How tough was this wall? Did it cause any abnormal wear to your weapon? did you try spells? With the city abandoned by leaders and guards, earthquake and other high levels should be OK, eh?

To be honest, the only way I KNOW how to be in there...was to have logged off before the publish hit origin. Only thing I have in there is a Sampire. The walls seem pretty durable, takes a couple of minutes to kill it. Nothing else really happens.

I do like that a lot of new artwork is being used rather than older artwork cobbled together. Wonder what it would look like in high res EC.......

So, you can only attack the walls from the inside?

Its probably a bug that you can get in there with a logged out char. Ill have to leave someone in there.

The entrance is blocked by an invisible wall, the destructible walls are only found inside the city.

Here is a look at it in the EC for anyone who is interested.

currently, on Production, you can Earthquake until you set foot on that first step leading into the city. First I just thought Devs blocked off the entrance on TC, like they did the avalanche areas, until Promathia said "walls" - just like the invisible walls that formed on the castle buildings.
another thing to remember in fighting Mechs:
"According to some, pets cannot be ordered to attack mechanical monsters, but can be "tricked" into fighting them by being ordered to guard their owner or someone else.i thought my Cu a little funny when I did all kill on an overseer controller, but Guarded, it bled red.

Would be willing to bet now that the word is out they will fix it to pop you out of there when you log back in. But still worth a shot :)

This isn't a slam on the RP but I haven't read any of the awakening really since the first act (I've become too reliant on these spoiler threads).

Here's a pic of Callie, in case it's new (from Origin):

Hope they dont intend to leave it like that. It's kinda...fugly as is....I mean, ice blue dyed ropes, comm crystals, vines, and brambles?...they don't even LOOK like anything else...they look like blue ropes comm crystals vines and brambles... The floor tiling needs to be fixed too, it repeats way too quickly so the dirt looks "checkerboarded"

I'm going to assume you're being sarcastic about the new artwork (as there isn't any), since the pics shown make the place look like crap.

I'm seriously losing faith in the vaporware "High-Res" update...

What a waste of an awesome town. This is just plain sad.

Even worse, I bet the area STILL won't get its own music.

I don't think it'll be the Original TV series of Dallas, where it all changes back because it was a dream, I thought it was stark white and devoid of much artistic value. If you're DEAD, it all looks the same, Really sad. Them Gargs are a pretty ingenious lot, look at Royal City (laggy as hell tho). I hope for a bit of color, flavor, it's own music, and Recall. That it was flattened, might be a good idea, and was probably planned at it's creation.

Whats going on now doesn't mean they will not be able to rebuild but this could be to get rid of the ish garg art to match it up to the new SA art. Its a bit like the Klingons from the origional from what they became.

But properly is relative. If we want to give players control then we have to accept that sometimes players are going to be morons and build crystal borg cubes. New Magincia could have been done better but allowing customizable player housing is great they just forgot to leave in enough NPCs. I think that things can be done better and if it gets rebuilt I could see it looking more like the Royal City in Ter Mur.

What? Like a muddy mish-mash of styles that conflict with each other terribly and don't show off that they're supposed to be top-notch stonemasons like the original city did?

Holy City style maybe, but definitely not Royal City.

Good point. It might not be the best idea to use 30 different types of stone seemingly. Although that being said that is more normal in the real world as things are built over time so while it might make sense for the royal city your right it would make no sense for a rebuilt to be done in anything other then one type of stone.

Gargoyles are very meticulous artisans that put great value in order and unity.. the city as it stood took that into account. Even built over time they would likely do their best to match up the styles.. its just their nature. :p

The guys who made the maps of "Ter Mur" (literally translates to "The Underworld".. who the hell would call their world that?) ended up having to put more into variety than sticking with established lore and thought, for whatever reason.

I would say that there are a ton of reasons the sytles could be different as explained if they were built over centuries. You are right the name is a bit off though.

This actually happens a lot.

Sometime, take a look at the naming conventions of Civil War Battles.

Or Native Americans. Most names associated with Native Americans are not what they called themselves, but what others called them (and several names actually mean "enemy"). The Mohawk name is derived from the Narraganset for "man-eater" (the Mohawks participated in ritual cannibalis), but refer to themselves as the Kanien'gehaga (People of the Place of Flint). Bet most people have not heard of the Kanien'gehaga but do know the Mohawk.

Yes, but why would a people with a sky above them call their world "The Underworld"? If it was a world entirely of caves i'd understand.. but it isnt. Plus, the name is what the Gargoyles supposedly call it, not what was given once the players showed up.

Perhaps, they originally did live in caves, and the name was transferred when buildings were erected. Or it is an ironic named derived from them bein "grounded" in a city rather than flying free. Perhaps it has some ritualistic meaning (ie. this life is the underworld, and when you die your spirit is sent to the world above).

Or, perhaps the name meaning changed over times, where it originally meant one thing, but over time its meaning changed.

If the entrances to SA were closer built it would make sense. Perhaps the Holy city was the orig Ter Mur, and renamed after the Queens's place was erected?

My bet is, it will be turned to Fel Ruleset, and the best FACTION with its guilds will be able to take over it and can start build up a Faction Player Town from the scratch...they will get 2 EM's for a week that build them for them after they sent in their plan and wishes....

This is only the first town that will be deleted like that and turned to player run faction pvp town - 3 more will follow...

i heard it through the grape wine....just believe i know it all..i have seen it in my timetravels..

To those worried about the future of Ver Lor Reg... well, perhaps it is with good reason, Yew was left a swamp for a despicable amount of time, and the current design for Ver is even more barren and aesthetically offensive. But, call me a hopeless old fool but I'm kind of hoping it's currently an Exodus garbage-dump because that's what the plot calls for, but maybe, just maybe we'll actually have an influence in resetting it this time? That it'll be plot and shard related due to our actions? That it's not just a set in stone violating of decades of Ultima Lore, with a horribly designed Finale... please? Pretty please? The EMs are doing a relatively good job of roleplaying out the background (even if I've one of the few characters who actually has been looting Exodus, but ssshhh don't tell my main character or EM Layne!) and if you look at the radar map (already patched in) the nexus are marked on the map as important items, so there obviously is something in mind for them... but please, please be well worth of the 15 year Ultima name, what ever it is!

Actually, Ter Mur means "World," not Underworld. The transliteration of "Ter" is place, while the transliteration of "Mur" is group/many/multiple/number. Underworld in Gargl is Des-Ter-Mur.

Thanks for that.. not sure where I got my translating from, but obviously it was off (whatever site it was I got the translation of gargoyle words from i'm angry at now). That makes a lot more sense.

Seeing how Gargs are stoners, they might have used the very best rock out of the mountain by them to erect the city. I would doubt they'd just 'move on' later, depending on how time passes in the near future for them. I could see them using more of the mountain, but it'd open up that side of the city to the wilderness, increasing both trade and peril. I think they should head to Royal city, convert the Queen's place to a Lag Free Zone (place is as bad as Luna). The place is huge for not really having much - give all them homeless people out front some high density housing or something. Not like the Queen is helping them much, surprised They aren't Protesting and Rioting, least they have a reason

Is "stoners" really the best word to use here? Wouldn't "masons" be nicer? ^^;
Have you seen all the gargoyles in the tents around ter mur? I think they are attending Gargoylepalooza...or is it GargStock? "Stoners" might be quite accurate. LOL :)

Well, the story calls for such and such, but what is the "real" reason they are taking over Ver Lor Reg? I just came back after an extended break meow, but it's like I woke up one day and got booted out of a house that was erroneously built over my happy home and summarily ran to the closest moongate and drank a chocolate milk before (no kidding, this is like the same 30 minutes after I resubbed), got into an event that happened on Atlantic and we were tasked by the Gargoyle Queen Zhah to escort people from Ver Lor Reg to Ter Mur.

Anyhow back to my original question.. and my theory.. It's been hinted that the gargoyles were "stoners" hehe, maybe the -rock- is what the bad guys are after, so they can make a profi.. oh wait, this isn't america. Carry on!

1) Identify rare rocks in Ver Lor Reg
2) Scare gargoyle inhabitants so they run away (Scooby Doo style)
3) ....
4) Profit!

Callie was introduced in the Act I, Part 2 (she was also in Act II) metafiction posted to the Herald, thus she is a global character. I believe she is now dead on most shards.

She...uhm...kinda deserved it too...
