Bitter? hehe

Well, I guess I got hit by a lightning bolt one day and looked around.

What I saw I didn't like so I burned my pom poms.

The people in charge, much like all big corporations don't give a fig about the customer.

We hear nothing but stall techniques and lies.

Then when something is announced, like a event, we get a few monsters thrown in a town with some loot.

You can tell that with most things in this game that not much care was taken.

The rewards, although not all important, could of been more original or useful.

I would of been cool with them being deco even, if they were at least a new graphic.

Then there was the KR thingy. No support for a long time now.

So my support, much like my trust in this set of developers, is on hold till proven otherwise.

Ladies and Gentlemen of EA/Mythic, you are signing Ultima Online's Death Warrant.

I have been a UO Hermit now for 8 years, subjecting family and friends to my hours of gameplay, running six accounts that I play regularly and I have to say that this event has driven a spike though my heart. I was very disappointed by the beginning of this event, not to mention the previous events but I held on in hopes that this "Turn-in" would be either worthwhile or somehow new and inventive.

Statues? Shirts? Earrings? Look at past turn-ins and tell me if this even comes close to that. Nothing new, goodness nothing even interesting. I feel sorry for the drone above who thinks a Sherry the Mouse statue is so damned exciting. Treasures of Tokuno had useful items that we all loved. Clean up Brittania had items that are still coveted. This is nothing but a lack of imagination on the part of this Dev Team and a lack of respect for those of us who have devoted our game time exclusively to this world for these many years.

Your GMs stopped listening to us. The Counselors and Companions are gone. Factions were broken many years ago and this is your idea of a fix. The Dev team has used hybrids of spawn systems from previous Dev teams rather than come up with anything new for this current event. Berserker Deamons? Really? And for killing the largest creature we get a cursed item we cant turn in. For killing a vicious Fallen warrior we get a useless sword or shield that gets us the aforementioned garbage. For fear of unbalancing you have become stagnant and unimaginative.

Hear Us Or Die! UO IS NOT YOURS! It is OURS! Add to it! DEVELOP IT! UO may look immortal to you because of its apparent longevity but I remember it in its heyday and I can hear the death nail. The old timers who have given this community life are disheartened beyond despair. We see your passion, what we dont see is an understanding of what makes a UO Player excited. Again...SHIRTS??? EARRINGS??? MOUSE STATUES??? Am I the only one who doesnt give a RAT'S ASS about Sherry the MOUSE????

I need Items. I need Regs. I need Ingots. I need Armor. And instead of going and getting it I have been going to this stupid event every day now for weeks in hopes that this turn in would save UO for me. It HASNT! I am currently looking into selling my houses and closing up my accounts in hopes that taking a break from the game will give me perspective or perhaps line on a game that is NOT EA or Mythic related.

YOU ARE LOSING US! PAY ATTENTION!!!!!

too much for me too,
have a lot to say but no time anymore
I'm about to close 2 of my 3 account.
My money still have a value, but not for this game anymore!

I can sum up the first round of turnin in one word.... Lazy

The shirt is is ok.... if you like to play dress up or a collector.
The ear rings are really the only thing that they took to heart when players asked for it.
The Sashes rehashed old event items with 8 different colors?
The mouse.. another statue woot me
The boots +2 poison res yay why not at least let us pick +2 of whatever resist...
The Knight armor.... lazy version of of Phoenix armor with stats thrown in?
what would be the point to even bother with putting stats on armor that is um crap

The impression I get is that someone just threw the list together last minute
just to respond to the people asking for turnin information.

I don't need game breaking items.... All I ask for is at least some effort on the second round of turnin item list please

Some of you must be bipolar.
When someone dares bash UO you go crazy, and now here you are whining about how it is all ending. It does remind me of the PB situation. Change of subject now, don't worry.

P52 is almost here and it's full of.. Well.. Ahem.
Housing placement exploits? I believe that's something everyone likes BUT like the miniscule Faction changes, it's really long overdue and I doubt it sounds impressing now. All it would ever take to make UO work is small changes here and there Devs. You realised finally, but oh- too late.

To make a long story short, reading all the patch notes followed by your opinions on where EA is headed with KR- I can only assume they are polishing Ultima Online to a certain level where veterans don't complain much(driving away newbies) and then leave it at that, milking harder than ever.

SA certainly sounds like Vaporware and it's EA's fault for allowing such rumours to spread if indeed they aren't true.. And KR is following its 3D predecessor in the Recycle Bin unless they have been planning a major graphics rework which they don't want to announce.

All jokes aside I think whichever client Jeremy used for the shots the fans of the other client would start speculating. She just picked 2D out of habbit is my guess.

if SA doesnt exist, then KR should be scrapped, which means they can leave 2D alone and even bring back 3D... that [censored] would rock

1. I stopped believing in Father Christmas over 30 years ago
2. Leaving everyone in the dark like this and not saying anything even if the community is going rampant is no good idea.. Accounts are being closed every day.

Side note: I got no issue playing 2D if some interface enhancements from KR are put in... And maybe allowing for a higher resolution please! :p I think that then, they could work a bit more on the graphics.. make it more like Saphi's artwork. Remember that thread?

Couldn't agree more. I see [Young] a lot more lately but then after a week or so they're gone and if you get their ICQ or MSN, chat them up about UO.. They really do not like it in the long run.

I think what is occurring is that we are getting way to use to getting rewards. Out of the rewards we get there are several useless ones and a few that everybody wants. This time... well... we asked and we received. Problem is we just didnt like all that we received...

All though we may not all be please with it... it is something. It was our choice to horde and collect things. The first "clean - up" was because things were not decaying and was actually functional... this "clean -up" is only because players decided to collect and horde things. The Devs have also provided us with another turn in... trash barrels, town trash chests, and the shrine...

With that being said...

The shirt... cute idea, not at all practical but nice idea.

The ear rings... for me, better then drinking potions or finding a piece of armor to go with my set.

The Sashes... only reward that I a dissapointed with, it really devalues the ones that were handed out. Not to mention the players that waited around, then stood in line and hoped they didn't run out.

The Statue of Sherry... something that may be interesting if the town criers are fixed.

The Snakeskin Boots... an extra 2 resist is nice.

The Knight's Armor... basically a white phoenix armor... back in the day I remember actually how coveted it was to have a full set of this... Very rarely did you see a player with a full set... Only problem now is that our world spins around stats and this sets stats are rather low... But it still wont stop me from trying to get a set

Remember to Have Fun!!!

When the time comes, I will be turning in all the things I picked up, but not claim a dam thing. For me, nothing worth claiming. Hopefully, the "tickets" will be held over, and something interesting will be available to be claimed in "Part 2". If not, at least I got my storage space back with out having to BUY the upgrade. (which I personally think was the real point behind all this collecting stuff)

Just do like my sig says, when EAMythic tells me how great something will be, I no longer get my hopes up. I just imagine the worse, then add 10% because its EAMythic. What can we really expect when you put a competitor in charge of your product?

[/ QUOTE ]

Same can be said of ANY MMORPG. They always talk things up and fail to deliver. That is just part of the business. Ask WoW players if they were really happy with the Sunwell or if they really love the game after playing it for a year (much less 9 of them). To get any enjoyment at all out of MMORPGS you need to learn not to expect much then you can be surprised instead of disapointed.

Just because you close your account does not make you an expert on rather accounts are being closed every day or not. Some of us have tried everything out there and seen the lack of depth everything else offers.

People said this crap 8 years ago. People say this crap today. When EA/Mythic says that UO is coming to a close players will go try to find something better. So far nothing has even come close, so hopefully sometime in the future they will quit making WoW clones and start making games with actual depth.

I seriously don't know..are you guys seeing it as borked as I am??? It previewed fine in NewsPro but for some reason it's tilting to the left a bit....*tilts head* Strange...

[/ QUOTE ]

Does borked mean formatted incorrectly? Incorrectly, meaning a way that is in diversion from what is typical. Yeah.

Wow. What a extremely lame turn-in event.

These 'rewards' are really crap. I can't believe you guys actually sat down and got paid to think up these ideas. You should give us stuff to improve the gaming experience. Not a 'ingame t-shirt' that says "hang ricardo".

The Snakeskin boots are at least something decent that will make a player happy. the mouse statue.......i'm not trying to troll and pick at things, but come on, can it be any uglier?

Is effort now a victim of the RNG?

Should be ashamed of yourselves. What a joke! I'm keeping my snakeskins, rubble and whatever else. It beats that crap. Well i'll get one pair of Boots

Aherm.

I understand those of you who're complaining about the (lack of) RP behind all those turn-ins; I don't get involved a lot in events, go a few times to each of those, but hardly more, and, as a pen-and-paper DM, I would have done a cool event off of ophidian journals or orders ... The whole things seems crappy, from that point of view.

But for those who complain about the rewards: aren't you tired to complain all the time ? Even at the ToT event, we heard some unsatisfied voices ... jeez.
You guys got the Doom artifacts system rebuilt ... what ? 3 ? 4 months ago ?
I just came back from a pause, and Im not surprised seeing that Doom stuff prices have dropped a lot; you get überitude (yeah, yeah) at every street corners, and everyone and his dog got at least one doom artifact these days... what do you need more ?
Stop begging about some damn more item-based content already, there's a lot of stuff to work on ... this game already got too many of that crap, at a point where it nearly lost its soul.

As Carrot says, "Don't confuse what's personal and what's important".

It's unfair that KR users can't see the threads.

It's understandable you put the "optimized for 2D" in there because of the unresolved and all too common crash problem with KR running and more than 3 things happening on-screen at one time.

But withholding an image of a thread is laziness. Complete neglect, and then, once knowing it, laziness.

Just copy the lousy retro 2D image that you used. What was that? A sketch of a toothpick pointing in 3 directions?

Can't you do that in KR? Is that too hard in 2.5 dimensions? Draw a white line on a black background. That is a thread of life. Then draw a white line on a black background. That is a thread of fate. You see, KR users need to see the white line, on the black background to know it is there.

I had a bunch else written, but it seemed mean or bolshevik....to sum up...

For corporate, here are some KR resolution statements due to the community:

1.) "Due to player reluctance and lack of demand, the KR client can not be maintained"
2.) "Due to the inability of being able to maintain two clients simultaneously, the KR client can not be maintained."
3.) "As current subscribers, we understand your disappointment with KR and we are working hard to resolve these issues in order to make KR the client that is needed for UO to succeed"
4.) "If you use KR, do not fear. We will maintain it for as long as we can and it will always be a viable alternative to retro."
4.) "Something similar to these statements specifically regarding: a) KR, b) its priority with the 'fully staffed retro team,' c) it's short term and long term future or viability."

I can only assume KR was trashed. It cannot be part of the secret, because it was released, remember? Since it has not been maintained and is not handling new event content, it must have been trashed or is beeing allowed to decay

BOTTOM LINE.... Was KR trashed??? Or is it part of the current super big secret??? Sure, Draconi said KR hasn't been forgotten, but I "Remember The Maine!" That doesn't mean anything. There is a corporate statement due on KR regardless of its success/failure. For 8 months we were subject to a massive propaganda campaign about the virtues of KR, so now make a substantial comment on its status. Do the usual spin job that we are accustomed to, but make the comment.
