You can mark a rune on the house, So you will be able to recall right to it.

I am curious though, If you need to have done the Abyss quest to be able to use the rune.

You know for someone with the name "Lady Tiger" you're a bit of a ***** cat... Not that there's anything wrong with that...

And to be perfectly honest, The Abyss might be a bit of a complicated place to have a house for my crafter as well. :)

I DONT want an Abyss Plot. Random exploration.

Just curious about who could care less about an Abyss plot. I think its great for those that want one. But I am getting more put off by these automaton quest path UO is taking.

Don't get me wrong its fun here and there. But it shouldnt be th crux of the game.

Im asking the DEVS and have posted in the DEV room...

Why not create a dynamic random exploration land. Random monsters. Random rewards. (?)

Take T2A and let the random generators go if creating land is out of the question.

When will you create something for the explorer that wants to walk in one direction and find an adventure that isn't the same static event?

Walk shore lines find washed up treasure. A random sea dragon. An orc war cart. An open crevice to a small dungeon. A strange light thats a gate to who knows where. Random items on a NPC. An abandon house that can be looted. An ambush. Strange happens in dungeons. JUST NOT STATIC or AUTOMATON QUESTS.

So who could care less about the Abyss housing?

I wouldn't want a house in there.....there WILL be morons puling spawn upto your condo, just watch.

The second half of your post is a darn good idea though, ....imagine, walking the shoreline, and coming across a recently wrecked npc ship loaded with loot and bodies to root through........you know what??

It takes imagination, and the ability to really want to, in order for this to happen.

Either that, or we can start a poll and assume it's already in the works!!!!

Hmm, that sounds pretty cool. Running to despice and a herd of greater dragons come down the pass lol. randomness is sometimes fun.

Raven, how much time have you wasted yet on the gypsy camp spawns?? Every time I get started looking for those and picking the locks on the chests, I think of your randomly generated spawn idea that you've posted before.

In theory your idea and something like the gypsy camp "rare items" might sound exciting, but in practice, I think you find that people give up on them very quickly because there just isn't enough spawn or things don't respawn quickly enough and/or the rewards don't justify the amount of time spent. Doing the gypsy camp chests, it seems like 85% of your time is spent running or recalling around hoping to find a camp before it disappears. Unless you're actually training lockpicking skill or really enjoy running pell-mell through the trees, it's not an activity I think the majority of folks will continue for long, unless the very rare reward turns out to be absolutely stupendous new pixel crack and/or checks for 25 million in gold.

See the problem is the gypsy things as they have it is like a quest. You find it. You pick it. Sadly you get nothing.

If you truly add in randomness you would find other things on the way to search for the Gypsy camp. It cant just be 1 or 2 things. It has to be well planned.

And it would be risky to the miner. (from above)

Who has time to play with the gypsies?

I'm wondering...

On the plots I think I have this figured but.... say on Character A account A I did the quest 3 days... once to get the lamp then I did part 2 3 times.

On character B account B I did the quest everyday, but only did the lamp quest once.

On Character C... account C I did the quest everyday and did the quest for the lamp twice.....

On Character D account D I did the quest everyday but only did the lamp quest once....

So then each day at server up do I get only 4 chances? Do I get 5 chances? Or does each of my characters get a chance for each node they placed each day.... so like for character B that character would have say.... 6 chances each day to be the winner...???? Or does each of the characters have one chance per day....

and what about characters who never did the quest at all? Are they in the lotto?

Say I have 4 accounts with 6 characters each.... and only did the quest on 5 characters.... total.....

So like do all 24 characters get put into the "lotto"? Or only the 5 that actually did the quest??

When people let the game evolve pass 1998 and 2D.

Even this isn't exactly random to me. Sure the place where they spawn is "random" or... there are just so many places that it just seems random.

But the camp is probably similar to all the other camps, and the event isn't any different. You're there to pick locks.

The only way for a game to have completely random events is for actual people to spawn said events. The game engine can't handle completely random.

I'm 95% sure that none of this has anything to do with a client.

It does have to do with the AI and clients coding, regardless of if you want to admit it.

I wasn't trying to be negative to the 2D client, exactly... I was just stating something. And to my knowledge there is no game out to date that has the ability to create truely random encounters.

...AI has nothing to do with client.

That's server.

Random encounters would be part of UOs gaming engine. Nothing to do with the client, the client just displays the game world, as well as alowing you to input commands.

Here's a question: If you get the Abyss house plot, can you use a house teleporter in there? What's the policy on taming and releasing unicorns inside an Abyss house to act as guardians? :D

You get a chance to win everytime a character completes part 3, thats the part that matters, you didnt have to do part 2 with any character, only part 1 to get the lamp, and part 3 to dump ink on the lamp to see if you win. So if you only do it with 1 character on each of your 4 accounts, thats 4 chances to win, so long as you do part 3 with each. If you do part 3 daily with 4 characters you get 4 chances everyday. ;) :D

I know that much...

What I WAS asking is..... how does the choosing work?

Each day I'm told the "PLOT" is given away... someone is named to the plot... its a matter of IF they go there and use the ink on it.... at least that is how I understand it...

So my question was...

Do only the people who did quest #1 get "chosen" for that plot or is it every single character on the shard randomly chosen?

And if that's the case.... those who did the quest daily.... does their name go in once for each time they completed the quest??? Or is everyone equally unlucky? From the way I was reading it before everyone who did quest 2 got another chance to win the house...

So I'm then wondering would it up my odds if I took every single character I have that has access to the abyss and sent them down there with a lamp every day???

Or is it based on who got lamps in the first place?

Yes yes, I should have said programming instead of client.

Regardless, its probably still impossible to have a purely random AI system.

Anybody with an Imbuer would want the Garg House - the Rat Cavern supplies 90% of the major ingreds needed and the Demons next door supply the sought after Essence of Achievement (FC ingred).

If I don't win myself, I hope I get friended by the house winner:)

Good Luck - to all you non-Legends shard contestants :)

You can only do the 3rd part with someone that has their own lamp, you cant share lamps, and you get 1 chance per character per day if you do it. If you didn't do the quest for the lamp then you are not entered, if you dont do part 3, you cant win. So if you really want to win, do part 1 with every character, and then do part 3 everyday to see if you win.
