First off when you say "I wish to resize my house" there is no going back, it doesnt ask if your sure.
Then everything in the house falls to the ground, even if locked down. It doesnt go in to moving crate.
When you replace the house, everything that was on ground is now all stuck under the house, INCLUDING PEOPLE/PETS... everything.
They need to add in a warning message that everything in your house will fall to ground, or else people will lose a lot of stuff. I can already see it happen. Since im an idocer, I will take advantage of it.

Also, keep this in mind, when your resizing, no one can place a house within
3 tiles of your house ON THE SIDES... 5 tiles in the BACK, not sure about front prolly 5 though.
Overall I dont mind the changes, this is going to really change the realestate market, for the better I think.

Tried this out myself and the same thing happened. Placed a 15x15 plot, spoke the words to resize it and about 10 or so items I had locked down all fell with [no longer secure] message above them and I could freely loot them off the ground. I don't see this getting used at all unless its a brand new plot.

When I placed the plot my character actually got stuck underneath it and couldn't move (or use the "Leave House" option).

Also might want to remove the 1 hour demolish/7 day wait timer on TC1. I got it after testing resize once.
And to be honest, I think the gates in Britain should be in New Haven for testing since the Britain rune that you get always seems to be blocked.

Isn't this the sort of thing that should have been revealed in first pass QA?? Sure hope that isn't "working as intended".

No, its more like that is the thing that makes you question if there is indeed a QA at UO.

Why pay people to do QA, when they can just get US to do it for free?

Here's a question, I'm not awake enough yet to hop on test.

Have another person there with you when you *wish to resize*. When everything unlocks, have the other person walk onto the plot area...maybe it acts like when you're in customization mode and noone else but you can enter the area???

[/ QUOTE ]Perhaps this is 'working as intended'. Maybe the idea was that this was something that was meant to be used on an empty plot? I don't think it's overly un-reasonable to make it necessary to have the plot emptied out when you try to resize it.

Just a thought.

What I would like to know is, if I have a plot and I decide to resize it, and there is an area next to my plot that could accomodate a house, but b/c of the tile restrictions from the front of a house to the back, when my plot poofs could someone else then place in the neighboring plot provided they do not eclipse my reserved space?

Dont remove the housing storage bug!!!

*the above sentence is being said by hundreds of BOD runners*

Seriously, if people didnt realize their was a storage bug...then they havent noticed 14 year vets in tiny houses near Yew...I know one guy near Yew Fel whose house should only hold the 1500+....yet it contains 10,000+

:-/

Also noted

When I said *I wish to resize my house* it poofed and another char I brought in was able to run up and grab everything that was in it.

After I *resized* the first time it wouldn't let me, said I needed to wait 7 hours, the second try I placed no problem.

I think your not intended to resize a full plot , but rather empty your plot before hand.

The warning gump should go in thou to warn that it will unlock all your items on the floor.
Also is there an option to replace the original plot? I know there is cases where houses used to be able to be placed there a while ago but wont no longer fit ( the yew area for exsample placement there changed between the swamp and the drying out)

So an option to replace the original plot would be nice since you cant try around at all.
And it be nice to get the placing confirmation, so you can try and play with placement a bit.

I think a confirmation gump with an account-bound moving crate would be the best way to go. Resizing the house should drop it back down to a resizable (maybe draggable??) foundation instead of actually destroying the plot, you'd circumvent most of the problems that way.

Wait, is it charging you for the new plot size and not refunding you for the one you originally had?

I'm kind laughing, cause I do not understand the concept of peeps expecting stuff to go in a moving crate...which is part of a plot which is part of a house which they just DEMOLISHED

If ya destroy the house, ya destroy the moving crates too...so yeah, empty it out before you start demo'ing, of do it at off time when you can move the stuffs and place and loot your own stuff before anyone sees it.

*shrugs*
Account bound moving crates? we ahve em already, on Atlantic and Legends, we call em bank boxes.

resizing would be different (or should be) than demolishing

What they are really giving us is a more secure way to demolish our house and replace it with another in the same spot, without having to worry about interference from other players. This is how one "resizes" a house in UO. I don't necessarily have an issue with that (although I could wish for a more elegant solution, with a temporary moving pod or something
)...what is essential though, is that players are clearly informed within the game what this option is going to do, in advance of choosing it...and I don't think most of us want to be entombed under our house when we remodel it either.

If I go to add a room onto my kitchen, does my entire house fall to the ground and dump my stuff everywhere while I'm building it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

you're not building a room onto your kitchen, you are basically bulldozing the whole thing down to rebuild a larger house on the same spot...

DVI. This too is my concern. The area 5 tiles to the north and south and 3 tiles to the east and west is supposedly a “protected zone”? Perhaps I do not understand the placing rules, but I'm not sure this zone would sufficiently protect the original plot owner if they were to demolish their plot. Could someone could place a 7x7 plot, effectively avoiding the "protected zone", but at the same time blocking you from replacing your house? If so, this situation would occur anywhere wide-open space isn't available for placing.

Could someone please confirm that I may place a plot on the Test Center without condeming my home shard's house? I'd like to test these new changes for myself, but not at the expense of loosing my house.

The fix is simple, then. Re-do the command to be, "I wish to bulldoze my house", add a confirmation gump.

Maybe we can rent PODS for 100k a day or something as a temporary place to keep stuff?

Loquacious, you may safely place a house on Test Center, without affecting your "real" housing status on a regular shard in any way.

Umm what am I doing wrong here? I get a message that states "I must be at least 15 days old to place a house." I am on TC1.

Ok about 30 min later...I am now able to place. Wierd. I am using KR.
