January 30, 2010, the residents of Origin gathered at the Origin Awards house for the Amazing Race - Origin Style put on by EM Faine Morgan and EM Molly O'Malley.
The rules were basic and straight forward: This was a timed puzzle/race/scavenger hunt with checkpoints scattered throughout the lands. It would be up to the entrants to find all checkpoints working either individually or as teams. We were then taken outside and introduced to Sherman, the first checkpoint NPC.
To start us off, we were told to say 'clue please' to Sherman, who would reply with an item he wanted, once he was given the item, he would give a clue so we might fight the next checkpoint and NPC. As proof that we had found all the checkpoints, we were required to record the name, location, and item requested by each NPC into a book, and when there were seven recorded, return that book to the EMs at the West Britain Counselor Hall as fast as possible, OR to be the first to return with the MOST information recorded in 90 minutes.
Once the explanations were over, the legendary Origin line was formed and we waited to received books from EM Faine Morgan and EM Molly O'Malley.
When given the apple he requested, Sherman gave the clue, 'You could play checkers or chess here, but may get sand in your shoes.'
When located, each NPC asked for a specific item, and gave a clue to the location of the next NPC.
Team TAO was the first to return with the book documenting NPC names, locations, and items requested by each. The Mystical City group came in second, and third place was a tie -- books were simultaneously handed to EM Faine Morgan and EM Molly O'Malley by Team KKK and Team XMG. Trophies will be placed at the Origin Awards house.
EM Faine Morgan and EM Molly O'Malley then took the group to Luna Bank and let us help with the inscriptions on valentine lanterns which they used to make a lantern heart on the bank floor.
