OT: Where does your internet handle/char name come from?

I believe everyone has a story about how they come up with their main internet handles, anyone want to indulge me?

archite666- It was a character dark elder could take out of warhammer 40k, i liked the way it sounded. then added the triple 6 because I think archite was already taken on AOL.

Cash- Well....its my first name, lame I know but I use it anyway.

Queen Zen son named my first chr. Queen Zen. Queen, HE named that chr. 'Queen' for the roleplayer in me

and the zen son put Zen on her name cuz she would be like a

Zen buddist royal, deep into meditation *deep thought* & enlightenment,

Zen is seen also nearly closed circle symbol, appearing to be, nearly whole, with no beginning, nor an end.

LIKE MY RUN ON SENTANCES going around and around and around... LOL

Not my fault, my rl son named my first ever UO chr. Queen Zen, for me.

Obviously, "Forsaken" is not original. But, I did start using this name when I was 14 yrs old or so, and got the idea from that N64 game called, "Forsaken 64". I used to draw a lot. . .Was at our family friends house on the weekend (pretty much every weekend), and decided to draw the girl off the game box. Looked pretty good actually. Started using the name ever since.

I used to use, "RL Polo" as my tamer/crafter when I came to Siege. That was well, my Ralph Lauren Polo phase from high school and even my Computer Programming class required us to create an email for the class. I used RL Polo for that as well, lol!

Carbon Copy being the newest one, Nym and I wanted to stealth bok everyone on the shard with exact name, suit, hair, etc. We did it for about a month I'd say, but he went MIA, and now we have a lot of Carbon Copys who totally missed the concept.

I mean really black panther? Take the name of a black activist group and call it a super hero?

Theres been a couple other ones that I can't remember but I just don't know how companies like marvel and DC got away with it without coming off as cheesy.

My third attempt at an identity on the internet in 1998 ( the other two names I wanted were taken ). The 22 after is my birth date.

It wasn't until later that my trolling, flaming posts offended someone very badly ( Unmoderated and Uncensored Yahoo Christian vs. Atheist Forum ), and they told me that my name was also the name of a serial killer.

Now there is some young kid who keeps signing up to sites like facebook and using my e-mail address as his default e-mail address. I simply retrieve password ( which gets sent to me ), and change his profile or delete it entirely. Sadly, one imposter shows up in the search results above me ( vampirefreaks.com ).

The internet is my playground, you PVP Board kiddies should consider yourself lucky that my nightstalker persona is laid back on this forum!!!

I managed to get a post deleted on an uncensored forum... the only deleted post in the forums now 11 year history... Yahoo can't take a joke?

touzoko- thief/robber in Japanese.
My character, Nezumi-kozo, means "rat-boy", after a famous thief. He stole an IMMENSE amount of money from the samurai nobles of his time. Some claimed he spread the wealth among the poor, and some claimed he drank it all up, what he didn't spend on the women.

My own poor view lies somewhere in between. A lot of daimyo never reported the thefts due to embarrasment and loss of face. Jirokichi (his real name) was extremely popular among the lower class. I think some of the slur was an attempt to sully his reputation. When you find out exactly how much he stole that was reported, it would be really hard to sleep and drink that much away in a 10 year span. The establishment would have been eager to ruin his name.

On the other hand, perhaps he wasn't completely altruistic either. Rumor has it that he would throw money to the peasants as he would make his escape. You'd be less likely to report or point the direction of someone that had just given you money.......

He carried a bag of trained rats on his thefts. When released, if anyone waking saw them, they would suppose that it had made whatever noise they had heard.

Eventually he was caught, and beheaded. He had a good run though. He also divorced his wife, so that she and children did not share his fate on the field of execution.

My belief is that he headed for the nearest healer, and continued his escapades somewhere else.....

I try to pick names who's meaning has something to do with the skills the character has, but some of mine, like Xenna, Faeryl Tyr'athem and Kah'ida I just randomly made up on the spot. The name of one of my other characters, when she has her Lady title, is a reference to a movie that only one person has caught so far, Lady Hawke

As for my two Siege characters, Zoot and Dingo... well, anyone who's seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail would know who they are

Mine are taken from things that have meant something to me.

Alizaren - stolen from Alizaren Crimson, my favorite oil paint hue from when I used to paint.

Rilla - a favorite literary character, the youngest daughter of Anne Blythe (from Anne of Green Gables). She was the main character in the last book of the Anne of Green Gables series.

December - stolen from the song title "A Long December" (Counting Crows) because it was song that a friend and myself shared a fondness for. He was teaching his mother to play it on the guitar shortly before he was killed in a car accident. So, whenever I hear that song or play the character, I think of him.

Way back in the day, I parked a character deep in shame and picked chests for the loots, with a rune and magery I could recall to my chests and have my bank box open.

I named him Nabber and have been playing it ever since.

My guild used to make companion characters, Gara made KTA and I made Lgsto.

I do not think those 2 should be hard to figure out.

BlacK RaiN comes from when I was trying to pick a name and I had just put in the movie "Comming to America" and the preview for the movie Black Rain came on... so I was like, meh... ok.

Draxous comes from 3 different places... the game Hexxen there is a move called Quietness... which lead me to my final fantasy characters name Quintus. He was originally going to be a tamer so I combined Dragon or Drake and Quintus for Draxous.

AciD RaiN is my best friend Matts characters name... he made a play off of BlacK RaiN of course.


I have many more characters and reasons for each of their names but I no longer feel like typing anymore...

My first stratics name was also my first UO char name- Hannah Hellfire. When I first started playing UO, I wanted a name that was similar to one of hubby's char names. He had a char by the name of Crusoe Hellfire. I thought that was a good last name. I liked the name Hannah and thought the two names went well together. I also have a Hailey Hellfire on Atlantic.

When I came to Siege, I *almost* made another Hannah Hellfire, but something stopped me. As I was staring at the Char creation screen, I decided I wanted a char name that reflected what my profession would be- a crafter. I started thinking about the tools a crafter uses and "pickaxe" popped into my head. "Patty" was the first girl's name that popped in my head next. I liked it and Patty Pickaxe was Born.

After Stratics blew up, I started using Patty Pickaxe on the boards bc Hubby plays the char Hannah Hellfire on Siege. I got so many nasty PMs from people yelling at me bc "I" killed/looted/rez-killed them!

I only have two active chars same as my board name, mage tamer on Atl and not very advanced pally here... although I have always used variations on either Kitty Scarlett ( which arose unoriginally enough from the heroine of Gone With The Wind ) online, then after creating the original Cat on Atl, Cat Crimson. The latter was always supposed to be more of a " bad girl " character. Not just on the side of ingame evil ( which she is ) but also I always visualised her as something like a brassy dancing girl from an Old West saloon, all corsets and red petticoats and hiding the anti hero in her boudoir from the bad guys

My other main char on Siege is as some of you know, the crafter Eric's Kitty. There was an Eric, in UO, and in RL. He has gone now, both from UO and from my life, and there are times when I wonder sadly whether I should really change the name to something less painful and more relevant.

Uvtha- When I was like 15 or 16 I was big into ccgs, one of which being the LoTR ccg which included cards for the 9 nazgul, one of which was named "Uvatha the Horseman" (which I think was just made up for the game), and while at a friends one night, who had just gotten an internet connection (a very primitave one) and we went to some chat room, and I entered in my name by mispelling/misremembering "Uvatha" as "Uvtha", and later after realizing I made the mistake, I just decided to keep it, liking it better than the regular spelling.

"Ikichet", I just picked a random ratman sounding name. "Ratitichaki" (my alt) was just the neatest sounded name that ratmen could spawn with. "Bazerion" (other alt) named after the UO wizard lord npc, as I had an idea to start an evil mage guild, but I gave up on the idea quickly.

My LS guys "WaBaooie" and "Riller", are just random names I made up on the spot, "Mongbat" (fromerly "A Mongbat" before a GM changed it for some odd reason after 5 years using it) becuase I just thought it would be funny to name myself after the weakest being around (not to trick people into attacking me like EVERYONE thought)
"Not a thief" which was my smith, because I thought it would be funny to be the lone "not a thief" to actually not be one (there were dozens of such people but all of course WERE thieves),
"Torgo", from the excellent MST3K episode "Manos: The hands of fate", whom I never played really, I just made a character when I got the 6th slot one night to visit a friend, but I had stopped playing ls for siege exclusivly by then so there he sits unworked. I also name all of my test chars Torgo as well.

Freja is a nordish fertility Godness, the spelling Freja is danish, other spellings are Freya and Freyja.

I choose the name, when I started playing UO year 1997 and found, it was a good image of what I wanted with my char. I had no idea she would end up red but in fact the Godness Freja do have an evil side too.
