Orcs deserve to be a player race already!

Hopefully in a future booster, everyday for the past 10 years I have awaited the arrival of orcs as a player race, I currently roleplay as an orc and I have been in many orc based guilds, we have orc armor and can style our houses to look like orc huts and forts, we have a language called black speech which is common among orc roleplayers, people who have roleplayed as orcs would know as well, the dedication it takes to roleplay as an orc, before elves they were the SECOND most popular race to roleplay as besides a human, and they should have came long before elves & gargoyles, meanwhile the developers sit quietly and never mention if there will ever be an orc player race or not, not one peep from the developers when a good portion of the player base has shown that we want them as a player race..

I (and specifically Ugluk, my orc) would like this. However, they've already given us all the tools we need to play orcs except one - the only way to have the right colour skin currently is to be an elf. That somehow sits poorly with my poor orc :p

However, there's an orc skin, the orcish kin mask to allow playing amongst orcs (although that suffers a bit from the AOS item system), and plenty of items to allow one to be an orc.

I'd still love to be able to turn my orc into a true orc, though :)

I agree, I believe that if any one race was to ever have been released, it should have been an Orc race and than and only than should Elves or Gargs been considered. I understand the big part Gargs for example have had in the history of the Ultima series but lets face it, UO has already I believe (though I cannot be certain) gone so far off track when it comes to following some sort of historic story line that even if some other race made more sense, Orcs should have still been the front runner. I say this because of the huge dedication I've seen on multiple shards that players have shown when it comes to playing this race. I have many fond memories of interacting with the extremely large and active Orc guilds that were on Lake Superior, Atlantic, and Siege... So much fun having Orcs demand "Tribut" than have a group 20 strong chase you all around the land south of Yew.

I would have thought they would make orcs before elves or gargoyles. I never saw much RP elves or gargoyles, but there have always been orcs it seems.

Actually for a booster pack idea this could be a cool idea. UO: Orcish Invasion! New player race (orcs), new clans of NPC orcs we can get quests from, murderous red orcs that have advanced into Britannia and their forts filled with treasure that we must slay. Remake some of the old map with these changes, no new land... and..... Catapults!!!

I'd go with that, They said making new races is really hard, But orcs don't need a huge selection of clothing, Just the usual.. Whatever orcs wear stuff. :p

They've already done the hard parts, frankly.

The Standard gear of orcs are ringmail that fits humans and elves, Two-handed Axes, standard bows, and the occasional Orcish Helm.

The only thing really missing was the Orcish Helm as a craftable, and they fixed that in the last year (it's part of the bone armor menu for tailors).

EC orc designs be damned, the lore of UO states that really only the facial features and skin hue distinguish orcs from humans (and the latter is partially a matter of hygiene), and that the "Wild Girl" in the books of the game was captured & raised by orcs, and was mistaken as one initially.

There's no new jobs the orcs would be doing, so no new skills would be needed.

All I can really see as being jobs needing done is designing the racial bonuses (probably resource gathering bonuses, and bonuses to lumberjacking and archery), and using a modified human paperdoll, differing only in hue and head shape (so the only armor that would need changes would be about half the headgear).

They could happily use the elf player model in the 2d client, with your aforementioned face change for the paperdoll. Just lots of nice green and brown hues!

Yay! Id love to turn my orc char into a true orc. They could just sort out some new char art and orc armor and give them +10 hp instead of +20 mana(for elves) and maybe some kinda berserk thing like gargoyles have.

Oh yes and added damage when using axes! (and hammers)
