sounds like someone else just discovered the fail rate of imbuing (worse than luck?). I was just thinking earlier that maybe talismans might be the Next Big Thing in crafting - we do for mages already (spell books), why not for other professions?

do all relic and enchanted essence first! just imbue the good properties and leave the 4th and 5th slot for properties that use magical residue. also, being a gargoyle gives you an increased chance to succeed by 20% i think? and having Noble loyalty rating with the Garg Queen gives you another success buff if you imbue at the Queen's Soulforge.

there isn't much reason for a talisman if you use it correctly. these numbers aren't accurate but here is how most people imbue their armor to avoid risking expensive mats from being used up on failure.

first imbue - lower mana cost - 160% chance to imbue
second imbue - mana regen - 100% chance to imbue
third - mana increase 8 - 80% chance to imbue
fourth - lower reagant cost - 60% chance to imbue
fifth - resist - 40% chance to imbue

i know how to imbue if you are starting from scratch..
but say you found a weapon with 44 hml, 48 hsl and 40 life leech or something and is 100% cold and want to add 30 ssi to it..

your chance would then be like 18%.. you would spend more on relics to add something to something like this instead of just making a new one..

imbuing works great when you build something from scratch, but its useless to ADD to anything, witch i believe what it was intended for.

/this! I felt suckered once i found that out. having it explained didn't make me feel any better. i feel existing mods should account for something. Somehow it just didn't seem right when modding from 99-100% and 0-100% = same fail/success

i don't use imbuing to add to found armor/weapons unless i intend to unravel it for relics. exceptional weapons/armor gives a base of 500 total property weight, whereas weapons/armor you pick up only has 450. i can see how this situation can suck for rings and weapons with pre-existing elemental damage, but with the changes to concentrate weapon, why wouldn't a warrior have that up all the time? it now gives a damage buff and still attacks the target's weakest resistances. using weapons with 450 weight is somewhat of a nerf to the user. sure it might be easier, but it has it's downfall.
