Pet corpses and decay rate.

When my beetle died, I assumed I was going to have enough time to get the pet's items out of it's backpack.

Well, guess what? It's corpse decayed long before my own corpse decayed and I ended up losing the items in the pet's corpse.

Could an EA/Mythic dev please look into changing the pet corpse decay rate so that it takes at least as long as a player's corpse?

Since the game is supposed to be tracking both me and my pet it's corpse should take the same length of time to decay as mine does.

This bug has been around for a very long time, and nothing has been done to fix it.

I wouldn't say it's a bug, but it's definitely something that would be great if they changed how it works. Right now packies and beetles corspes decay just as fast as any other monster in the game. Maybe they could change it so all tamed monster corpses take 14 minutes to decay like our corpses...

Why do they need all tamed monster corpses? I think only those which can carry items in them EG pack horse, pack llama, beetle, horde minion, and any other animal or monster that has it's own backpack or container.

There might have been some benefit when tamed high-level pets (EG dragon) looted corpses for you but I think they turned that off.

Oh they wouldn't, I'd just think it would be easier to code that way. :p

I agree it's annoying... many times when I die down in the Weld or something with my beetle by the time I go out run to the shrine get a rez and run back.... my beetle's body is gone.

Happens to my crafter quite often it'll run out of the house on me kill something get me killed and by the time I find a healer get a rez and return I've lost my stuff...

Almost negates the benefit of the beetle sometimes since it really stinks to lose all your stuff. I'm forever afraid that I'll have a massive client crash or something while I'm not on the beetle and lose it.

Wish I could think of an easy fix for the issue that wasn't exploitable... but I can't outside of lengthening the timer on pet decay. I've found that in a champ spawn area the increased decay rate often applies to dead pets as well.
