Off topic math (geometry) question

People of pacific:

Im trying to find the area of an elliptical shaped area that is 30ft across, and 50ft vertically. Thats 1500 ft2 if it WERE a square, which it is not.
I know that if it were a CIRCLE I could use PI x R2, but.. its not..
A guess won't do here. A ballpark is okay, but were dealing with material that costs $200 per ton.. Being that each ton will cover approximately 80Ft2, I need to know, roughly, how much I need. So, in other words, @200 a ton, a serious mistake will screw this job up big time. . .
Any math majors out there wanna take a shot at this?
Ill make a free bombastic sig for the guy who gets this!

i actually did a bunch of banking today.. Like my rrsp and **** like that and the women who was trying to get me to do all this stuff i just was like " YO LADY WHAT THE $%^ ARE YOU DOING NO THIS IS A WAY BETTER PLAN DO THIS AND THIS AND THIS" and she was like oh wow you actually know what your talking about and then stfu and let me do my thing and i was like yeah yeah thats right WAl-mart wins again! then i high fived her!
