Paly advice for SP ruleset

I`ve alway dabbled in SP here and there but never gave it a real go. For about 3 weeks now I been working a couple chars up here and pretty much put LS behind me.I really started with no direction in templates and just figured I`d plug along for awhile. A mage template seems like it would be pretty straight forward here but a fighter template on the other hand is giving me some problems, only because of this ruleset. I admit I`m no SP pro so I may have some misconceptions but I`m pretty sure one can not get away with zero Resist for instance here....maybe they can? Well, I`m thinking my first toon will be a paly/swords type. This is what I have for a template but I`ve wound up with 8 skills and I`m not sure which one I can live without.....without turning me into PK fodder.

Swords
Tactics
Anatomy
Healing
Resist
Chivalry
Focus
Hiding

Very few is much over 70 so I`ll spare numbers I`m more just lookin for advice in what others use on this shard for similar char`s. I`m assuming hiding is a must.... resist I can`t see being anywhere near pvp with no resist....focus,I don`t wanna be in a lose all world and have to depend on items or a weapon to keep me in mana. Decisions, decisions.

What should I drop? What do you run?

I`ve checked out the skills forums but none of those really give good direction on a SP ruleset since all those samp/wammy builds are item heavy.

Perfect.

Thanks for some intel. That gives me an idea of whats important here. Only question is why Med instead of Focus?

With med I`d be pushed into leather armor only. With focus I could have free range of what to wear w/o regen penalties. At least this is how I understand it.

Leather armor is just as good as any other armor, and more readily available. Focus mana regen rate is far slower than med.

If you need any help on SP, drop me a line. I am preparing to play a different shard so I can give ya some stuff there.

Doh! Forgot bout Parry. As I logged in to mess with skills on said toon I realized I have parry as well.

Not important in a PVP scene?

Sorry for the questions, just so used to prodo shards and in all honesty never really played a fighter toon much lately.Always seem to be on the mage types till this server.

I`m finding it easier to pick cotten than pick up regs, lol. I`ll be stickin with the fighter for awhile,at least till I can start makin some money and things start picking up.

*edit*
Thanks a ton for the offer of help. I`m tryin to ruff it as much as possible. Gathering cotten for bandies, all the tedious things I`d NEVER do on a prodo shard. I`ve thought about joining NEW but really I wanna build my empire out of the dirt I started with here in SP,lol. Thanks anyways though, much appreciated.

I'd personally drop hiding for parry, and run stats based on the weapon you bless.

The template Speedy told you is dead on. And like he said drop the hiding for parry.

Ghengis Khan plays a very similar template, and plays it pretty well. Since you are running healing and thus going to be running high dex, I'd go with a high base damage weap, it's useless to run 150 dex with a dagger, or bok, or kryss, so you may as well run something like a leaf blade etc. Or just a medium speed weap like a kat, but don't put SSI on it since your dex will be high enough to nullify the need for it.

With med I`d be pushed into leather armor only. With focus I could have free range of what to wear w/o regen penalties. At least this is how I understand it.
Med = 1 point of mana regen for every 10 points so with 50 med you have Mana Regen of 5.

Focus = 1 point of mana regen for every 20 points with 50 focus you have mana regen of 2

Additionally if you wear meddable armor you will receive the base regen of 2. Wearing non-meddable armor you don't get that. So you would have a total mana regen of 7 with leather, still only 2 with Focus. Also if you stick with Human JoAT will give you 20 focus even without putting skills into it so you effectively will have 8 regen if you're human.

Leather Armor can be just as high of resist as metal, so there's no inherent disadvantage to leather only.

Gonna pretty much mirror Speedy`s advice except gotta lose 25 points sumwhere since I only have 705 to deal with but thats no big deal. I SOOOO wish I would have kept my old account back when I knew I wasn`t commin back, hehe.

So far SP`s ALOT of fun. Even been PK`d a few times. I`m stayin away from hot spots for the time being till I can at least defend myself. The challenge of collecting all your resources and pretty much having no leg up on anything makes the game so much more interesting. I`m excited about my tradesmen being valued once more too. I got laid off a couple weeks ago for the winter,so I gots lots of time to learn how to RUUUUUUUUUNNNN!!!!! For now..... :fight: =) Thanks all for the advice and intel.

What are you doing with that temp? pvp or pvm. Either way I think it is a horrid temp for a siege newbie. Usually I think kage and speedy give great advice, but i feel this isnt the case now. Here is why, if you plan on pvpin you will be toast when you are dismounted. Notice i didnt said if you are dismounted, becuase it wont take long for your opponents to realize you are fubar'd when dismounted. And when you die quickly from being dismounted plan on being dismounted on sight. It is also a very costly pvp temp to run. You will be blessing your weapon ok so fc1 on weapon how are going to make up the other 3fc/6fcr while having max hci/dci. If you are in factions it wont be as hard to get but still costly upon death. The way I look at it when you die running that temp it will cost you the minimum of 700k to replace your gear. While that is easy for kage and speedy, it might not be so easy for new people to the shard. If you gots the gold to burn than go for it.

As for Ghengis running that template good, that is a joke. The guy only fights people that flag and never runs more than 4 screens from a house he has access to. The second he is dismounted he runs back into a house.

pvp - 120 weapon, 90 tact, 90 anat, 90 heal, 85 ninja, 115 resist, rest into either bushido at 115 or a split between med and chiv. I would go for bushido. And you dont have to run resist, could always drop that and run parry instead.

pvm - 120 weapon, 90 tact, 100 anat, 100 necro, 60 chiv, 120 bushido, 115 parry

Well he did say pally advice Mr. Hugems... And I did not take into consideration that everyone cant play a pally like me you know how I'm I go balls out :) 4/6 chiv with anat and healing I will not die... even if dismounted. When I run a dexer with no ninja, hide, or stealth, I normally always have 2 pet balls just for that situation... But thats just me :)
