I have come to the conclusion that EA has no idea what goes on in pvp.

The game doesn't revolve around PvP, fortunately.

It should be done away with.

havent played the last few days. Are you saying there is a new quest to obtain the Rangers Cloak (again) and they added the tinker leggings? While yes i was hoping the cloaks would gain value, but only so i could buy rewards like this that have also gone up in price (conjurers garbs mainly) Theres too many items available in my opinion already, but thats the game now. More options to make your perfect suit. UO was never supposed to be an "item based game" (it has become that more and more tho) My point is, Items are nice, but SHOULD NOT be the main focus of the game. If your whining about items becoming more available to all then find another game, play on seige, or hope (like i am) for a Classic Shard.

I think its the whole point. Uo was never intended to be an Item based game, but a skill based one. So if they flood everyone with Items, everyone is on a level playing field.......

BTW, whoever earlier said PvP should be done away with, just stay in tram and you will be just fine. We will continue to sell out 120's to you.

Got all my 120s when it was a group effort like Narvey is now, before the gank guild greed took over. And if they don't fix a load of PVP issues and the stronger guilds don't police themselves and THEIR WORLD there will be another player numbers loss. In the future there will be a fel only item release so you fel chain yankers need to get your tear buckets ready. Remember it is not the stuff that drives the games success.

I'll be mining, doing explorer quest or a community hunt. Enjoying a game I play.

I'm one of those folks that holds on to items with the hopes they'll jump in value. Of course we don't want it giving out multiple times. The main thing though is how is this wrong? Please explain what is so bad about this sort of behavior. It's no different than those who have stocks and metals such as gold. It's all about making money off their increased worth.

I'm pretty sure you're just a jerk.

I have come to the conclusion that EA likes ruining the value of items by repeating event items.

Having items only (or mostly) obtainable by few players whether for their cost or because of the way they are hunted for, in an item based game, makes these players have an upper hand over other players.

And saying that everyone has "in theory" a chance at getting them, does not help, in reality.
If getting those items involves power gaming or other ways of playing which not all players can use, in reality it makes "some" players (usually a few) have those high end items and some other players (usually a greater number) not have them and thus suffer in fights in an item based game..........

This makes the game so that a few can win most times over a greater majority.

It back fires for the game, IMHO, since it makes it more frustrating for a larger number of players.

Ideally, in an environment that is wanted to be challenging and fun for the most players possible, all players should have equally accessable, in a reasonable time, to the same high end items which make a difference when fighting.

It is not about ruining the value of items, IMHO, it is about providing the same fighting tools to the greater majority of players possible so that fighting each other can truly be an open ended challenge, therefore more fun and thrilling for everyone.

At least, that is the way I see it.

The wrong of it, is that a player, any player, feels the need, in order to play the game, competitively, to have to put together large amounts of gold so to be able to secure the best items, in an item based game, and so be able to win fights most often.

This is very wrong, IMHO, because it creates a number (usually limited number) of players who will win most fights over a greater majority of players who will loose most fights.

So what this makes the game ?

Boring for those who win most often, and frustrating for those who loose most often.

Either way, it ends up disatisfying both winners and losers, IMHO.

In order for the game to be fun, thrilling and challenging, fights need to be OPEN ENDED regardless of whatever gear or weaponry one might be using.

This means, reducing the impact of items on fights outcome and, therefore, their value.

This is why I think it is wrong.

have you try to fit the animated legs in your melee/archer template?
Try before speak... fit this piece require a sacrifice in DCI or HCI or stamina or resistances. So I think nothing change PVP or PVM :p

The whole point of any game is not everyone wins, unless you're running a kindergarten. If everyone was doled out equal reward regardless of how much or little they played, what would be the incentive to play? Basically you'd be paying a monthly subscription to have pretend items drop into your pack without any significant involvement from yourself. The only element that is missing is fun.

Fortunately with UO the definition of winning varies from person to person. Not everyone has the same homogenised goals of acquiring everything that everyone else has, or having equal access to every new item. I didn't want an Abyss plot so I didn't bother grinding the quest, and the only reason I'd want the tinker leggings is to stomp around exclaiming "It's the wrong trousers!"
