Odd ramblings and ideas

I was reading Glamdrings post, and I realize it is a cross sharded post, everyone likely got them, but it got me thinking. In the old days he was refering to, some of the blessed items were placed as a result of community. What sort of community does Origin have? Are there any "towns" left?

What builds a community. Sadly in real life one of the things that comes to mind is disaster. So what if UO had disasters? Random earthquakes that ate up houses and all their possessions? Good? Bad? eh probably bad...

OK so what if UO came up with a way to reward communities? For example, blessed items. There could be a reward tier simialr to the current rewards offered, only these would be for larger items placed around sosaria. Picture this: An open land mass that is restricted to houseing, yet is being used for nothing. A small caravan of designers, architects and of course a banker arrives with the offer to build, a park (for example). The community however has to provide all the materials, simialr to the luna invasion only this would be for pure enjoyment not to protect the city. The community has to come together as a whole and donate a seriously large amount of resources AND gold to get this park built.

What do you think?
What are some items you'd like to see built as part of a blessed community option.

Kepp in mind these are just ramblings and I don't work for EA!

Having been around when many of th ehouses on great lakes got their blessings.....it was something of a land mark.

For example....Kazola's Tavern was a bar in Yew near moongate where the RPers hung out, told tales, started RP scenarios etc. It was blessed with a stable and alot of other nice items, to make it look like a real tavern.

Red Devil's Auction house, first auction house on Great Lakes....in UO really, same deal. They started out having auctions, became popular and eventually received a very nice blessing

Temple of MOndain...Roleplay guild....very influential in events on Great Lakes recieved their blessing because of the guild itself. The temple is required to stay in the guildmaster's hands, being handed down from GM to GM. The guildstone can never leave the place.

Sadly, all the blessings are in fel. And now, when players attempt to use them, they are griefed beyond belief. And if we privatize the house, we get warned that if we do it again, the whole thing will be deleted.

The problems with Blessings is they are player owned houses. And blessing one house makes others jealous.

Well I wasn't referring to someones house getting blessed. I meant that communities would have to work togewther to have something public built...like a tavern, a park, a wedding garden, a shooting range, a you name it....what would interest the community? It would be nice to add this to the ideas forums but we need more items to give the developers the ideas!

I know of at least one player ran town left, and that would be Icelyn. We have a training center for new players, a museum, my casino/theatre, and another two undecided houses.

And I think you have some pretty good points, I hope something can come from them! (Besides earthquakes
)

I want a Roller Coaster

Your idea sounds good, I would like to see something cool on that nice chunk of land between Brit & Brit's moongate.

On Atlantic there is a stage and picnic area and I think a target range too. And amazingly it's on the tram side! Can't remember if it's on fel too

On great lakes they did something similar to the Skara Brae Farms behind the ranger huts to the north of th eroad on mainland skara brae

turned it into a festival area with a "beer garden" for lack of a better term, a stage, archery and dart throwing areas, picnic tables and fountain. was nifty.

We need to use the fairgrounds here in LUna. Soon!

So did I actually miss the Luna Festival or it never happened?
Cause when I heard about an event going to happen at the Festival Grounds,
I practiced burning around that race track like a mad man.

There is one old town on Origin I know of.. near Brit I believe in the mountain pass it's awesome. In the mean time.. Myself and some others are currently hard at work on construction of a player town. Once we finish getting all the main buildings up and decorated, we'll be making announcements for volunteers and events and such (been so much hard work)

No Kai, the festival never happened. Hoping it will get used in this round of EM events. however since the news of ea buying out that east coast company and Inu saga getting put on hold, I haven't seen Telnarn since then either.
