Parry without shield?

I've been told that having a shield with high parry only slows your chance down of being able to effectively parry. So, if this is true...then the only benefit of carrying a shield is the mods it carries. So, if your main focus is to parry and not the mods your shield may carry, then leave the shield off?

Anyone else know this to be true?

Not true UNLESS you have bushido. If you are going to have high parry/bushido, you'll want to go with a two handed weapon for max parry effectiveness. A one handed weapon will also work but less effectively. However, if you use a shield, you actually get a penalty if memory serves me.

Ah, thank you Aang and thank you Gildar. Especially for the link. It answered my question completely. :)
