[News] Blackrock Extraction Machine Explodes, Rift Revealed

It was a few moments after nine in the evening and everyone was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Kronos and his assistant mages. We were not to be disappointed, after a brief speech Kronos intoned an unknown spell. It was then that the chaotic energy of the blackrock began to swell and tides of darkness flowed out the machine.

As Inu the Crone had predicted days before, the machine was engulfed in a massive surge of flames and a flash of light left all of us blinded for several moments. When we came to our senses, all of us had traveled to the other side of the rift.

There is a new Moonglow that floats in a dark abyss apart from Britannia populated by deadly creatures. Huge glowing masses of green gas prowl the streets that are called Fetid Essences; these have the ability to damage you simply by being close. There are also Fallen Warriors, which look like ethereal warriors; I slew one and found a planar sword and shield. There are also Dark Wisps which will chase you and cast magic spells and if you get to close, they will chill you with a wither spell. When Dark Wisps are slain may leave a black chest.

After a short time, the blackrock machine hummed to life again and darkness emanated from it revealing new foes, The Shadowlords themselves. The Shadowlords warned Kronos to cease his activities and die. Following the command from these wondrous beings, three mighty entities laid siege to Moonglow and it took all of our combined might to slay them.

The rift is still open and all may venture beyond it to explore the abyssal Moonglow. Be warned fighting the Shadowlords and their minions is no small task. According to adventurers, the Shadowlords are still appearing and those who deal the hardest blows may find a Cloak of Corruption.

The Shadowlords are still appearing and it is possible to damage them greatly by casting the Armageddon spell. To cast Armageddon you need a piece of blackrock (any size), then you say the following words "Vas Kal An Mani In Corp Hur Tym".

The spell is spectacular and lethal to the Shadowlords inflicting obscene damage on them. Sadly, the spell consumed my blackrock piece, however the Armageddon spell did not seem to have any of the usual side effects when cast inside the Rift.

I have already cast Armageddon so I can't say for sure if you try this that you won't get infected. When I tried it in the Rift though, No blue wisps appeared for example, my head didn't blown off, etc. I did have a lich appear who chased me around until I killed it.

Following an experiment with the Armageddon spell in Moonglow, I found a Cloak of Corruption. The Cloak of Corruption is a cursed item that looks like an Elven Robe dyed pure black when worn, it can be worn by anyone, not just an elf.

Wildstar (DWN) and Kathyrn (TAO) set up a relief station to help out adventurers the other night, complete with food, bandages, repair deeds, heals and ressurections. I thought that was a nice touch to help out. They had more stuff out but I ate it.

Blackrock Detector Fails! Mages Reported Missing!
Draconi Apr 2 2008 8:24AM

Events took a terrifying turn in Moonglow this weekend as Kronos, Director of Alchemical Studies, turned on his blackrock detecting machine for the second, and apparently, very last time. Witnesses reported a keening, rushing sound enveloping the crowd amidst magical flares, when suddenly those standing closest to the machine disappeared in a flare of light!

The remaining onlookers had only a moment’s warning before an explosion ripped through the machine itself, leaving a gaping hole where hundreds had gathered just seconds before. Our own reporter vanished in the initial chaos, leaving the BNN with little to go on for hours as a much more apprehensive crowd began gathering around the smoldering crater.

Their wait wasn’t in vain, however, when after a while a moongate, as dark as night, opened at the base of the crater. Frenzied survivors began pouring out of the portal; screams for healers and aid rang up over the ridges as they clambered up the sides. Against all reason more jumped back into the darkness, but the BNN was already confirming details on what lay beyond with our own correspondent.

We know for certain that the place beyond the rift resembles our own Moonglow, yet is infested with hordes of demonic entities. We also know that one or more of the mages working on the project, Kronos, Melissa, and Dexter, were killed within. The others, if any survive, are missing.

The rift apparently leads not to a “place” so much as a “when.” The local mages are struggling to explain this phenomenon, but claim that the rift is bound to the failure of the experiment the previous day, and has captured some slice of time in which the good people of Moonglow were trapped.

The BNN is also attempting to corroborate reports that some sort of battle took place within the so-called “timerift” between the Time Lord, and other beings of extraordinary power. We’ve also received word that the military is sending reinforcements to secure the perimeter of the gate.

We urge our readers to be wary of the rift, and not enter it under any circumstances!

Screenshots from some of the happenings at Moonglow:

It is common belief that Inu has noticed Handalf running around Moonglow.
