Can anyone confirm if the crashing has stopped? Id like some proof of a fix before i resub. Apperently Gilmour has already had a crash at navrey which is a very common spot for it to happen.

I think that they have confirmed that there is more than one cause for the crashes and that they have fixed one of them.

...

I haven't had the EC crash in a LONG time, though I have noticed at least today that boat movement has become much choppier, but that may be due to my connection more than the patch itself.

Ever since the last patch I had no crashes, but I don't play as much as I used too either...

There is no way to prove that there will be no more EC crashes.

They fixed one bug, there are probably hundreds if not thousands more.

I can confirm that I have had one crash since the fix, so there really is more than one bug that it causing it. I just entered Hythloth, and was looking at my desktop just as a Hellhound walked up to greet me. I was surprised and pleased that my unarmed character was still alive when I finally logged back on.

I haven't crashed recently, but then I wasn't crashing as much as some people in the first place

They can be hard to find. I remember a crash bug few years ago, before KR or EC, that had everyone examining and comparing their video cards, only to find in the end that the problem was caused by a particular make and model of sound card.

to many options thats the problem theres to much software and hardware out in the world today makeing unexpected conflicts arise who knows your pc might have a big chunk of uo in a bad sector or that browser addon messed up a setting with your tcpip settings and rerouted you threw timbucktoo accept that the system is never perfect and live with it at least we dont have a drawback like hardcore rules you die your dead yes its inconveniant when i crash but its rare enough i don't sweat it. I use EC i think in last 6 months i have had 3 or 4 crashes. My problem is my internet connection allways disconecting me :wall::cursing::wall: so if your crashing often then you might want to check out if theres some software/hardware conflict before you blame the game.

Since the last patch, I did a few runs around Luna and didn't have any crashes and I didn't lag out, which was surprising.

Well I never did crash much anyway, but I did crash once yesterday. I've noticed it starts to run pretty erratically after about 3 or 4 hours of play. Kinda reminds me of the old "memory leak" problems.

I play EC and have about 5 crashes to desktop a week. I have noticed that a few minutes before the crash, some sounds become distorted. The recall sound will have a scratchy sounding portion. If I don't shut down and restart the client immediately, I will crash. The restart always fixes the problem until the next time. From the time that the distortion starts until the crash is about 5 minutes usually.

makes me think you have a problem with your DAC in your sound card. This sounds (pun intended) like a buffer not being cleared. Not sure if this is software or hardware related, but I would see if you still crash if you disable your soundcard for a while in your control panel. Had similar issues using on-board audio card trying to play multiple media players via multiple sound cards, this was caused by a faulty audio driver.

Since so many people play the EC without ever crashing, i think it has to be some hardware - software combination that causes the trouble. I, for one, have never crashed using the EC, or maybe once... I also rarely crash using the CC.

Graphic cards may not be the problem. I have often wondered about the sound card connection, since in the EC I do notice that when recalling into busy area's i hear a bunch of stacked sounds that I do not appreciate when recalling into the same area with the CC. Also, we focus heavily on the graphics demands of complex spell effects, but the sounds are also multiple and with various layers. Particularly in busy areas during EM events... and that is when a lot of people have reported crashes. I can reduce the particle and graphics aspect of the client, not sure if I can truly turn off the sound processing (i can turn the sound volume down to 0) in the client. Hence my suggestion to just disable the sound card in the control panel. Just a thought. can't test it, as I don't crash.

i'm in CC, but w/o a working sound card, mine (and others) won't even run, just errors out. I wished they'd have a client start up option for sound - for troubleshooting purposes if nothing else

Does the ec also error out w/o a sound card ? Not at my pc, or I would check it.
