NON-PVP thread idea for consideration

I would like to hear from all side, Pvp and Non-Pvp on how they would feel about a NON-pvp thread that would be stickied. This thread would:

1. hold posts made by users who will NOT discuss Pvp, trash talking, or the like
2. be used for general discussion that is not Pvp/faction related
3. give the Non-Pvp population a way to communicate

This thread will not need to announce shard events, news or guild events. That may go on the Pacific Forum.

After moderating for a while, it is clear that there is a strong Pvp population here. And you have said, emphatically, that a single Pvp thread will not accommodate the amount of posts we have here.

So since we are not able to have separate forums for Pvp and Non-Pvp, this is the other option i thought of. Please discuss and post you views. I'm very curious to hear and keep to the OP guys, i mean seriously. Thanks. - Mutau

* i'll keep this up for about a month to see the responses and then make a call.

I like seperate threads. Not a dedicated non pvp thread.

I bet Velandras house... unless there is a MOD that is watching over it 24/7... this won't last a week. But, I may be wrong.

And strong pvp population? It's like the same 5-6 of us... Give PVP just one seperate thread, and leave the rest to non pvp... this game is not based on pvp, though a lot think it is.

Telsa, look at what most of the posts deal with: PvP. That kind of says stong vocal PvP population.

As for separate or segregated single posting, I "voted" against it for PvP and I take the same stance for PvM or PvE. A single post just BEGS for having zombie topics... you know the ones that are 8 months old but get brought up again.

The biggest problem I've seen lately is the amount of people who troll threads and side track them. For example, if I started a thread on the color purple, there will inevitably be the guy who wants to talk about hamburgers posting up.

Unfortunately, our one active mod isn't a robot and on 24/7... and the other mod doesn't seem to pop his head up. No fault of theirs since RL > smacking trolls on a forum:twak:

The other "sad" thing is it appears that forum mods can only give the "bad johnny" talk and infract. What isn't clear is how many infracts or bad posts it takes to get these trolls removed. I won't point any fingers at the trolls but everyone knows who they are.

Kinda odd that most shards have a pvp sticky and we have to have a non pvp sticky. shows pack knows how to have some fun! I think it might be good to have something for RP community something like a RP sticky.

i think that it would be nice for non-pvp threads to stay non-pvp and not have some dufus interject that he killed that guy or whatever, in the middle of the thread. but i hear what the others are saying, having one thread would suck because of the endless scrolling.

yea but RP people only usually post news about RP stuff so it will get outdated and maybe someone can cut off the bottom of it keeping it not so long and updated kinda like a RP mod

Keeping a thread short isn't a difficult task. that is a good option. i'll keep that in mind. i know that i would keep this thread open for one month, but i think it needs to be kept open longer, since more people are chiming in.

diversity of CONSTRUCTIVE ideas is always welcome.

Frankly, I don't think it would matter one way or the other. Every single person I know, whether PvPr or not, avoids the Pac forum like the plague due to the fact that for the most part it's nothing more than a repeat performance of what you'd see at the Yew gate with less swearing. There's really nothing constructive for a Tram side player to see here. The only reason I even saw this thread was because I'd already read every thread on the 1st page of UHall and was bored while waiting for server up.

Considering the PvP community is vocal to each other and know each other it makes sense to see more threads about PvP issues or smack talk (which is a viable tactic) then you would see about trammie issues. PvPers are the only viable community that remains on uo where multiple guilds interact with each other on a day to day basis, that's something tram hasn't seen since 2k. Most PvPers have been in a guild with each other at one time or another.

The only way that will change if people like you would start organizing stuff maybe stuff about hunts or whatever then you will see more tram related stuff. Look at almost every (populated) shard forum most posts are PvP related. :pint::party::thumbup:

Well it is funny sometimes entertaining if nothing else.

If a non pvper would post something here then the question would get answered the same as any other form or wants to post about a rp event they would just need to bump it when it gets old if the event is still going. pac news reporters are kinda slow on news so nothing ever gets out. pac needs a good news reporter

I can see how having old news might be tedious to read with the scrolling, my carpal isn't getting better. To me, imo, seeing a post that died a month+, get revived again, is redundant, stupid and not worth the effort to read.

In defense of the reporters, we only have one of two. The latter kinda went afk/MIA. Only Lyconis is around. So i'm not sure if he's THE reporter now.

As for reporting topics, that is up to him. He does do a good job on event reporting. Granted that RL does take precedence (or should, imo). Having great ideas to report on, is not something anyone can come up with on the fly. If you have ideas, PM him, and work with him.

I have noticed, and am curious to see how this all ties together. I'm not discounting any post yet, unless its one to side track it with trolls or something else un-constructive to the discussion.
