OT: If you knew about buried gold..

..and knew what area it was in, knew that it was "probably" still there, and knew almost nobody knew about it, but it wasn't your land.. would you search for it?

I heard a story today from my great-grandmother (102 years old) about her step-father's buried gold, and wonder if it's worth the time and money to search for an unspecified amount of "probably" there gold.

Gold is where you leave it !

First you have to trespass numerous times to just do the looking.
Second, if you found it... you have to transport it to another place for storage.
Third, you have to find a way to sell it.
Fourth, what do you say when someone asks you how you made your money.
By the way, you can not duck this question. Lots of lies.
You can not hide the money either; because, you will spend it.
Last, lots of ways getting caught...
and not just with the public authorities; but, also with the criminals.

Second, I am strong and I doubt there's more than 10 pounds of it.
Third, I'll go to any jewerly/coin shop.
Fourth, I'll say I dug up my great-great-grandfather's buried gold.

The only tricky part is.. I can't tell the landowner that I'm looking for buried gold or they will say I can't search for it and they'll look themselves. I'd need to be creative.

By the way, 10 lbs is ~$100,000, so I'd be happy with less.

Indeed sounds like a good plan. Just tell the landowner your looking for a "timecapsule" that a relative and friends left, lots of kids have done this over the years. Sentimental value and family history can go a long way.
