ast night's tales were at an earlier hour, attended by those who use the strange timepieces crafted by the Green Witch of Meantime, and those of Your 'O'.
A fine time was had by all, with tales, ales, and fun being shared!

I began the eve's tale telling with a rhyming tale of a sea voyage I once took...

ome time ago, a year or three,
Or maybe seven or eight,
I journeyed towards the southern sea,
Far past fair Trinsics glowing gate,

The shrine of Honor bade me farewell,
As out to sea I sailed,
But alas, Id bought a leaky boat,
And much water had to be bailed.

I set ashore at Jhelom docks,
Needing dry dock, my craft to repair,
Yet while upon those docks I stood,
Though blind, felt an icy glare.

Ahoy! Argh! Clumsy oaf! came a greeting foul,
Spluttering from a fiendish throat,
For it seemed a vampire had chosen to rest there,
And was trapped beneath my boat.

I made repairs, hammering hard,
Taking care where the hammer fell,
And yet, alas, somehow indeed,
One stake caused a most pained yell.

My boat repaired, the vampire quiet,
I set off once more across the deep,
and past South Jhelom isle I sailed,
oft times imagining a bubbling squeak.

As I neared the edge of our world,
As explorers are known to do,
Up from below the rushing waters rose,
And woe! Great force cleft my craft in two!

The leviathan rose from those darkened depths,
Feasting firmly on its mind,
But I escaped to tell this tale,
For once, to me, fate was most kind.

Leviathans love undead meat it seems,
And Id brought this one a tasty treat
For though Id thought the vampire gone,
Hed actually received a stake in the seat.

So, good people, if ye sail the seas,
This point is vital, I do feel -
that to avoid leviathan attacks,
fasten no vampires to thy keel!
</td> </tr> </table>
As fate would have it, that tale was followed by one told by a vampire!
Thankfully, it seems the one impaled in the behind was no relation to Freja, so the eve continued in peace!

hen I was young, I grow up in the forest
an old lady and her hubby took care of me
I started with learning to find resources
the old lady gave me an axe
told me to go the the forest
and cut some wood and make bows and sell

the forest could be a dangerous place
I cut and cut and atleast I started to get some woods
then a bad looking guy show up
something made me fear him
and I started to run
but I got nowhere
was to heavy
and this bad guy now started to laugh
believe it

I got home safe this day
I meet a few more of this bad looking guys
one day I was out mining
a guy came
asked me for a hammer
I gave him a hammer
but a moment later he cam back
told it was a smith hammer he needed
ok I made him one with my poor tinkering
and he now asked
if I had some ingots
I asked
how much do you nneed
94 ingots he said
that was what I had in my bag
so I guess he had looked without I saw it
I told him I needed a little for a shovel but he could get the rest
and I handed him 80 ingots

at that time
there was a forge outside the mining cave
at the land of Atlantic
so he went out and think he made something or repaired something
he now asked
how much do I own you
I told him it was a gift
he told me no he would get me some money and a moment later
he was back with a nice bag of money
sure worth more than my ingots
again I survived

Many thanks for that fine tale! Always good to hear of the early days of our fair land! And it still holds true - not every red is evil, and not every blue is good!

Now, on to a happier tale, a tale filled with romance, and passion, and very strange assassins!

<table border="1" width="100%" bgcolor="#CCFFFF"> <tr> <td> One day, as I was in Jhelom, visiting the tailor...
You know, they are so busy now, equipping all those fighters
They keep asking for more and more things for them...

Anyway, I was visiting the tailor..
And I met a young elf
He was an elf I met earlier, only the first time he had no clothes
Well, he said he had cut them all into bandages
But elves are a bit odd
I made him a small apron to cover up
Well, he wouldn't accept any more
Oh, and some boots

Well, the next time we met, he had clothes on
That was an improvement
I invited him back to the house, because he wanted a cooking pot
And laurence is very good at making those
So he came in, and he was very polite, and he left his horse outside
Laurence made him a beautiful skillet, and some other good things
And we all chatted happily for a while
Aye, elves generally don't eat enough
*nod nod*
Well, suddenlt there came a scream from outside!
*blushes*

Well, we all rushed out and there was the poor horse, dying!
There was also that Mr McBane with his bow...
And then..
He fired at Laurence!
Laurence had a nasty bolt wound in his arm!
and Mr McBane saw that there were a lot of us, and he seemed to melt away
Aye!
Laurence tried to throw the rolling pin, but his throwing arm was hurt
It was very brave!

Well, as we were wondering what to do next, and I was panicking a bit...
Mr McBane suddenly appeared again
And he said...
So you won't be wanting to buy an encylopaedia then!
Well, we were all very surprised!
Oh, maybe...
Well, that is the tale
*blushes deeply*
Aye

And he *isn't* courting me
*blushes*

Hmm. The Shire Stalker kept popping up during the telling of those tales, most notably after good lady Maude arrived... so perhaps she doth protest too much.

While on the topic of the head-damaged haggis, I found this strange book on the steps of the Golden Unicorn. I nearly went insane trying to re-scribe it for you, so I'll simply show you the paintings my picture imp took instead!

<table border="1" width="20%" align="center"> <tr> <td align="center">

</td> </tr> </table>
Hrm. Yes. Quite. Insanity prevails, it seems.

There was a lull in the tale-telling, so I re-told this sorry ode of a trainee in our lands....

<table border="1" width="100%" bgcolor="#CCFFFF"> <tr> <td> I began life as a crafter,
A crafter, a crafter,
So there I was, a crafter,
Dear listener, a maker of all.

Now a crafter needs supplies,
Dear listeners, oh listeners,
Ore, wool and leather,
Or he cant make anything at all.

So I went out a gathering,
A gathering, aye gathering,
I spent days a gathering
Oh what a bore!

But now I could make goods,
From leather, and fine iron!
I made goods from wood,
And my wares lined the walls!

So I went out to sell them,
Good listener, dear listeners,
I went towards the market,
And to a killer did fall!

My pack was now empty,
No guards came to my aid,
For I forgot to call them,
And my killer took all!

Sadly I went back to gathering,
More gathering, how boring,
More ore, wool and hides,
To make more than before!

But while I was a gathering,
And yawning, A voice did call
This one dies too easily,
And down I did fall.

That added insult to injury,
Dear listener, oh listener,
This time he didnt even wait
Until my goods were formed!

Revenge I did swear then,
Against my killer, vile killer,
I started training as a warrior,
A crafter no more!

So there I was a training,
Training, more training,
There I was ever a-training,
Ever swinging my sword

Finally - out to seek battle,
Battle, glorious battle
I would make him pay,
That crafter-killing boor!

But my killer had guildmates,
A mage, a ninja, a tamer or two,
So soon I lay there dead again,
Again they took my all!!!

So I went and studied magic,
Chivalry, musical skills a-plenty,
And bushido too. Ninjitsu and necro,
In hope to win a brawl

But after months spent a-training
and training, ever training,
Ive more death robes than gold,
I'm always first to fall!

So I think Ill be a crafter,
Dear listeners, oh listeners,
But I sold my resources for weapons...
I cant make anything at all!

And finally, we have another fine tale of the early days of Siege, from Freja!

<table width="100%" border="1" align="center"> <tr> <td>
hen we all came to this new land
we somehow forgot all our skills
I started together with my sister Tina Tink
this is her story

Tina Tink wanted to learn the skills of blacksmith and mining again
there was alot and I say alot
who wanted that too
so finding a mining spot inside town zone was very hard
now Tina was not that scared
so she went to the cave north of Brit
it was one od the first days, maybe the first day
yet we had not seen anyone evil

There was around 30 miners in the cave
there was a forge in the cave, not sure how it got there and gm's moved it later
all was fighting about the spots
puffing to each others
then 2 boys and 2 girls came
young as us
but fearless
they started to demand ingots
most was running screaming to Brit, even when we was 30-40

Tina wanted her skills and also for tinkering
so she faced the now red lady
asked
can I make the ingots to shovels first
the lady, named something with Cola
allowed her it

later Tina Tink died to a troll that came in
and the others, the miners looted her
grrr
Tina was use to bad guys
so she went to the red lady again
asked
can I borrow one of the shovels?
and she got one and she was ready to go on
her tingertools was still in her bag
now Tina's skill got better and she had a large pile of ore
and was moving it step by step

now miners are not always honest
and they tryed to steal Tina's ore
this red lady and her evil friends now jumped in and protected Tina
this story do tell
it do matter alot how you act to others
the red lady stayed red for years
she was the first red on Siege

Another fine tale of the early days! Thank you, Freja!

Then, 'twas time for the vote!
It was a near thing, but I am glad to say that Maude took the gold home. After all, she will probably need all the gold she can get for her forthcoming wedding to Sitric!

Now, should any wish to hear the tales that I believe were told later that night - I will need the journal of one of the attendees! *grins* </td> </tr> </table>

Was a great evning and first time I visited the story nights. Thanks to Hoff for inviting us in EU time and thanks to Otto for rewriting the tales. It was hard to decide who was the best story teller, Maude or Otto, both was amazing.
I'm sure it won't be last time I will visite the Shire for a story night.

I do have a corrections to the titles for my first story, it was the early days of Atlantic. It's my fail, I forgot to make titles, still a noob when it comes to tell stories. Thanks for making me two fine titles Otto.

Thanks for the report Otto. Was a good evening of stories and chat. More of a tavern night than just storytelling. Maude's tale was particularly good as it was so informal - more of a group discussion. I hope being married to Sitric is not going to change her.

Blind Otto, you said:
"A fine time was had by all, with tales, ales, and fun being shared!"

Well, you didn't remember to say about fine cookies I made... *sulks cheflly*
If one is reporter, one should report properly. Otherwise, it was pleasant time!
