New player looking template

hello i am a new player looking for help on my first template, i will only be doing pve and would like a good template for soloing and gold farming.
i did see a few templates on this site but they are from threads that are quite old and i would like to make sure that my first template is up to date and not a complete failure.

If this is your 1st char and you want to go tamer(duh tamer forum) I suggest

Animal taming
animal lore
Veterinary
Magery
eval intel
meditation
focus(just let this rise untill you start making enough gold to buy powerscrolls for the above skills then set it to the down mark later)

You wont be quick out of the box as a tamer but once you get to say 70/70 taming/lore get yourself a high plains boroua. They have good amount of hitpoints and semi decent resists. That makes for a good tank! Then you can practice Vet on it or cast over its shoulder for extra damage!

That is a very simple template but for truly PvM

I would work on more of a hybrid

Taming and Lore up to 115 which will give you control over everything you need. you can use imbued items or found one to raise the skill.

Vet 100 - no need for more can even go with 90 and enhanced bandages for 100 skill

Chivialry - 50 for cures, heals, and getting around with sacred journey

Mysticism - 100

Archery - 100 (120) with hunters

Tactics - 80 - min 100 with items

With this you can stand behind your meat shiedl and dole out damage, of course there are MANY other templates out there you have to find what you are comfortable with.

Being a glutton for punishment I worked all the taming and bard skills to legendary.

With the use of soul stones I am a peace tamer when out looking for new pets and I am a disco tamer when out hunting.

The combination of discordance and a good pet or two makes for a powerful pvm template.

My template looks like this:

Taming 120 real
Animal Lore 120 real
Vet 120 real

Music 120 real
Discordance 120 real (sometimes swaped for peace 120 real or provoke 120 real)

Magery 120 real. This lets me use the special mage swords and staff giving me a defense skill to the tune of 120 plus gating is a snap


Why you may ask are my skills all up to 120 real instead of using jewelery?
Because I don't want to limit myself to one specific set of armor. Plus I'd rather imbue stats and attributes into a suit rather than skills.

You can speed up your enjoyment of taming using items carrying taming, animal lore and veterinary skill points on them.

That is, you can shorten the training time before you can control better pets using skill items.

Besides rings and bracelets which can carry up to a max of 15 points in each of the Taming skills, some taming skills can also be found on

Birds of Britannia Random Summoner +5 Animal Taming +5 Animal Lore
Ancient Farmer's Kasa + 5 Animal Lore

The talisman can be quite expensive and so not within reach of a new player.

While using skill items you will still gain and advance your real skills when using those skills.

There's a rough guide to templates here, which may give you some ideas of the sort of tamer you'd like to train up. I'd recommend a quick tryout on Test Center, then you can mess about with skills and see how your final template might actually "handle" in game. If you see something specific you fancy trying though, feel free to ask here for more specific template advice

If I had to pick one template that's easy for beginners I'd say mage tamer, ideally with hiding and stealth on there. It isn't as powerful as some of the hybrids but it's very cheap to train and the hiding/stealth are invaluable for staying alive and exploring new areas. This is the kind of template I'd probably recommend for a beginner:

110 Animal Taming
110 Animal Lore
110 Veterinary
100 Hiding
80 stealth
90 Magery
100 Evaluate Intelligence

The above works with a skill cap of 700 with no skill boosting items or special equipment. So it's nice and cheap to get started with it and you can add more powerscrolls or fancy stuff later if you're happy with the template. It's also easy to change the skills out for something else at a later date. The only downside with the above is the lack of meditation which will mean it takes a while for you regen mana, however hide and stealth will keep you out of a lot of trouble meaning you don't really need to cast spells all that often anyway. It really depends how you play that template
