New House Bug! (Stickied 5/5/11 - BS)

FYI to everyone,that there is a house bug that allows the exploiter into your Private house and into your Locked Owner Only stuff .Once hit the whole house will be accessed to anyone!This includes teleporters!.I don't know how it is done but do not post any details here. Instead , send to ea if you have been a victim.
I have resorted to placing , most valued items on my characters and in Banks for houses that I cannot customize. And in houses I can customize ,I stack the chests .go into Customize mode drop walls on that spot and send them into the packing crate.

Can't you just customize your house to make sure that you have an entrace with doors and change the security to owner only so no one else can enter your house?

Has this been confirmed other then the rumors?

Does this effect just containers, or locked down items as well?

With this bug ,the house teleporters are changed to "anyone" .The storage chests changed to" anyone". the doors changed to "anyone" .Yes this is confirmed by those it happenned to.
It would seem that anything that has a choice of "owner only "all the way to anyone is the target !

Need to post more details. Where is your house located? (shard, location) What all is missing, is it just items from secures, locked down items?
Did you actually see someone in your house?
No one else has access to your account?
Is there any non valuable items missing? ( deco,furniture,plants, etc?)
No one is going to take the time to unlock and steal furniture plants deco etc.


Why is it only one person is having this issue?
If what the op said is true, we would have a whole lot more people on here coming forward with stuff missing.

Sounds to me like they were either hacked, or this is a server backup issue.

Once before on Baja and on Chessy, there was server save issues, where almost everything in peoples luna houses, came up missing/decayed.

The only things that remained in these houses, was items that normally do not decay. Both shards a server revert was needed to fix the issue.

Until more details are posted, i do not think we need to worry.

If you can't tell us the shard, location of the house, and items missing.....then I think you are full of it.

To be fair if this was a real issue all the shards would be down untill the devs had sorted it and reverted the shards affected so that nobody lost anything...pretty sure they have set the new standard after the magincia rubble trouble.

I first heard of this house bug on Monday morning. It is now Thursday. Surely EA could figure out within 4 days if it is truly a bug or a hoax.

Devs, or someone official, please let us know if this is a real issue for us or not.

Normally the staff at stratics is quick to delete or lock threads that indicate the Dev team has a issue. Given that this is stickied it would seem that something more important is going on.

Cant you just lock your stuff down? As opposed to securing it? I mean you wont be able to remove anything from the chests but that is sort of the point right now.

This is correct and dead on. Let's be Confident that Mesanna and the team are working on this as we speak in our best interests.

I am sure they understand what a personal investment we feel to these items no mater what the value.

My most precious item is a Tunic sewn by someone who helped me greatly in my frist months 13 years ago. It is worthless to anyone else but to me well to lose it would be a sad day.

Think of the Dev's as being on the very front line of a battle they need our respect, support and trust that we believe they are fighting for us. The more they feel it the more empowered and energized they are.

We dont need the whole story and I have to strongly agree with Tazar. To know more would put even more players homes in danger.

What is the first thing that happens when people get ripped off? They post here screaming about it. So far we have heard nothing about this except from the OP. No rares people here or on the rares forum have said one word. If this is true you would think that the people able to do this would have wiped out the rares traders on thier shard first in one night. I find it very odd that this is the only person who has stuff taken from. Either they did something wrong or some one has access to thier account and ripped them off.

Seems a bit far-fetched. If this is a real bug I'd expect to hear about it more so or hear an official notice given the severity of the bug. I'd advise whoever this supposed bug hit to make sure their containers are not set to everyone, clean their friends/co-owner list, reset their password for their account, etc.

Ok, for all the people who believe that this is a far-fetched hoax, it happened to me, and a guildmate of mine.

He was cleaned out of all his ingots, boards, leather, runic kits and bods. I lost all the elemental weapons I made with runic hammers that I had not imbued yet. I have a feeling I missed the guy who cleaned me out by maybe 10 minutes because there were still some weapons remaining in the chest and some on the ground next to it as well. It's likely time consuming and not an easy thing to do or I could have lost the whole houseful of chests, but that doesn't make me feel much better about it.

Both our houses were public, had no co-owners, and both of the chests that were looted were set positively to owner only.

So I'm a believer.

Well I am ready to call BS, sorry. There is no way that a person whom is able to use this exploit has not gone around to every house in Luna, including mine, and ripped it off blind. I have stuff in my luna house sitting in a box worth millions which I do not use or display because I have no wish to do so and it's still there happy as can be. Someone ripped off ingots and bods? Really? So they can fill them for near worthless hammers and PoF's? Elemental weapons? Really? Come on, no one would bother with that stuff if they were the single holder of a massive exploit worth untold billions.

It should probably be noted that the moderators aren't in the habit of drawing attention to unconfirmed reports of exploits/bug.
It would be irresponsible to do so.

This has been confirmed by a few members of Stratics Staff who tested it upon hearing about it, which is why this thread was stuck (stickied?).
I do agree that there are a lot of questions that make it seem doubtful. There are no widespread reports of it happening, and Luna has not been relieved of its valuables.
But, I do trust the staff members that confirmed it (I don't think they'd appreciate the PM bombardment that would likely follow if I named them), which leads me to believe that people should perhaps err on the side of caution.

Well then I believe you are saying that some specific house(s) are currently at risk for this exploit. There is no official response save for some mods on a forum stickying a thread. This exploit has been confirmed by said staff and they give us not a single clue on how to protect ourselves, wtf is this? Is it safe to conclude that this is a rather easy "scam" to run and we should be hanging the dev team for no quick patch to fix, or is this a case of the weekend and nothing will be done till monday at best, again.

I don't think it would be in anyone's best interests to post to say "I tested it and confirmed it personally". Considering the way that things said have a habit of finding themselves liberated of their context, confirming that they tested an exploit could end badly for such a person (especially considering the hostile tone of this thread).

There is nothing significant to be gained by elevating unconfirmed rumours, and potentially much more to lost in terms of user trust through such a thing.
It has been tested and confirmed by Stratics Staff, and that is the reason why this thread has been stuck, and it has been reported to Mythic.
To my knowledge, converting secures to "lock downs" would protect the contents, as would moving the objects to the moving crate.

4K posts and you missed the part about reading. This person, Cirno, whom is a stratics person said they have tested and confirmed. Sorry but I read that to say it is a live bug and, again, every player whom owns a certain house style is at risk.
