New player looking for NEW

I just started my first character on Siege and was wondering how i could hook up with NEW to get some help getting started. Im not new to UO, but its tough out tthere when you cant afford a horse and a boat is 91k!

Any help will appreciated.

how does the ingame general chat work?

what button do i have to press in order to talk there and not in my actual game window...??? (haven't played in a while and couldn't find any clues on this anywhere...)

Up at the top of the screen where the Paperdoll tab is. Click chat then yell in global general chat till you get some help.

once you are in the channel by going to chat and clicking general like aeowyn said, you have to hit comma (,) to actually type (just in case you cant find it on the site orare too lazy to look at the links)
