Over the years, newcomers to Siege have been welcomed with open arms and generosity. While this is still true, I would formally like to continue the tradition of a 'safe' (ish) guild for the shard's youth.
Those who carried this torch in the past devoted a great deal of time and energy to the effort. I respect that, and I am grateful for all their hard work. Today, however, this is not needed as much. I will offer basic supplies and equipment so that they won't be afraid to get out there and play for fear of losing their gear, but I do not intend to give them an endless supply. Nor tools, nor many resources. I intend to promote self-sufficiency, and to create a pool of players that they can hunt, gather, and quest with without announcing their location in General Chat. Additionally, I will provide a secure place to train skills until they can get their own home. Any scripters I catch will be expelled from NOOB.
I think the standard 30 day membership was an excellent system, and I intend to resume it. This includes displaying the guild tag and membership-dated subtitle at ALL times rule, as well as never starting a PvP fight or interfering with one in progress for the duration of their NOOB status. A NOOB may defend themselves from attack, but must otherwise remain neutral until they graduate. Also, as before, any NOOB at an IDOC is fair game.
Of course, ANY player is fair game at any time but I'd like to ask the general population of Siege to go easy on any newblets bearing the NOOB tag. If not, well, no worries - this is Siege. As the guild leader, I am exempt from this consideration, and will frequently leave my guild tag off so as to avoid confusion. Murder me without qualm!
I helped with this task for a while, so I think I have a handle on what it entails. My memory is not what it once was, however, so it's very possible I have forgotten some details. Advice and opinions are welcome.
