I’d love to hear some advice from Siege players.

I am super impressed with the community effort in doing the artisan festival.

I have been thinking of actually playing the gift placeholder I have on Siege.

The issue I would have is that I have 0 interest in pvp. The artisan festival appeals to me because my playstyle involves tedious boring stuff....gathering, crafting, fishing etc.

With only 1 character and starting fresh, what do you guys think?

Hello ! And welcome ! Well i can say you that SP isn't only pvp... Yes you can be attacked and killed everywhere, but many players in our comunity like play crafters, gatherers, fisher... On SP there is room for all !! The important is that you accept, sometimes, you ca be killed :) ... If you want start a crafter i think you can start a char with tinkering, mining and maybe imbuing... Tailor can be trained using wool from sheeps, blacksmith with ingots from mining, lumberjack will help you for carpentry and fletching, but all need tools ( here on SP most of items have charges for use) so having tinkering will save you time and money... Imbuing can be trained just unraveling items.. But having it a bit higher since begin, will save you much time... if you need more info just ask without problems and remember that in game there is a guild called NEW that help new/returning player to start on SP :D ....Welcome Again !!!

If you join NEW then UWSP (or jump straight to UWSP) you can craft to your heart's content without any PvP ever. Honestly, unless you join them at an EM event, there's little chance you will ever get killed. Even if you do, as a crafter you can wear the standard Tanager suit and lose nothing. So UWSP is a great option.

That said, there are probably several smaller guilds that would love to have a dedicated crafter. The Orcs come to mind right away. Might want to just jump in General Chat a few times over the weekend and talk to folks.

Any way you shake it, good luck and welcome to Siege!

One of the best parts of Siege is starting over. You will understand what I mean as you work your way forward. It has probably been so long since you had to "earn" what you desire in Ultima. Function vs. want will give you a new sense of appreciation. The skills, gold, resources, ect...........that you earn, as you scrape and claw for as you play, can only measured by a sense of effort long since forgotten. This applies for a seasoned vet or a player returning after many years.

A few simple words of advise:
1) Play the template you are most comfortable with or enjoy the most.
2) Use general chat so the community can become familiar with who you are.
3) Stick around, train and become be active.
4) If you need help, don't be afraid to ask.
5) While you are here, do not take yourself or what happens in this game to seriously.............it is after all, JUST a game.
6) Most importantly, have fun and just enjoy yourself.

Welcome to Siege!

I dont post much usually just a lurker around here. But as a player recently returning to the game on seige figured id put my 2cents in. For me this shard is the only shard that the game is still fun for me. The economy is not ridiculously inflated and gear that would be worthless on other shards is actually useful here due to the fact that you can lose it all at anytime. Every player you come across in a dugeon or anywhere is exciting because you dont know what they are going to do. Most just say hello and continue on their way and some you can have a good chat with and become friends which is good to have on a server that only allows one character per account. Even most of the PKs are helpful in the general chat and its not full of the constant chat spamming and trash talking like on atlantic. Anyway sorry for the long post. Ive been enjoying my time back there so far just thought i’d share.

I would recommend you use EJ accounts as your crafters/resource gatherers. Most crafting skills do not require a house as you can work straight from a bank. Use your paid account as a tamer, mage, or whatever you enjoy playing so you can go on guild hunts/EM events.

Welcome to Siege :) Some great advice in this thread, so I will keep my comment limited mostly to EJ info.

As has been mentioned, EJ is nice for making alts to assist your main character. And of course, Broadsword is happy to sell you Soul Stones to make your main character more versatile.

EJ crafters are great for keeping yourself supplied with and repairing your own gear and perhaps a few to sell - but beyond that, they are the most limited template in the EJ program. They cannot use com deeds, stacks of materials cannot exceed what they can actually hold before banking it (and will not combine with a stack already in the bank), they cannot mount a beetle that is storing items, and they cannot access supplies in a house. They can only get 1 BOD per day, cannot bribe any of them, and cannot use BOD books. All of that is perfectly fine if you only use your crafter to meet your basic needs (after all, EJ is just a trial size sample of UO). In your case I would suggest using your primary account for your crafter, since that is the playstyle you prefer the most. Invest in a few Soul Stones eventually, and the same character can then be used for higher end content. Your main account prolly also has High Seas and other upgrades already. On the note of fishing - do not leave your ship at sea on Siege Perilous.

On the other hand, EJ have almost no limits on skills, equipment, quests and dungeons, etc. They do not get Power Scroll drops or EM drops, but just about everything else is fair game. (Make sure your paid account is the one that throws things in the trash, for example, as EJ can earn but NOT redeem cleanup points.) At some point tho, you will be wanting a PvMer so you can get materials such as barbed leather for your crafter.

Your one character can have a house on Siege and your home shard at the same time. Recall, sacred journey, and the travel function on Vendor Search maps do not work on Siege, so put some thought into the location of that house if you decide to set up a shop. Keep in mind that Siege is full of fairly self-sufficient souls so your wares may not sell as swiftly as other shards. Imbued suits are always in demand, though. Specially this time of year!

Most importantly - just have fun!

if you are going to do only one character, i would suggest Imbue, Mysticsm, Magery, Med, Tailor Blacksmith, Armslore . do 120 on myst/Imbue then do 80 mage for gating/faster heals. or you can drop the 80 mage and do 80 in carpentry. then again you could stop myst at 100 and do 100 carp. those are variations i have done and the crafting skills can swap around. you can also of course get a bunch of soulstones and go full 120/100 in everything and swap out skills as needed. but the myst mage will let you gather about anything you need.

I play the same style you do, and i have one Word: SOULSTONES. Get them , its Worth every penny.

Doing bods will bring Money, and Resources are Always easy Money to start out - Several stalls in new Magincia who buy Resources of all kinds :)

Welcome!

Hi Merth, I always advise crafters to have magery, not just to get around but casting a couple earth eles or an ev will help you a lot when gathering your resources, and save the life of a crafter more times than not when you come across a dark wisp or other nasties when out and about. As earth eles tend to stay a while (and obey you like a pet would) your mana will be back before they vanish, so you can have them with you to kill stuff and you gather the resources you need.

Welcome to Siege, hope you stay with us.

Thanks for all the replies! Giving this some serious thought and im sure I will pick up a mythic token and a few soulstones. I just finished gm’ing ljacking, mining and fishing on Europa for the third or fourth time so definitely not looking to start from 0.

Even tho I have most skills at 110-120 on home shard the two characters I play most are my tamer/mage/bard and my crafter/gatherer so thats probably the direction I will go.

And yes I have all the expansions but missing a couple paks.
