New Player - Question on PvM Template

This is the template I am currently working on. I am wondering if it is decent or if I should change it up. Skill Cap of 700.

Eval Int - 120
Meditation - 120
Spellweaving - 120
Magic Resist - 110
Inscription - 100
Magery -100 (120 with Ring)

Remaining 30 Points - No Idea

I plan for this character to be a PvM Mage.

When it comes to wrestling, I have read many conflicting opinions, so I ended up getting Inscription instead. Im not sure if I should of done that or not.

And if anyone could give me some Stat setups to go with a template Id appreciate that as well.

Thanks ahead of time.

The template can be very effective. Maximum mage damage output, plus spell weaving. You will be short on the defensive end however. Monsters will stand next to you, hit you every dang time, and disrupt your spells.

There are 2 things you can do to prevent this;

1) Drop Inscribe (put it on a soul stone so you can use it from time to time to make spell books) and add wrestling for your defensive skill.

2) Equip a mage weapon so you can use your magery as your defensive skill. You won't be hit as much but you can be disarmed. (More of a problem in pvp them pvm) You won't be able to use any special moves however. Disarm has been very effective against mobs in the latest invasion. Disarmed mobs do much less damage.

As for the last few points I would push magery to 120, so you could use a better ring if you find one. I would also push resist to 120. Casting monsters will have much less of an effect on you at 120.

you'd be better off dropping inscription (10 sdi) and picking up wrestling so that you can use a spellbook (25-30 sdi) and shield.

so let me ask this

if you have a 30 sdi book does it work when in your bag or do you have to have it in hand if its the only one u have on u>?

gotta have it in your hand for the mods. if it's in your bag it works no different than a normal spellbook.

Since you have the +20 ring, try this:

Use a mage weapon with defense chance increase (DCI). Equip a shield with DCI.

Increase your magery to 120 to counter the effects of the mage weapon (Jaana's staff is a good one for PvM with both DCI and luck)

Keep your inscription, as wrestling (or anatomy) is pointless with a mage weapon.

Use an arctic ogre lord or summons as much as possible to keep the heat off of you and increase the damage you do.

Then you can switch to slayer books or scrappers or general's books in times when you aren't currently being attacked, and back to the mage weapon when you are in a place where you will be attacked.

If you don't want to be constantly switching what's in your hand, then you could do worse than adding in 100 anatomy. ((100 anatomy + 120 EI +20)/2) = defensive wrestling of 120.
