There's something about this that's bothering me, but I just don't know what it is exactly... To crowded maybe? I want the edges to look natural, not all straight and sharp, but I don't think I'm too great with plant placement :(

What do you guys think?

I like Peanut Butter... but that's just my opinion!

I'm not sure what is off... Hhmmm, maybe the Ice right next to seemingly warm plants?

I've been told that different shades of purples clash, but I'm a guy, so I can't really comment on that...

Personally, I like the natural feel of items as randomly placed as possible. I don't feel like it is too cluttered.

...

I like how items are partially covered by others. That brakes up the... usualness? (yeah, I are good at english!)

...

Maybe throw a rock um in those rapids, that might look interesting. The mined granit might work nice. It also looks liek that area may be walkable and the mined granit doesn't block movement and even works as a sitting bench.

I do notice that a majority of the items used are specifically used to break up the straight edges. Maybe adding some that aren't specifically used for that might help? Just thinking out loud... on keyboard...

oh, maybe place a rock at the bottom of those stone pillars to break up those corners. A different stone on each would break up the symetry, too.

Very nice!
Your design is very beautiful .I love the ice walls; don't change that .But the place I would change is those 2 symetrical columns I would break that up to be rock sticking out of falling water. And not symetrical

maybe switch out the snowdrops on the left for the scattered ones

vary the purples of the Trinsic roses with dyes

love the statues! :)

I would reorient the rocks and plants to make a more natural, rounded pondy shape. For example, when you have two water tiles that are diagonal with grass inbetween them you can use the snowdrops to smooth out the missing water bit. Use the curves and lines of the grass and rocks - snowdrops make great horizontal lines and usually look good at the top and bottom (northwest and southeast) of ponds. Ferns have a good line on them that runs north-south and usually work well on the east side of ponds. Those large doom rocks are nicely rounded and also work well on corners. Try to envision the whole of the edges making a nice circumference and smoothing things out.

This is the shape you have going right now:

There's too many suggestion of north-south and east-west lines, which need to be smoothed out. This is what I would do with it:

Move the statue in a little so its part of an edge, move that brown rock down between the lily pads so its not a distraction, tho it might be ok as is if you fix that fern. Try to form more of a solid boundary than having plants stick out like the fern on the right and the rubble plant on the left. I thin kthe colors are great, I love the hops along the pillars and the white of the snow piles really brings out the white in the stone and the water. And the roses look so nice. It's really very pretty, but it could be just perfect. =)

There's a reason for the snow piles being there, besides the fact that I like the contrast :)

Tried it, but wasn't really liking how it looked.

Not a lot of room to play with that idea...

I like symmetry. I always have to have something symmetrical in my house designs! Since my house has a more natural look, most of it is asymmetrical, which means those pillars are staying as is.

the place I would change is those 2 symetrical columns I would break that up to be rock sticking out of falling water. And not symetrical
See above.

Symmetry makes me happy :)

I don't like to dye the roses because I don't really like how it dyes the leaves as well. If it were just the flowers themselves I'd be all for it!

love the statues!
G'Thunk and Kyrnia :)

Those two have cost me more gold than I care to think about... I think close to 60mil together... And I still need G'Splat and Lathiari to go with them! Not to mention the others I still need...

I moved almost everything around to try and make the general shape you suggested using the lines and curves of the rocks and plants.

This is what I ended up with, which I personally think looks much better than what I started with!

I may still tweak it a little as I continue to work on the house (which is at a standstill until I can find more snow piles), but overall I'm pretty happy with it now :)

Nice modifications! I wasn't aware of your preferences of symetry and snow piles when I made my observations. I can appreciate the contrast of the white snow on the blue water and the contrast of the cold snow so close to warm weather plants, such as ferns.

Yet again, I bow to Sarsmi and her ability to notice things that I couldn't consciously see!

Ultimately, what counts is how you feel about it. I hope you enjoy it, whether it's the current design or another!

And, of course, when done, feel free to share!:thumbup1:

I'd love to see a picture of the full design when you're finished.
What you've shown us looks great!

I'd be more than happy to post a few pictures when I'm done! I've been at this thing for nine months now, but finishing it depends on how often I come across the tall snow piles for sale or in idocs (which isn't too often anymore) :(

What shard are you on?
You might want to try posting on the trade forum for that shard [if you haven't already]

I'm on Atlantic... I think I may already own most of the snow here though :)

I'll try the trade forum though and see if I get anything

Oh I like it! The edges are so nice and smooth now, and it has good balance. Very pretty indeed. =)
