Well, first off let me just say that I've experienced a very warm and friendly welcoming to UO. A little about my info. I've been playing for about 1 year off and on, I'm on Catskills ( I get deployed a lot these days) I have 4 characters Mage/Bard, Crafter, sampire, archer. I thought maybe this can shed some light on the issues of attracting new players to UO, because I've been trying to recruit some of my friends to make a trail account and get involved. No luck. From my end though the online community here has really offered me a great experience. All I have to do is ask for directions or how was this made and god bless them they put up with my ignorance.
what's going on in a newbies head are:
Constant keeping up with updates and what's new is sorta confusing I have to catch up on these forums. I got back and had to read up on these new invasions. My sampire actually killed some captains all by himself. Got dropped like a bad habit by a Bard though. I had to search at first for UO help. Which coming from my end I didn't know sites like this existed. Or uo guide or stratics. A download-able PDF or something for common newbie concerns like a detailed info of imbuing to reforming would be nice. It's easy to say go here and type a search for it. Once again if information is there (which I know is now) it's not reaching my little newbie hands..
Holy inflation! I see some pretty items I would like to have but lord 80million! To a billion! Even? I know ways of getting gold now, but not at that level. It's safe to say people making such deals have been playing since what 98? ( which I actually joined first in UO, but forgot all account name and cancelled the account after 3 months, I think my greatest item was a bow of power back then)... So is starting on a gold hungry power trip all begins with obtaining that rare Shame piece? Honestly, how can a player that might want something like the insane leggings
afford them?
That's it for my little bit of feed back. For the most part I can see myself playing UO for a while. I like the way people go out of their way to lend a hand. I actually emailed some of the crafters about suits and what not and they more than pointed me in the right direction. I like the idea of the Vendor Search because it give newbies like myself with a house waaaay in the middle of nowhere a chance to sell some items and make that money. I like to also thank the people that post tutorials and charts. I've read and they actually help out a lot. So keep doing em.
Once again these are just my what I found are frustrating . Information being a little easier to obtain and decipher, and does it really need to take someone doing analytical mathematics to figure out some of these equations on combat?
