Ahh, It was Indeed fun to here the old music once again. I believe that if you like this music you will like Loreena Mckenitt.

I was disappointed when I came back and the "old" music had been ripped out by the roots.

In many cases all they needed to do was do a little bit of clean-up, re-master those midis on good soundfonts, and import that into a modern audio format. The people they used to make the original music (was it not these people? http://www.fatman.com/ ) are talented and imo did an absolutely wonderful job at representing what was intended as the world of UO through music.

An exception is the music the old UO used for "war mode", I've always hated that. The new "war mode" music is better. The rest, however, made me wish for the old music back.

That brings back fond memories. But it's not the memories, that music really is special.
Raph Koster (Designer Dragon, lead programmer of the early UO) had a topic on his blog not too long ago about "loud". This strikes me as the case here. The soft and subtle melodies that these represent do something for me. And I like it much more than the heavy arousal of "loud" music.

I am just glad there are still a few people left that feel the same way I do about old school UO. There are fewer of us out there all the time...

I remember all my old school Ultima music still haha.

I got stuck on the Ultima series growing up, I think I've played EVERY Ultima game created that made it to the US :p

I still own many of them lol.

Yes fond memories, and some not so fond as well.
The good new game and experiances, hmm whats this blue glowing thing do outside Trisnic. Wow recall neat trick for a game to get around with. Pkers was fun doing dungeon crawls and hunting them with our guild and having bounties on thier heads. Trying to make enough gold to buy a house hmm tents were like 17k small houses like I think 25k give or take a few thousand.
Great interaction between players especially role playing and active guilds. Alot more positive things but those were some.

Negative things backups took a couple hours, the game would crash alot especially during the first year or two. If you went on a house steps with alot of lock downs and had dial up you crashed alot. Lagg at times made the game unplayable especially in certain areas where thier was a decent number of player doing some guild activites or some areas of the game where the game would just lock up.

Overall was it seemed alot more player active then as compared to now, but that could be partly due to the land mass being so much larger now. I have always hoped for a pre gen shard with no transfer of items from other shards allowed. The siege shard is somewhat similar but still is not the same as the game was played way back when. I would still play my current shard but this would be a nice change of pace.
