Ahh, the mysteries of UO. Now that's my play style.
I've never dug into this one beyond searching the immediate area for clues. I found one strange thing, but at the moment don't recall what exactly it was. But it wasn't something that seemed connected other than just being a bit strange, as I recall.
There are other mysteries in UO, many of which date back to the beginning. All have been delved into by the early players, and the universal opinion has been that it's all broken. Some obviously so. Nothing to them. I still always wondered though. Could there be deep secrets still hidden within this game? If this stuff is broken, it's been an on-running wish of mine that they fix it, and do it right so that we players would never know if they were indeed broke or if they had always been there.
I also wonder if there's any new mysteries with the release of the underworld. It'd be very cool if there were hidden and secret rooms and passages waiting for us to find.
These mysteries, many of which most of you don't know about (because you have to look, and I also have the benefit of knowing all the things other early players had found) are something I've wanted to document for a long time. Just never got around to it.
One classic example is the notes found in Covetous. 3-4-1-5. What does it mean? No one has ever known. There was a special event that had a Black Liche spawn in there. Some say that these numbers were the clue to make it happen. If so, it was added in almost as an afterthought, since this was at least 2 years after UO was released. Maybe that was the intent in the beginning. There's more to this that I'll reveal, but what I've found leads me to think that maybe it was all connected to the Liche Twins, an early UO event. I just don't know for sure. But what I've found is definitly cool, as far as secrets go. Just nothing more than that, unfortunately.
