to defend Luna from these attacks? I have never liked Luna, and I see little need to defend it from the monsters that are attacking, even if I have couple vendors in a house there. [Only way I can get my goods to people that shop only Luna is to have a vendor there]

Now what is in it for me to defend Luna? During the ToT III we had a reason to go after the spawning beast of Tokuno as well as the Shadowlords, treasures! Same for when we fought in Magincia, treasures! Now what are we getting when we fight in Luna, besides some death robes and a little gold that we have to share with others that helped to kill the spawn off? Nothing I can see?? Has anyone got anything off anything there besides leather and scales?

If I remember right, the shadowlords on Tokuno were looking for an artifact. Since, I guess they did not find it there, wouldn't Luna, the traders city be a logical place to look for it?

It a huge stretch I know but its all I got. I do however fell kinda the same as you. Let them have Luna lol.

Someone should tell the Shadowlords that if they do find the artifact in Luna it is probably a dupe and way over priced....just kidding (exept about the way over priced).

I just want to see the dead bank sitters. The town should be devoid of guards. Some people say that they want to see WBB revived. Well, here is your chance! I just want to see the dead trammies.

But seeing dead trammies in town is like the vacation of the year. you get all giddy and just enjoy the wonderful scenic views. something like a Total Eclipse. You don't see it often but if you have the chance, you really should look at it. HEHEHEH.

And i absolutely agree on the burning of Fel. Just level the bank! and please take away the guard zone. its rather stupid to have the monster spawn, then see people spamming "GUARDS!" all the time to take care of them.

And please let the reds into Luna!!

Which of the 8 Virtues states to just let a town be run over instead of rescuing the innocent victims who can't leave Luna "just like that"? (like that nice blacksmith, or the mages...!)

Sorry, just found that amusing. ^^

Well, if you defend the virtues you pretty much have to defend Luna whether you like it or not. It's not a selective defense, you know, that's Chaos.

In any case, no, there hasn't been a specific fiction reason for Luna to be attacked as near as I can tell. I do kind of get annoyed at seemingly random attacks myself, but since I don't go to Luna normally I wouldn't have even known. Or cared.

Can we have a community box for destroying Luna? I'd gladly throw lots of stuff in it so the Crimson's can turn it into mush.

well a madman set them loose on luna.... does a madman need a reason other than madness? :p from a warfare standpoint id say they wish to attack the most travelled and least defended city, the shadowlords know that so many of us despise luna so they figured there would be little resistance.

There should be some kind of incentive to fight the invasion. Not an item of course.

Example would be fight it harder and defeat the invasion to a certain amount of kills and the invasion stops. Don't fight it sufficiently and the city itself is destroyed. (not the player houses of course but the actual city)

Well the tamer in my signature would agree that it is important to defend the city from this madness, but he is not the one that is fighting and dieing in Luna currently. No, its my bloody archer/bard, being that he has a little stand off distant, I tried the tamer in the first attack and died like 6 times from area attacks that killed like 10 or 12 of us all at once. After that the Virtues went out the window and I went and got my archer, now he does a lot better, but we still lack the motivation as to why are we doing this? Where the reward besides a pat on the back and a "job well done soldier"?

Main reason because it is the right thing to do. Honour dictates you fight any incursions. Suggesting Luna is a cancer and should be removed, that is so out there it is amazing. Luna exist because people want it to exist, they set up their vendor houses and craft houses because they wanted someplace safer to do that work and sell their goods. They have that right. Just as anyone who does not like Luna has the right not to shop elsewhere or to bank sit at WBB. I will be fighting in Luna and dying, just like I have at every invasion in other parts of Sossaria. Why because it is the right thing to do. Do I like bank sitters NO especially when most are afk. But will I fight to protect them YES.

Honor would dictate "Saving" Luna from invasion... IF Luna were a crown city and part of Britannia... but it is not. Its a foreign land. I suppose if the Mayor of Luna asked for help...

That said I still MUST Defend Luna because the shadowlords have attacked it... and I MUST destroy them as they are the embodiment of chaos and evil... and I would not be any sort of Knight of Valor and Virtue if I did not go out of my way to destroy them.

Yes even if that means traveling to Luna the dung heap of all of Sossaria... where you may find all manner of scum and villainy, cheaters, dupers and scammers...

[Now... speaking more OOC... the LAG alone of Luna on a normal day is horrendous.... LAG in Luna with this event is just downright insane... I can hardly move. Which would make me much prefer they do this somewhere much quieter with a whole lot less LAG]

Noticed that too yesterday and wondered what the lag might be like with the next invasion wave... because honestly, I'm all for defending Luna (just because I love killing as well as walking around, freed of my body... *coughs* ^^), but I don't really see myself doing a lot then.... Except maybe make myself look like an idiot (again..) and get called "noob" because others don't understand that my characters don't know what RL stuff is IG (especially when the EM is telling her story IC), because it simply doesn't exist in Sosaria... :wall:

I have 2 rp characters and each of them would answer that in very different ways.

Mr. Goody two shoes (not his real name) would say; "We must stand against the forces of evil and the guiding hand of chaos at every chance. For if we do not then we will give it a foot hold that we may not be able to retake with losing many innocent lives."

Mr. Dark and Shady (not real name) would say; "Let the damned town burn. The more fouls that throw there lives away now, will just make it easier for us when the time comes for the real battle. Go you slaves to the Virtues and dance, for our masters pull your strings. Strings of discord are easiest to wrap around those blind to things that are free of your self-inflicted wounds that you call Virtue. Chaos is the true nature of all things and the time will come when your coward of a king and his little lies will all be undone."

But I say, "It is just something to keep us busy until the next part is ready to start, and maybe you should just go kill stuff like the rest of us. We ask for something new and they give it to us, but then we ask why did you give it to us. They tell us because you asked for it, then we say but we didn't get anything for it. Then we will say Why would you make anything and not have it give you some super once in a life time item. Its not even worth it if you don't give us everything just for showing up. Which makes them think WHAT?!?!? You never said not to bother with it if we all cannot get super leet stuff. If we knew this was going to be like this every damn time then we would just.....
Screw it next opening on any other game around here and I am so out of here. Let the next guy deal with this crap." <-- yes I know sometime I rabble on, but at least there was not tangent breaks this time.

Do you think that the walls in the loading screen for SA are just slightly out of alignment with the rest of the picture or is it just not scaled to look right on a wide-screen? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

that place has been an overpriced cesspit too long ... let it burn and allow us to rebuild Magincia.

besides, the lag is horrendous. as someone remarked - many ways to die quickly.

I agree with everyone that says let Luna burn. Luna on Europa has always been a hole in the wall. There are tons of plots, houses, ect that are just sitting there, vendors that are there and empty for ever.
Would be nice to be able to destroy it the way we did Magencia. Why everyone wants to crowd up in a little room is beyond me. Making one central location for vendors yea it was a good idea in a way but in a way not. If you dont have a vendor in luna you have to work your arse off to get people to come to yours anywhere else since yours is not covered by a couple web sites that show everything on vendors there.

At least this Luna invasion is something. I applaud the devs for trying.
Saying that...

I feel the Live Events don't go deeper. For instance.. Luna is the Holy City of Paladins. Why do the many NPC paladins sit idle? Why don't the paladin players (ones with Chivalry) get some kind of boost in this city... like a boost to dispel evil, Holy light, Enemy of One (reduce the penalty) in order to repel this evil?
Give some Lore for the invasion (which should display prominently on the login screen), give some boost to Chivalry players, and add some REASON to these events.

Second example (suggestion):
If there is an Umbra Invasion.... City of Necromancers.
1)Our login screen should inform about this event.
2)NPC's should have interaction (flee for their lives, tremble at the bank, fight?)
3)Necromancer players should get some added boost (it is their native city isn't it?). Pick three lesser used spells and rev them up! Exorcism to have a chance to repel an invader, Mind Rot to do area curse, Horrific beast form to be able to cast spells.

That would be a great way to get players to participate and add much needed roleplay into the scenarios. I don't need any pixel crack to participate... but tell me at login that this is going on.. get me excited to grab the more appropriate character, and then let me get WOW'd when i get there.

Hail Folks,

Each citizen, must of course, answer to their own codes and consciences. I would not expect mercenaries to aid Luna, or any other town, unless someone paid them to so do. Nor would I expect neredowellers to act.

However, Paladins, Lords, Ladys and the nobility have obligations to Diety and Duty.

On a side note, applicable at least on Baja I add the following. Not all of Luna's residents live for gold or commerce. Not all live only for greed.

Some seek only to fill needs, and some seek only to serve our community. Charlemagne, caretaker of Baja's Community Center is one such resident. No vendors have ever or are currently located there. However, many crafting tools are there for all. Numerous Runebooks are there for all. Public areas for relaxation and meetings both large or small are available to all there.

Perhaps those who would defend Luna For NO Other Reason, would defend their own Community Center...or perhaps not.

Elladan of Baja

From an In Character standpoint, Silverwood members aren't really there to defend Luna, but are fighting the monsters to keep them away from the Moongate so the baddies won't use it to invade other towns.
