[/ QUOTE ]Enjoy the event! Having blackrock on the initial event is fun because of what happens to you if you carry it in the second, and had it in the first.

Having blackrock, in general, in the second, helps with some of the challenges you might face. Not having any won't stop you from owning up the place.

I understand Conner's woe.

Why not have it start at 9 EST for everyone? That way people who play
on west coast shards and live in middle of country start at a more reasonable time. People who live on west coast start at 6 pm which is when most people are
home from work.

Also, everyone in the American shards would start at the same time, hence,
no spoilers to have to avoid for 3 hours while we on PST twiddle our thumbs.

Just a thought. Really just glad for having an event.

G

Guest
People who live on the west coast and play west coast shards will start at 9pm their time just as it says. It's not the devs fault if someone on the west coast plays an east coast shard.
Like I said in my previous post they can't please everyone. This is a reasonable work around so that *most* everyone can participate in their own time zone at 9pm their time.

Yes, I can read
but don't understand why we can't all do it at the same time. No biggy. Just makes more sense to me that way.

But I am not a programmer, maybe it is just to hard to set and push a button for the different timezones to start the event at the same time? 8:00 pm comes to mind for all. *shrugs*

Anyhoo, when something is odd, I wonder about it. Yet again, just happy an event is going to happen!! Yippee!

"This is a reasonable work around so that *most* everyone can participate in their own time zone at 9pm their time"

Mountain is 1 hour later than Pacific time.

Central is 2 hours later than Pacific time, and is where Origin is located, which is included in the Pacific time schedule.

Only 2 of the 4 time zones in the country "can participate in their own time zone at 9pm their time".

Jus' so's ya know.....

What time is this EASTERN Time zone?

I could have sworn that Origin was a Central Time Zone Shard. Why are we getting grouped with the West Coast Group.

Wouldn't it be more logical to put Origin with the East Coast since they are only an hour apart.

I guess I won't be attending...I'll be asleep

Ah bugger! 10:30 Saturday night is too late for me - have to be up 5:30 Sunday =P I was in the minority with the Valentines event though - early morning suits me better than late night

Anyone have ab idea of roughly how long first event goes for? Maybe people who were at the stress test? If it's only short I could stay up a little later than normal =)

Origin is actually a west coast shard. The server is in California.

There is no blackrock turn in!!!!

U just need 1 piece to take the full effect of both days at the event!!

well i run on eastern time zone since thats wehre i live...i make adjustments for PAC times all the time...but wow....9pm pacific time is like midnight here for me....just seems to me thats a bit late to be running an event.....yes it gives the pacific time zone people time to settle in for the night but yeesh it kills us eastern zoned folks. Guess i will have to take a nap and set my clock to remind me of this thing or else i will miss another event. This was the problem with shard run events as well....the EMs were on different zones and ran them according to their zones so many lost out of the events. Oh well..probably another event down the tubes...no wonder so many are leaving....and why i havent been around much.

*boggles*
So let's say they set a time that was convenient for *you* Let's say... 8pm eastern since you run on eastern time. That means the people on Pacific servers in the pacific time zone have to have their event at 5PM which is when people are still at work or driving home from work or taking their kids home from ball practice or eating dinner.
Instead they said lets make it 9PM for the eastern time zone shards and 9PM for the western time zone shards. Everyone else in the USA falls between those two so it should be the best time for everyone....
And STILL people complain.
It is not "EA"s fault that you are on eastern time zone but play a pacific server.
Here they are trying to work with people. Here people are still complaining.

*sigh* Once again i'm left out.

Yeah! Sure! I can still do some stuff over the course of the next couple of weeks but man i been waiting all this time to see whats going to happen and now i have to hear about it from others because i have to work.

Don't get me wrong, the times seem reasonable enough...It's just my bad luck coming by to play Roshambo with me again.

Hmm! now that i think about it...I get off at the time the event starts and can get home within 30 minutes so as long as the event or it's activity lasts longer than 30 minutes, there is still some hope for me.

"so it should be the best time for everyone..."

7pm PDT & 7pm EDT would have been "the best time for everyone" since that would have been 8pm mountain & 9pm central for those that play a west coast shard.

"Everyone else in the USA falls between those two"

Everyone else does not fall between those 2. They get 1-2 hours added to that time.

Central has better ping to the west coast and Mountain most certainly does, which is why people in those time zones play on Pacific and other west coast shards and not Atlantic. So we get to start the event in the dead of the night.

*boggles*
Why are you failing to see that?

Of course if you just happen to be in one of those time zones that starts at 9pm and not 11pm it wouldn't matter much that 50% of the country STARTS the event when most people are asleep....

As I said, 7pm PDT & 7pm EDT would have been "the best time for everyone".

*frets over the moral implications of knowingly carrying blackrock into the midst of a civilian population in a post-Haven world*

I have a couple of questions about all this:

"Bring blackrock"

Are we going to lose the blackrock that we bring either day? I know I only have one piece that's insurable and quite a few people only have 1-2 pieces total.

"Be prepared to choose your loyalties"

Are the loyalties per account or per character? I have 3 characters I plan on getting involved in this, one of which is infected, the other 2 aren't.

"Be prepared to be trapped for a little while"

Does this mean we can only have 1 character involved? What happens to those that are infected?

I don't play an east coast shard.....

Besides that, I'll be asleep when they start so I can get up at 11pm to start it on Pacific since we're starting in the middle of the night.....

Sheesh....

Maybe 7pm PDT would be convenient for YOU Connor, but here IN PDTalot of people are eating dinner at that time ...

See the problem? No matter what time they chose, it will not be perfect for everyone, so we must cope - it is a different time than the last event was, and that is a good thing. They are changing things up.

How severely non-optimized should we expect KR to be? A few missing effects? Higher lag? Or client goes boom?

(I sorta nuked my 2D)

"PDTalot of people are eating dinner at that time"

Hmm....25% eating dinner or 50% normally unconscious.....

Decisions decisions.....

Methinks eating dinner would be a little easier than getting and staying up in the middle of the night.....

G

Methinks you don't have 3 children whom you should be sitting at the dinner table WITH.

C

I do have 2 children tyvm.

Moving dinner time 30 minutes earlier would be a hell of a lot easier than, as I said, getting and staying up in the middle of the night.

Accepting that they can't please everyone all the time is a good option too. Which is what everyone has been trying to say. Sorry this particular event time does not suit you .... I am sure other event times have suited you well and not been good for others.

Trust me, it would have suited me alot better for it to have been at 3pm PDT, but its not.

there is always someone upset about how uo should do things when its convenient for them, it doesnt work like that, they do it when it is convenient for uo, at least there giving you an estimated time!...its a case of deal with it or at least you will get the 2 weeks following to do things.

The problem with the situation is they only tried to accomodate 1 out of 3 time zones affected by the 9pm Pacific start time. If they were trying to accomodate the majority, they would have started west coast earlier so Mountain and Central weren't in the position of a middle of the night event start time.

One way or another, unhappy about the situation as I am, I'll be there, but you didn't hear the reaction I did when I told the people I hunt with what time this was starting. A lot of people have to work Saturday, so this event is out of the picture for them. Then there's the fact that the Central time zone is the biggest concentration of attendees of religious services in the US, so those that are going to church Sunday morning are going to have to miss out on Saturday, along with those that have to work on Sunday morning.

Simply by starting at 7pm PDT, most PDT inhabitants would be home from work, and in the Mountain and Central time zones, the event would have started at a time that wouldn't be too late for them to attend.

Just sayin......

Is There Anyway We Could Get A List of Things That Can Be Turned In I know The Blackrock and Ophidian's But What Else or is that It Maybe Rubble?

C

Connor_Graham

Guest
The only thing we've been told for sure that will be turned in is the Ophid items. Blackrock has been hinted at but not confirmed or denied. Other than that it's just "items that would appear to have no use other than as deco" or something along those lines is the only clue we've gotten.
