So I was slated to head up into the Sierra Nevada mountain range this week for some SAR training, and to see if I "clicked" with the local team.

Geared up, lashed down, and ready to roll out, they get a call. Female hiker, 22yo, missing in the Santa Cruz mountains somewhere between Santa Cruz and Monterey.

Needless to say, my trip was cancelled, and since I'm not certified yet, wasn't invited along.

ARRRRGH! What a waste of vacation time!

Nice try, but I called work and they need me for the rest of the week. I only wasted 16 hours of vacation, not 40
