If only this was true in game - very misleading cos the person who gave it to me as pressie was led to believe by description it would really work in online game till i told her it wouldnt as was just a non working statue - wonder how many others got mislead .............

I'm confused. Isn't that what the dev's made for that fixing purpose?
Edit to add: by fixing; its not actual broken items (like the repairman does), its for items that show as half missing, or bugged.

It's like ummm. spy, if you appear to have "broken" objects (missing tile, mishaped, etc. like only 3 out of 4 tiles show up on Mystic Tree) Devs fix them when sending this.. drone or whatever.

It does work. I've set it on my lot before and come back to find it in my inventory. I just think that since they are so busy on stabilizing this game, the devs have had no time to fix the lots.

http://www.ea-land.ea.com/blog/?p=554

We’ve now searched through literally thousands of lots and characters on TC3 and EA-Land fixing what we’ve found but some lots or their roommates were online when we came by and so we had to skip over those.

Now we need the help of a little magic to fix the remaining broken items in EA-Land and TC3 … so … who better than a wizard to help out! Please welcome Cyano Acrilyc, your new team member in EA-Land! Cyano is a class 5 ploymerizator!

The TSR folks have kindly made statues of him available in their stores. If you put him out on your lot, he’ll get on his in-built telepathic telephone once you are offline and call the real repair wizard to come by as soon as possible.

We hope that the updates to TC3 and EA-Land last Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, will mean that we won’t see this kind of proliferation of broken objects again. However, we do realize that an object here and there may still break on occassion, as you may have seen in the old cities. Now you can use Cyano to have it looked after for you!

Maybe you should check out this blog information about Cyano

It was implemented to help fix the broken objects that came over in city merges.

Ahh okay standing corrected on this one - but why charging for it (it wasnt our fault things got broken why we pay to correct ?) and being mislead by being told it will ment things like showers etc instead of repairman

Yeah, I kinda have a problem charging for it as well even though I don't even know how much they are. I think that everyone should of gotten one so they could be used if needed. Is this just another way to drain money from the economy. This is the first game that I've seen that the goal is to get rid of things and spend all your money. Usually it's the other way around but hey if it stabilizes the economy then great. I'll give it about 1 month after amnesty and if things are still astronomically expensive I'll have to quit since it just won't be fun anymore.

Yeah and sad part is, I'm pretty sure the creator hiked the price by another 100 of the orginal... I don't mind being standed corrected on this one, but when first came out, I paid several times over 150, and seen I'm sure it's now costing 250!
If was decorative, can see going with flow of economy... however, this was designed to help the Dev's find your mangled items bit faster, for those merge fixes of objects.
Personally, believe that they should of given some "reward" to the creator for the orginal design of... then just given by the Dev team, like our game cards, one in each sim inventory to help us/them. But hey... I'm just one small voice among many and their family of alts LOL

Also like to mention... since we had to pay for this item, would be GREAT if at some point, the script was taken away once it is not needed any longer (or replaced exact w/o script by the Dev's) , so that we have a statue that can stay put on our lots, rather then bounce it back to our inventories

There are still lots out there with that wizard, and the reason they paid for one to start with, still sitting there in multiple pieces all over the lot... Check out Petalicious in TC3.

I do think the description is misleading. People are now buying it thinking it will fix objects for them, and that's not the case at all.

I agree, the best way to do it is if descriptions could be changed, but that isn't in the cards at this point in time.

Count me as one of the ones who thought it did what it said...I bought two. But then the other night said even though it doesn't call the repairman, it's supposed to prevent things from breaking. Not sure if that's true or not. IF it is, great...if not, I'm stuck with two useless statues I don't need.

If that's the case, my wizard is on strike. I had a few things broke on one of my lots. I left the property...went back later or the next day, I forget, and the things were still broke.

These were charged for because it was not created by EA or by the Devs.
This was created by TSR (The Sims Resource). They are just regular players, like us, that specialize in CC. They sold these pieces of CC. It was players choice to purchase them.

It served as a flag for the Devs to know that there were items on that lot that merged improperly, effecting how they displayed. It helped speed up recovery time, rather than relying on bug emails out-of-game.

[/ QUOTE ]

So why doesn't the developers pay TSR $150-$250 ebucks or whatever they cost each time someone puts one on their lot and charge $1 for it in the cataloge. Only allow them to have one. You don't need more than for it to do what it was designed to do right? When it has gone beyond it's use then remove them from the game so they don't become a rare that we all bought for $1.

If everyone got one in their inventory, everyone would set it on their property just because it looks good.
Then their search would have been a huge waste of time.

It's good that they charged a bit for them, that way those who really needed them got them (+ some who didn't know what it was).

If the statues are now useless let's put them to work. Can the dev's actually make them the repairmen that repair the common items like bookcases or chess tables when the lots are closed? We would still obviously be charged to fix the items. When nothing is broken stick him in your inventory then when something is put him on the lot.

The worst is having to wait for the repairman to come at 9am. It doesn't help when your about to open your lot, let's say noon, and you find things are in need of repair. If you don't have extra items in your inventory to replace until he comes than that means your SOL.

Just my $2.5 pesos worth!

I would want such an item as well, but I would prefer a Robotic Maid, that players with high Mech skill can make and sell.

What happens if you don't have the money to pay for the repairs? I assume that it's the same if you don't pay the repairman, some stuff poofs. I don't think I'd like that.

Then you would leave the wizard in your inventory. He wouldn't be able to do anything when in there.

Or the wizard can be 'stocked' like a fridge and it will only fix until it is reloaded again.

If people made the effort to read the big sign board with 2 big arrows pointing to it in front of where they bought the wizard from they would know that it did not fix your broken piano. Lazy user = confused user.

The price went up from 150 to 200 when EA hiked the price of CC statues.

It costs nothing to have the repairs done one you place the Wizard and EA suggested that once you are done with it you pass it or sell it on.

People love to jump to conclusions rather than ask don't they?

What a cool idea!! I can also guarantee that the robotic maid would do a whole lot more work than the NPC one! If they can make the robo cat then why not?? I say that you can make it when you get 20 in mech and 20 in creativity! new interaction like teach, lure etc.

I have had mine sitting out in my skill lot for about a month now because when you try to use the war table, one side of it crashes you to desktop everytime. So I am unable to use this object and no one has come by to fix it, so the wizard isn't working anymore? I put him right by the war table so it would be obvious what was broken.

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought of this issue yesterday. It is not our fault that the objects got broken and i dont believe it is right and ethical for someone to make a profit or have his house getting a free promotion only bcoz of a bug. It should've been sold in the EA Store in EAL and TC3 for free.

[/ QUOTE ]As I understood it, the Wizard's only purpose was to act as a beacon for the dev team (or a semi-automated script) in order to call attention to objects that are physically broken - as in, taken apart and thrown back together in bits and pieces all over the lot.

You have a bug. You would be best served emailing a detailed bug report, covering the Who, What, When, Where, and Why/How of the bug, to [email protected]
