Paragon Fire Breath too strong?

In my opinion they are. Lava Lizards doing around 30 damage, Flaming Gargoyles doing around 60 and Dragons around 80 is a bit too much.
Those paragons are faster than normal ones and have more power and hp. These strong fire breathes make them a bit unbalanced.

Your thoughts?!

Their fire damage is based on their current hit points. Paragons aren't just supposed to have more hit points; they are supposed to be a greater challenge and the Fire Breath is perfect the the way it currently works on the gold creatures in Ilsh.

So I'd have to say no. Their Fire Breath is not too strong.

IMHO Drakes doing 60 and Flaming gargoyles doing 60 is a little much.
I can understand paragon dragons. The lava lizards seem fine

I wish there were more ways to parry or deflect that damage

Well i see it from the way doing a spawn with those creatures. Alone i would say, they are ok the way they are. But when you can die by 2 firebreaths of 2 flaming gargoyles or drakes, its a bit unbalanced. The only way is to seperate them and kill them and then again move to the rest of the spawn.
Btw, the fire damage isnt based on their hit points. Maybe when they reach about 1/10 of their hit points, how it works with the abscess.

Dragon firebreath most certainly is.
Agreed, it's been a while, but it seems like a Linear Reduction or whatever, as health decreases.

A normal Greater Dragon annihilated me yesterday with it's fire breath at near full health, let alone Paragon Dragon :hahaha: I guess that's what I get for an Armour Suit not geared towards resists.

It's a bit annoying when you are one hit killed, but on occasions you get used to predicting the same recurring interval between breaths, where you can briefly ensure you're out of range when it bellows. Can usually pull it off in Destard, where the space is available.

Hm, it's been my experience that Greater Dragons are harder (for a swordsman) than paragon dragons. Then again, perhaps it's just me.

Last night I fought my very first Paragon Greater Dragon. 165 Breath Damage , 70% Fire resistance. I think it should be capped around 100 damage max.

I have many opinions on this and in the end its not worth posting i keep going on and on about stuff. Yes the dmg is a bit high but then they are paragons! Try a greater dragon paragon they are fun.

I can understand the frustration about how much damage they do...but they are paragons, they are not suppose to be easy. There should be a sense of pride on the monsters you can take down after a struggle.

Greater dragon paragon, for example, should not be a monster you can solo. There are just too many monsters you can solo.

But yes, firebreath is based off of hitpoints. So you simply need to fight through it and get the hitpoints lower.

I havn't really played in a while now, all I know is the Firebreath from either trashes me in a single blow, hehe. If I'm not mistaken though, Paragons generally have additional speed to that of it's normal version, and combined with their (enhanced?) Melee attack damage; it'd probably also kill me in one blow.

My character's pretty fragile, what can I say.

Agreed, if there is one kicking about, then stay warey and realise you might be starting to swim into the deep end of what your character/your own skills are capable of handling. Anyway, if you know what you're doing, their one hit killer may never touch you

No offense, but isn't trammel UO on easy mode? Paragons were added to make things more challenging...especially since modern UO armor/weaponry/skill nerfed the original challenge to begin with.

IMO...Kudos to the devs for ppl still having to run for their lives under the trammel ruleset.

I'd say "Go Back To Fel Noob" but it just doesn't sound quite right....

Yes there should be. However, loot on most para's blow swanch, and the silly worthless marty's hardly justify one hit death blows.

Well not easy to find people for fel champs these days on our shard. The zerg guilds and alliances keep people away.
Maybe you are right that paragons should be that strong, but I still find it annoying getting hit from almost out of the screen for such high damage.

For the breath weapons doing 3-digit damage, it is almost certainly a bug.

Devs capped breath damage at 200 (before resists) several years ago, so nothing should be able to do 70+ damage per breath through 70s resists, unless you have Enemy of One against something else.

It worked fine for a while, but it seems to have broken with paragons since about ML.

Me thinks Paragons are just fine as is. Blackrock infected greater dragons remind me of their paragon cousins. Both are challenging but fun.

Short answer....Tic Tacs.
It tones down firebreath so that it is more tolerable.

I've never been hit by a paragon greater breath more than 70 with any char that has 70 fire. I don't believe it could do 165 without Eoe either. They are rough to kill though. Maybe it would do double if you had the wrong spellbook in your hand. The last time I checked that was still working, but that still only takes you up to 140.

165 damage seems high to me.
