If they are still targeting a "Summer 2009" release date, they'll have to open it up faster than that. I'd expect rounds to go out weekly, but I'll admit that is a big assumption on my part.

A "Summer" release can go as far back as August 30. I think they have even called parts of September as "Summer". So they still have 3 months to reach their goal.

Summer in the Inca Calendar... the Summer Solestice is in December.

You guys forgot that is the Calendar used by EA.

Officially, 'parts of September' are still summer.

Yeah but when was the last time they released something on time? Could be a fall/winter release.

I would rather have a fall/winter release and everything (or at least the majority of things) work as intended, rather then having something rushed out with the promise that the problems will be fixed and then have major patches every week along with the occasional revert. I think people will start having problems if they announce the release date as Sept 5, then Nov 18, then Feb 19, and finally they just stop giving updates.

Not sure when the next round of beta invites will go out. Not sure if they invite new people when they have new content/areas or if they are testing to see how the system handles x number of people and gradually increase that number. For all I know, the people in the first round might have been choosen because they had similar computer systems.

When has there ever been a release of an expansion/publish in UO that wasn't full of bugs? <_<

Depending where you live in the Northern Hemisphere, summer officially ends either on September 22nd or 23rd (varies by regions & time zones). There are places in the world where it is winter now.

Summer/Winter are over at the equinox. Doesn't matter what hemisphere your in, the equinox is the defining day that the season changes from Summer to Fall, or Winter to Spring. usually around the 22nd of September. But do remember that the calendar is off by as much as 3/4 of a day, 3/4 of the time (it self repairs with the leap year).
This message was brought to you by the ancient druids. Building extravagant calendars and sacrificing peasants to the peat bogs since 4500 B.C. :D

:):) ok, now that we have somewhat determined the length of summer,
was still wondering about next round of invites. Chrissay? Anyone?

I can answer this.

The next round of invites will go out shortly after Chrissay posts it to the herald.

Now you have to win a contest to get in. 11 years of playing is not enough.

no you don't *have* to win a contest, you can just wait for the next intake and hope you're among them.

That is my plan.

In the meantime, you still have to win the contest if you would like to make beta sooner than later.

We will be doing another round of invitations soon :)

If you need a beta tester on the lowest connection possible, I am your man! We call our dial-up connection the Dixie-Cup-Dial-Up. (like the dixie cup phones we used to make as kids). Okay, just depressed myself with that. :sad4:

I suggest:
