<span style="font-weight: bold;"></span> <div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"> Last evening the heralds announced that Clainin beckoned for the citizens of Siege to assemble in Serpents Hold Hall. Without delay, I made my way there to see what this matter was, that required our immediate attention.

When I arrived, I heard conversations of those that were already present. They were curious and somewhat confused as to why we were called to assemble. As I walked around the room I scanned the crowd and saw a lot of familiar faces, amoung them were: Jalabaster, Trajan, WyRm, Raven Tremere, Lord Troll T-Hunter, The Gerbiler, Gandolf, Dr. Phil, Delilah Jones, Forsaken, Wayland, Queen Mabe, Loki, Platinum Dragon, Vitamin D, Ru'ura'pente, Grim Love, Aeric Horn, Odom, Verum, Crystal Moon, Shakamura, Lord Liquid Poison, Mrs. Garlin Green, Alkhar &amp; Zebula.

There were many gathered in the Hall but my attention turned to Clainin who appeared on the stage and thanked us for making our way to Serpents Hold. <span style="font-style: italic;">"It is good to see that some of ye remembered where it was and came on such short notice." </span>he said. Just then Ru'ura'pente spoke up and said he had been waiting for Anissa for a very long time now. Clainin went on to explain that Anissa had been sent off on a mission of great importance and the Council is unsure of when she shall return, for there are dangers ahead that she must face. As he spoke, we began to take notice of the woman standing at his side. She had poked him several times with her bow and gave him an odd glance. Clainin gestured to her and continued talking.

<span style="font-style: italic;">"With Anissa taking on the challenges set forth by the Council, we have also had to look long and heard at finding someone to lead the Royal Guard. And after some deliberation, we have decided upon promotion Sammi Hushenhoy to assume the position as the Commander of the Royal Guards."</span> he motioned to the woman next to him. This woman was Sammi Hushenhoy.

Sammi stepped forward to address the crowd <span style="font-style: italic;">"Aye, for the time being, ye'll have to deal with me." </span>It was quite noticeable that the Citizens were becoming restless, unsure of this new Commander. But she continued speaking to us <span style="font-style: italic;">"The matters of the Commander who is away will not concern us for now, unless situations deem otherwise, then we will become involved. That I promise. But we have much work ahead in the coming days. We will need to assess our strengths and prepare. There are
forces moving across our realm as we speak. Serpents Hold has always been the home of courage. I expect to see it here." </span>Sammi looked out across the crowd at all the brave Citizens who stood ready to defend thier lands. <span style="font-style: italic;">"I look forward to testing this guard at my side on the battlefield. For tonight though, the guard already has the Ophidians to deal with and without action it may continue to grow." </span>With that, she prepared to leave. As Sammi departed she saluted and said <span style="font-style: italic;">"See you on the battlefield friends."</span>

We do not know what lies ahead for us. We do not know how well our new Commander shall lead us into battle. But one thing is certain.... we must fight off the Ophidians. They are a bigger threat to our lands and to our way of life, than we realize.<span style="font-style: italic;"></span><span style="font-style: italic;">

Welcome Sammi!

It is nice to finally see your position filled in this land again.

You might think about re-issuing Royal Guard sashes... as I am afraid Revvo
has all of ours now.

Good luck to you!

I guess no one else was as thoroughly annoyed as I was to be summoned to Serpents Hold as is done in the case of an event only to have an introduction to the new EM.

Well, at least it appears that this guard commander has the right priority in mind - fighting off the invading ophidians. Thats a step up from Anissa at least, who showed that she'd rather play with dragons and persue her own goals while the Yew Courthouse and Britain were under siege.

Yup, I'm Grot, it's the traditional name of....well, me. Since the first coming to Siege, and before.

And here I thought you were naming all your gruntees after me, so they could aspire to greatness.

Nope, no desire to be an orc slave. Living conditions are too nice, they'd make me soft.

He already did that for me... haha.

From the storynight in Sonoma a bit back:
<blockquote><hr>

So, Lugtar looked far and wide for an elvish mate.
He found a good one outside Zento, and knocked her out, and took her back to his hut,
and put her in a box with his great goblin Grabnutz.

And after more moons the elf was breeding new goblins.
But, these new goblins were very good,
so Lugtar took one of the new goblins, and kept him for his own,
and named him Daan Mor,
Son of Grabnutz

Ha! That was a good story, but, I forgot most of it, so I made up the end!

It was too bad I came a bit late for that meeting, but I guess I didn't miss much.

Since the EMs are back, it seems that events will be stepping up on the shard once again.

My pitchfork will be ready for skewering.

Cause you know, the EM's and the Game plot are controlled by the same people. The EM's give unique storyline to each shard, whereas everything you are so waaaaa about was in game plot that was put on each shard and wasnt under EM control.

I understand that just fine. I'd hoped that I wouldn't have to explain...I bash Anissa in a RP sense. Think about it that way. She was apponted the captain of British's guard and did nothing at all about the fact that Britain was under siege by monsters....

Kinda like they will do with this invasion, if they have to keep with the ingame storyline with thier own events, it really kills thier freedom and creativity. I like the stuff they do on thier own more.

I like creativity too.

It's entirely possible to be creative and make unique and interesting events that take into account the shard (world) situation, its denizens, and it's history.

Let me give you some historical references from Siege...

Back when the Renissance was published, there was a big hulabaloo and lots of (at the time seer) interaction on Siege and on other shards. Minax, Jou'nar and their minions were desecrating the world on every shard. This was the game event. The overall plotline involved Joye the librarian. The Siege Seer(s) was involved in an event where Joye the Librarian needed to travel from Brit to Empath Abbey. That Seer(s) recruited (by RP) the Shadowclan, Undead, and other evil sorts to try to stop her and kill her. The forces of good were asked to help escort her, and we did.

A huge battle ensued. We fought numerous spawn in Britain to get her to a boat, fought orcs and such on boats in the harbor, and more orcs on boats once we got near the Abbey. After she was there and safe, another related battle ensued at the Yew graveyard. All parties had free will in how they would try to get Joye to the Abbey, or stop her. It was a great event, even though it was within the plotline for fielding the Renissance update. To my knowledge, other shards did things differently there, or not at all.

Of course, the downside to the whole thing...we wake up the morning after, to find out that Joye was killed in Britain (On all shards). That was obviously a letdown, considering all we'd achieved the previous morning.

Now on the complete flip side, we had the Brit invasion. Anissa came about, ran her own plot that completely ignored the invasion. I'm not saying that plot didn't have merit or wasn't fun, but there were serious problems with it. She was appointed as Captain of the Guard for British. That means, she should have had the defense of Britain as a primary goal. The EM could have done a couple simple things to make things more realistic...either ran a plotline that didn't revolve around her character being the Captain of the Guard, or ran a plotline that involved trying to stop the invasion, even if it wasn't a direct attack.

Seers and/or EM's should be free to adlib (or capable of doing so if they are free). The game events exist, like em or not. Siege has history. Its guilds are real, and they interact. A good EM should not work around all of these, he/she should work with them in mind.

In my mind, the best seers we had were the ones who would spend time with the guilds on the shard, between events, and learn who they were and why they were about. Call it research. Plotlines could be worked up taking that research into account. In the end, you had something that involved the shard.

Much better than making a call to everyone on the shard, and throwing the gaggle that shows up into an event that makes no sense, just for the sake of holding an event.

You forget tho, Anissa gave up on Britain because she really didn't like the city. She didn't hold her meetings there, even in a substitute building to the castle, and she had a deadly fear of rats, which meant with the sewers being centered in town she would always be wary when travelling in the city. Once LB left for good, she was free to leave Britain to it's fate - pretty irresponsible, but not really surprising given her character.

Anissa had her failings just like any other citizen would. She could be wishy washy at times, and forgetful. She also yearned to become a respected artist, and I think that mattered more to her than her duties as the royal sorceress. But who can really know what is in another person's heart?

Amen Grot!

The EM should make at least some events relevant to the guilds on Siege if they can.

Cheers!
