I wonder which is the shard that will report the new ship as first, floating the Seas of a production shard.........

i like the idea of this ship being sought after by guilds. the boat clearly has the room for all the needs of a large group and you won't have to worry about your lines getting tangled :p

Whichever shard has the richest (or most dumb) person. :p
In comparison to how much gold some people have...the boat is not that costly, and serves only as a status symbol to further prove that lol.

unlike the orc boat which has the damage bonus i dont see the benifit of this boat.

and i have yet to see a pic of it!!!!!

i usually strive to go get everything new that comes into game, but this one i think ill take a pass on.

i just cant think of when ill need a 100 passanger boat at my disposal.... dont get me wrong, im sure i could fill it with the 'poo haters' (hehe) but unless your on a big shard with a big RP backing i dont see the need for this boat.

all that said, i now kinda want to go get one.....

If you're playing in CC you can't see the other end of the boat and barely even midway.

And the benefits of it, marginal at best. Like a lot are saying - it's more or less a status symbol.

Navigating this thing in combat would be a freaking nightmare.

Other than the thought of not having to refresh it, I don't think the brit ship should have advantages such as % damage increase or something like that. The reason being is you then make it so only the super rich can get the best stuff. I guess you can argue that's still the case for those who can get a small forge deed and unravel crap on the "High Seas," but eh. I think, for those who can afford the brit ship, while in a group or as an individual, there are enough reasons to like the brit ship for either big group situations or individual fun.

Neat.

Is this the Moonglow Navy on the Europa server mentioned in another post in this thread?

Do you do seaborne PvP? If so, how is it?

-Galen's player
yes we do...

we were ment to do a transport the Noble mission from trinsic to moonglow last night but the servers were down...

there was ment to be an attack from a rival guild called Vesper trading company who are a rather dubious company that deal leagally and ileagally and are involved in pirateering and kidnapping... (this is all Role play)

Moonglow Navy and the Dutchy of Trinsic were tasked to get a Nobles Daughter from the start to finish to make her wedding...

would of been good fun so we will set it up for next week

Not sure I understand what you mean there.....

I mean, we do have blue beetles and pack horses and llamas so I do not see any difference or not much anyways for what the ship cost.....

You need a soul forge to unravel and you won't be finding them on an old style boat.

well a lot of people are seemly haters to the ship.....

yes its a lot of work/gold to get.... but i was a trader a few years back on uo.. i worked my butt off trading running a shop stocking multiple times a day... spending 2 mill a day on vendors fees.. so i have worked hard to earn my gold! and i dont intend to let it sit around gathering dust!!
when stopped trading i had a lot of items that were stock and a stock pile of gold that i used to invest into my shop...

then when High seas came out i thought what better to use my gold on than to start an RP guild.... iv invested a lot of gold and time into my guild... and one of the treats for us as a role playing Navy is to have the biggest gunned ship there is..

im only buying one... and ok maybe it is a large chunk of change but... they did warn people it would be hard... i mean how many points would you expect to pay?

when spring cleaning was out some things were ALOT of points like the armour pieces and jewel set cost a bomb to get the full sets?

i must ad mit though once id donated it i thought "OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE" but seeing how much it will add to the look opf my Navy id say its worth the pixles :)

So Atlantic FTW?
Doesn't matter who won, we're All winners here. Congrats to ALL the shards and Thanks for their dedication to grab these boats and move the Naval industry forward. Hopefully soon the seas will have hundreds of these as others snap these things up

I know a thing or two about that.

I also played on Europa for awhile some years back; I had a great time. I am eternally grateful or the way you all let me RP with you all as a blue, so I wouldn't be subject to the equipment restrictions. (I'm big on doing everything on the same character; the equipment restrictions made this nearly impossible.)

In an RP sense I ended up being the equivalent of two stereotypes: The fantasy type of the semi-retired warrior who isn't really involved in much anymore; and the "new middle class" of medieval Europe, with money but not much in the way of political influence. I think it worked well.

I don't think the Moonglow navy was around back then, though. I do remember Swagger's Inn and the oppressive Barony of Cove. Though from what I've seen there's since then been oppressive forces worse than the Barony!

Anyway, sorry for rambling....All this rambling adding up to saying: I'm glad that the seaborn PvP mechanics appear to be working.

anyone that has the new ship finding they're hard to navigate? Id imagine being that huge, you would run into alot of boats. Try plotting a course from moonglow to trinsic for example, and tell me how many times during the trip you stop on a boat.

I never really plot courses... I just hit the wheel and move normally, or use the old boat commands. I haven't had any real trouble getting around.

Well, the ones who seem to have them also have the most (and probably by that, richest) players.

and to be fair ... it is doubtful that Kingww ... has a very comprehensive Method for counting ...
(missed 2 on baja)

*shrugs*
poops question has been answered, sort of ...
some shard may have been the first (like day one first among the elite)

need timestamps to actually declare a "winner" ... neh?

well a lot of people are seemly haters to the ship.....
Firstly, I just want to say that I don't hate the people who bought the ship; nor do I begrudge you spending the money on it, and I hope it makes all who sail in them very happy with your purchases. It's not for me, and I understand that.

I do dislike the ship as a piece of design, in game and out though; It's just big. It doesn't really enhance the game world as it sails around, I don't find myself looking at one and thinking "This is a work of Sosarian art"... it's just so dull visually; I was hoping it would be scaled up, a true Titanic of a ship, or at least mount the two remaining cannon that are hidden in the artwork (see UOGuide)... but it's just a stretched, plain ship. It reminds me of those tacky limos you see driving around town centres at night; bigness for bigness' sake, whilst I cringe at the people inside.

It has very little practicality either; a paint job is about all you can expect to see, and whilst it would be nice to mount a Parrot deed aboard and take some of my feathered friends for a yo-ho-hoing, as nature intended, beyond that most of the purchases will be made for nothing more edifying than showing off the owners disposable income.

No different from any other rare, you may say. True. And on Europa, Kingsley's ship is part of a fine naval tradition, yes. If I see them aboard it, as I shuttle about chasing fish, I'd raise my Dread Pirate Hat to the crew. However, if I saw one in a PvP setting, I'd laugh me black guts out; I'd just get my Ork ship, sail alongside and use the cannon bonus knowing you can't get all those other cannons to bear on me. Remember, that you could scuttle boats in Trammel at launch too. And that it doesn't even have decay-protection in it's bug-fixed form however would give me pause for unease all the same... that's a lot of stretched-hostages to fortune you're giving there. And I wonder what the repair costs are like? These are things no other rares collector has to worry about, and it saddens me to know that the same "no item replacement" rule is going to cover these items all the same.

So... yes, I really don't like these boats, I'm sorry. The Britannic Ship is quite the opposite of a floating symbol of virtue, and gives very little that might inspire them. Again, I do however hope that those who have one get much pleasure from it. I just wish they'd given you, and by extension, those who will sail by you a lot more bang for your buck if we must go down this path.

Well writ  .. Cap'n.

It occurred to me while considering your "complaint" ... Critique ... yes critique is a better word.

It occurs to me, two things ...
A paint job maybe all(if ever) offered ... but a "below decks perspective"?
perhaps.

Size ... Fills the play screen a bit much ... eh?
I imagine more so in the CC than in EC?
Might be a good reason to acquire a ... hmmmm Zoom? in the CC to better serve us all?

:Hundreds" of these ??

I hope you do not mean per shard because navigation is already very bad now, with regular and High Seas ships cluttering docks and sea lanes that I can only imagine how much worse seafaring and docking at towns could become if "hundreds" of these ships would appear on each shard.....

Sure, the gold sink would help the inflation on the shard with so many billions of gold exiting in a very short time the economy of the shard but navigation would suffer, I am concerned.

Perhaps we need a booster with another navigable ocean and stricter rules about approaching docks where players can more freely navigate ?

Unless they give better benefits and/or add something like mibs (for 100 points) to the collection I doubt we'll see hundreds on a shard.. I would love one, But the time required to donate items just isn't doing it for me. :(
