Persistence (Red) Essence, what should i do with you??

Hi, i was thinking of something the developers of UO to do with this Persistence Essence.
Right now there is absolutlely no use for it. So my idea is this...

You need 5 Enchanted (Green Essence), ?? gems and 10 Persistence Essence to "Remove one property" off an imbued gear. Example you have 5 properties. You use Persistence to remove one property making it 4 out of 5. Now you can fix your imbued gear to something else without having to re-powder of fortify and add everything else again. Is this consider too powerful??

I make gear for friends as well as myself and sometimes i make a mistake and cant go back to change it.

Please post questions or comments if this is a Good or bad idea...

Thank you!

I like the idea of having Persistence do something but not necessarily your idea :) Imbuing is already one of the most used crafting skills. If you give an imbuer the ability to remove stuff that they don't want then they almost don't even need any other craft skills.

I like it in a sense. I like the idea of being able to remove a property but I think that if we go down that route it would have to be something that comes with a lot of risks. At that point I think you would need to use relic fragments as well as essence of persistence and have a low chance of success.

thinking along the lines of "persistence" why not use it to imbue the casting focus property?

I'll wager Essence of Persistence (Red) & Direction (Dark Blue)will be used for something like "Damage Eater" and or "Resonance" with imbuing in the future

If it would be used possibly for removing properties from existing items, something with Quest reward loot & Monster loot would have to be increased based on monster/quest difficulty.

because imbuing is way overpowered right now, nerfing i dont think is the way to fix it since so many "good" imbued items exist, there should be an increase in loot to help balance this out.

Personally I'd like to use it to "Alter" items.

Take a Crimson Cincture and make it into a Woodland belt for my Elves.

Take the Hunters Headdress and make it into a Kassa or a floppy hat or a Bandanna...

That would be my wish... So long as whatever you alter retains ALL the properties of what you are wanting and it fits the same slot.

You would not be able to take say... The Iron Crown and make it a bandanna... it must remain in the same category... can't remove the fact that it's considered like plate...

acctually the removal of a property is a great idea as it is now you can change slayers from one type to another overwriteing the previous one also hit cast and hit area spells can be changed from one type to another why not give us removal of a property.

it would be nice to do away with the exp bonus as well make all loot be able to obtain max imbuing intensity

I would love to be able to remove properties. Me likey this idea. A lot.
I was looking at a piece of armor just last night and I was wishing I could remove the lrc and replace it with lmc.

Instead of remove have a random generated mod replace the target mod. Even with the chance of doubling up a mod. Have a piece with 20LRC and nightsite. Random hit the nightsite becomes 17 LRC for 37LRC on one piece. Also would have to limit an item to only one imbue mod flip and no longer imbuable.

I like this idea. It would be the most useful, as it would eliminate the need for us to wear shrouds and robes to cover up the fact that we're wearing clown outfits. Matching pieces is now nearly impossible, and I am tired of my characters having to wear a Kasa to complete a suit.

While I like the possibility of removing properties, I do feel that this should be a runic tool function as part of an effort to make them viable again. Along this line, runic tools should also be improved to allow a crafter to create 100% fire, cold, etc. weapons. Perhaps requiring additional ingredients to make it happen.

We've talked about altering items many times before, and I am saddened that this never comes up in any of the dev chats. But, one day ...
