more complex art... preferably ones who passed perspective 101. And you can say that I'm crude, mean spirited or whatever but I think the art of late speaks for itself. Anyone not thinking I'm right look at your floating in the air silver sapling, the god awful new pots from the 13th anniversary collection.... or the giant rocking horse and the misaligned firefly lights. Then you can tell me how utterly awesome you think they are.

On a side note, I don't know about you but my christmas tree lights make my house all bright and lit up! I wonder if Mesanna ever reads these kind of threads?

I wouldn't, but she probably does on occasion. Mesanna does a lot of her talking to actual players in the UO. I know it's a shocker. Rather than listen to the garbage here(note: I spread garbage here.) she talks to people that are paying customers. It's hard to say who actually pays for UO or not on these boards.

The art isn't going to get any better until we stop with this dual client waste of time. You can't code for both clients and make everyone happy. I'm sure the board warriors here could but the actual artists that make them don't seem to be able to meet both ends of the stick they usually get poked with.

I also like the lights.
