I doubt it is working as intended. Swinging it at critters for over 2 1/2 years. Heck I would have a better chance winning the powerball, being that each swing equaled a powerball ticket.

Yeah, I used my staff of pyros and don't think I've ever seen this happen.

Only thing I have insta killed is a mongbat or two. And if your lucks like mine, your "luck" will be used via them fixing it loooong before hitting the powerball.

i modded a few of mine on sonoma with imbuing other slayers, so i use one at each major champ and have yet to see any type of special effects. what i wonder is if the blades ever worked, or were even tested before being released.

As a fencer, i was very disappointed to see it did not work at all.

Not to mention it was the worst investment I ever had. I rushed out to buy it and the staff for some 10M at the very beginning of the event. HAHAHA.

No disrespect meant to the devs, since I have an idea of what they're working with, but vorpal/pyros weapons are just one in a long line of things that were announced, but never happened.
I'd imagine getting anything to work as intended at all is troublesome with the code base they have to work with, even without taking into account the ways any designed machenic would interact with existing ones.
I was always most curious about the Vorpal Blade. The "Black Hole" effect was supposed to teleport the affected mobile to a random locations, perhaps out of a predetermined set.

I gave up on waiting for them to work as intended... long enough ago that I can't remember clearly.

Isn't that what is supposed to happen when they come out with anything new? After ALL that has come and gone with UO in 12+ years you think that someone would have written it down somewhere in the training manual.

I'm in agreement.
I only meant to mention that these weapons weren't the only things that didn't happen as advertised.
There have been plenty of announced features, changes, and follow-ups to band-aid fixes that have fallen by the wayside, largely without mention.
If they'd said "further testing of the special properties on these weapons caused unforeseen consequences, and so we're unable to implement them as they were announced", then that would have been better. Just acknowledging the lack of deliverance would be cool,
